Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a major health problem in the world. Various complications can arise due to uncontrolled blood sugar levels. One of the complications of DM involving the kidneys is diabetic nephropathy, which is characterized by the occurrence of proteinuria in DM patients. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of proteinuria in patients with diabetes mellitus at Puskesmas I and IV Denpasar Selatan. The design in this study is an analytical study with a cross sectional approach using primary data obtained from interviews and urinalysis examinations. The minimum sample size in this study was 106 people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using Chi Square test with a significance level of 5%. The number of respondents in this study were 106 respondents. The results of this study showed that as many as 33% of all DM patients had proteinuria. There is a significant relationship between the onset of DM and the incidence of proteinuria (p<0.05), so it can be interpreted that the longer the duration of experiencing DM, the incidence of proteinuria will increase, and vice versa. There was no significant relationship between age, gender, BMI, type of DM therapy, and fasting blood glucose levels with the incidence of proteinuria (p>0,05). Patients with diabetes onset more than 10 years tend to have proteinuria. DM patients are advised to do regular proteinuria checks if the onset of DM is more than 5 years.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the global health problems due to the increasing number of cases. Various complications can arise due to uncontrolled blood glucose levels. The patients have a tendency to suffer from nephropathy 17 times greater than non-diabetic people, which is characterized by increased levels of creatinine and urea in the blood. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship between HbA1c levels with the levels of creatinine and urea among diabetic patients in the Internal Medicine Clinics Karangasem Hospital. This research is analytics research with a cross-sectional study design using secondary data from medical records. A total of 107 respondents enrolled in the study by consecutive sampling method. The results of this research are obtained by the level of HbA1c, creatinine, and urea in a row – which is 9.52% (SD±2,53); 1.05 mg/dL (SD ±0,67); 39.60 mg/dL (SD ± 19,72). The results of the Spearman correlation test are not significantly found between HbA1c levels with the levels of creatinine (r = -0,215, p = 0.026) and urea (r = -0,254, p = 0.008) in diabetic patients in Internal Medicine Clinics Karangasem Hospital.

Abstract

Chikungunya is a re-emerging disease that occurs due to the bites of Aedes sp-infected Chikungunya virus (CHIKV). Chikungunya infection is a serious issue with high fever for 3 - 5 days as the indication and until now there is no Chikungunya vaccine. This is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The research samples were mosquitoes captured on 2 sampling points conducted in Peregae hamlet, Mengwi, and Buana Desa village, Padangsambian sub-district in December 2021. The aim of this study was to identify the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes as vectors of CHIKV infection in areas with an increasing number of CHIKV outbreak cases in Bali. The sampling technique was performed using total sampling utilizing a light trap installed in the room from the afternoon until the morning. The total number of mosquitoes captured in the two locations was 101, consisting of 46 non-Aedes sp (45.5%) and, 55 Aedes sp (53.9%). Captured Aedes sp mosquitoes consisted of 2 species, that is 6 Ae. albopictus (5.9%) and 49 Ae. aegypti (48.5%). Ae. aegypti mosquitoes were more commonly found as a vector for CHIKV infection in Peregae hamlet, Mengwi village, and Buana Desa hamlet, Padangsambian sub-district

Abstract

Abstract Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) significantly impacts global health, contributing to both morbidity and mortality. This condition is characterized by severe kidney damage, which results in increased blood urea levels and can lead to serious complications. Reports indicate that the number of CKD cases is on the rise. This study is descriptive and employs a cross-sectional design, analyzing the medical records of CKD patients. The focus is on individuals who underwent examinations at Tabanan Hospital between January 1, 2019, and May 31, 2024. A total of 101 subjects were selected for the analysis. The results revealed that the majority of patients with stage V chronic kidney failure were over 60 years old (38.6%). The highest incidence of CKD was observed in men, accounting for 53.5% of the cases. Most patients had hypertension that was managed with medication (67.3%), and approximately 50.5% of the subjects experienced severe anemia

Abstract

Dengue infection is one of the significant global health problems, especially in children. This paper aims to identify factors that affect the severity of dengue infection in the child population. The factors analysed included age, infection status, obesity, viral genome and Ns1 protein titers of dengue. Children who are younger and have an obese nutritional status tend to experience more severe symptoms. In addition, high NS1 titers, viral genomes, and secondary infections also contribute to a higher risk of infection. Detecting warning signs is important because it can be used as a predictor of more severe dengue infection.
