Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of flipbook on the Sub-material of Water Pollution based on the zooplankton quality in Ambawang River, West Kalimantan. This research was quantitative with descriptive method. In this study, the validity of the flipbook media was done by validity test. Data validation results of the media will be analyzed using the analysis method of Content Validity Ratio (CVR). Based on the CVR value, the CVI (Content Validity Index) value was calculated for the overall assessment of the instrument items that have good content validity. CVI calculation result showed the overall criteria obtained have he CVI value of 0.95, which showed that the flipbook media on Sub-material of Water Pollution in the first grade of SMA was not feasible to be used as a learning medium. The use of flipbooks in the learning of Sub-material of Water Pollution  must be revised  especially on the invalid item, namely adjusting the color variations to improve the attractiveness aspect. Keywords: Ambawang River, Flipbook media, Zooplankton, Water Pollution Sub-material

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to determine the feasibility of documentary film on the Water Pollution Submaterial. The research used quantitative descriptive method. Success in the learning process become increasingly important considering that the water pollution did not only affect the life of water biota, but also poisoned the source of drinking water and animal food, as well as imbalancing the river ecosystem. With regards to environmental pollution material, the documentary medium could also provide direct and indirect motivation in daily life so that students were expected to understand and could implement the importance of keeping the environment healthy. The results of the documentary film validation containing the result of water quality analysis on Water Pollution Submaterial obtained average total validation of 3.05 (valid) for the material aspects and 3.21 (valid) for the medium aspects, but still needed to be repaired before its use on the learning of Water Pollution Submaterial for first grade students of senior high school. Keywords: Documentary Film, Submaterial Water Pollution

Abstract

The face is an important visual stimulus in daily life and each face identifies a particular person. The bone structure of the skull along with various soft tissues and coloration influence perception of the face. Facial averageness, and bilateral symmetry are the two most commonly used criterion of facial attractiveness, yet, both may be perceived differently based on hormonal status of the person observed. Facial perceptions may also differ according to cultural norms. In this research, we examined variations in face-shape among Sundanese male and female adults aged 18 to 40. We applied geometric-morphometric methods to analyze the landmark-based morphological variations in the frontal and lateral views of subjects’ faces. We identified five types of female frontal face views and four of male. We also identified five types each of female and male lateral face views. The trichion, gonion and gnathion were three most variable landmarks among the face views in our study, and highly determined the shape of the individuals’ faces. Multiple face type variation may refer to many categories of attractive faces since there is no exactly perfect category in the assessment of facial attractiveness by the viewers. Therefore, we believe that the configuration of facial features cannot constitute the sole visual criterion of facial attractiveness.

Abstract

This study analyzes macrozoobenthos diversity and functional feeding group in Berembang River, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan. The obtained macrozoobenthos were identified to the genus level, and their functional feeding group was determined through a literature study. Data on diversity, evenness, and dominance were analyzed descriptively. Diversity (H') and Evenness (E) of macrozoobenthos in Berembang River were low (H'=0.73 and E=0.15) while Dominance (C) was high (C=0.81) as evidenced by a large number of genera Corbicula and Gammarus. Macrozoobenthos functional feeding groups found at both stations can be divided into six categories, namely shredders, gathering collectors, deposit feeders, sub-surface deposit feeders, filtering collectors, and scrapers.

Abstract

Carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) is one of the widely cultivated fishes in Indonesia. Utilization of organic waste from the traditional market such as chicken intestines, corn husk, and water spinach stems into artificial feed for carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) var. Majalaya is discussed in this study. Compared to the commercial feed commonly used by fish farmers in Pontianak, artificial feed with a protein content of 30% showed the best growth rate of body length and weight, and highest feed efficiency. With the proper cultivating condition, artificial feed presents a huge opportunity to be an alternative solution to reduce the cost of carp farm production.
