Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the practicality and effectiveness of electronic student worksheets based on ethnoscience in training smart risk-taking behavior and a growth mindset. The research employed a hybrid type III mixed-method with a sequential explanatory design, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. The subjects of the study were junior high school students in Lampung Province, selected randomly. The worksheets were developed based on ethnoscience principles, integrating local culture, traditional knowledge, and scientific knowledge, with validity tested by experts. Quantitative data were collected through product validity tests and hypothesis testing, while qualitative data were gathered through interviews and observations. Quantitative analysis showed a validity score of 91.60% with very high criteria, and hypothesis testing indicated significant differences between the experimental and control classes in the ability to exhibit smart risk-taking behavior and a growth mindset. Based on these results, it is concluded that ethnoscience-based worksheets are effective in training smart risk-taking behavior and a growth mindset, emphasizing the importance of integrating local cultural context in educational tools to enhance learning outcomes and personal development. This approach helps bridge the gap between traditional knowledge and modern scientific understanding, creating a more holistic educational framework.         Keywords: electronic student worksheets, ethnoscience, growth mindset, smart risk-taking behavior.DOI: https://doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i1.pp127-141

Abstract

Efforts to grow HOTS in high school students are very important to provide for 21st century skills and the demands of the industrial revolution era 4.0. One of these efforts is by providing teaching materials that can stimulate HOTS. This research was aimed to develop a fluid e-module with a valid, effective, and practical STEM approach to stimulate HOTS for high school students. We used the ADDIE R & D model research method which consists of five stages, which are analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The developed e-module product was examined for validity, legibility, effectiveness, and practicality tests. The e-module validity test was conducted by five physics learning experts using a Likert scale questionnaire instrument and analyzed using the percentage technique. The legibility test was conducted by five high school students using a Likert scale questionnaire. The practicality test was carried out in senior high schools in Bandar Lampung using a Likert scale questionnaire. The effectiveness test was carried out using the one-group pretest-posttest design. The effectiveness of the dynamic fluid e-module in stimulating HOTS was determined based on the N-gain value and the difference between the pretest and posttest means. The data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Sign Rank test. The results showed that the developed dynamic fluid e-module with the STEM approach was valid, effective, and practical to stimulate HOTS in distance learning in high school. Keywords: e-module, STEM approach, stimulating HOTS, dynamic fluid.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v21i2.pp132-145

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of using a video-assisted problem-based learning model on class VII students' critical thinking abilities on environmental pollution material. This research was conducted using quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group. The research data were in the form of qualitative data (critical thinking skills) and quantitative (student responses to learning using the video-assisted PBL model). Data analysis used the T-test (p<0.05). The results showed that there was an influence of using the video-assisted PBL model on students' critical thinking skills on environmental pollution material (p<0.05). The indicator for building basic skills obtained the highest average N-gain, namely 0.82 in the very good category. Meanwhile, the results of the student response questionnaire regarding the use of the video-assisted PBL model showed positive student responses with an average score of 89.67% in the very good category.         Keywords: critical thinking skills, PBL, environmental pollution and video. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i1.pp486-495

Abstract

This study aims to develop a computer-based test instrument using the valid Wondershare Quiz Creator (WQC) to measure HOTS in temperature and heat material. This study uses research and development research methods and the research design used refers to the research design by Borg & Gall. Data analysis was performed by means of internal validation tests by a team of experts. This test instrument has been tested by experts consisting of the material validation test with a score of 3.10 (valid), construction with a score of 2.88 (valid), and language with a score of 3.63 (very valid). The CBT setting on this product is also very valid with an average score of 3.68. The sig value of the difference in the level of validity and complexity in the types of multiple choice, multiple response, matching, and sequence items obtained was> 0.05, which indicates that there was no difference in the average validity and complexity between the four types of questions at each cognitive level. Keywords: Test instruments, Wondershare Quiz Creator (WQC), HOTS.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i1.pp45-51

Abstract

This research is a development research that uses the ADDIE Design Research and Development (R&D) model which consists of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The purpose of this study is to describe the validity and practicality. Augmented reality-assisted flashcards on linear motion material to increase students' learning interest. Product validity was assessed by 3 experts consisting of aspects of material and construct assessment as well as aspects of media and design assessment with an overall average score of 3.64 with a very valid category. The practicality of the product is assessed from the readability aspect and the teacher's perception aspect by obtaining an overall average percentage of 95% in the very practical category. Based on the analysis of the results of the data, it was concluded that the product resulting from the development of augmented reality-assisted flashcards on linear motion material was valid and practical to increase students' interest in learning. Keywords: flashcards, augmented reality, learning interest, linear motion.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp291-297
