Abstract

Cognitive decline is a problem faced by the elderly. Efforts can be made to maintain cognitive function by increasing activities that stimulate the brain. Puzzle therapy is one of the non-pharmacological therapies to boost cognitive function and slow the onset of dementia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of providing puzzle therapy interventions in the elderly with intellectual impairment. The type of research used was a case study, measuring cognitive function using a cognitive function level measurement instrument (MMSE). Measurements were taken in the phases before and after the provision of puzzle play therapy. Then, a descriptive comparative analysis was carried out and presented textually. The results of the study showed that Mrs. N had memory problems. After providing puzzle therapy intervention for 3 consecutive days, there was a change in the MMSE score in the elderly from 13 to 23. However, memory problems have not been resolved. Based on the evaluation results, it can be concluded that using puzzle therapy can help the elderly improve cognitive function. Therefore, health workers are expected to be able to use this media to help reduce cognitive decline in the elderly in a reasonable period.

Abstract

Disorders of physical mobility are characterized by a decrease in muscle strength and range of motion, which is a problem in the muscles and joints. Provision of early mobilization to physical mobility disorders through foot massage. Based on the events in the field of early mobilization in post-stroke patients, it has not received attention. Lack of physical activity after stroke can inhibit the range of joint motion, so that if this continues to occur, it will cause total dependence. One form of initial rehabilitation in stroke patients is to provide mobilization in the form of a passive foot massage and active exercises. That very early mobilization is one of the key factors in patient care. Foot massage has an effect on muscles and joints and reduces pain, and makes the body more relaxed. This research is a case study conducted on one elderly patient who experiences problems with physical mobility. After giving interventions to the elderly, Mr. MN found that the foot massage intervention increases muscle strength and provides a comfortable and relaxed effect on patients during the intervention lasting for 3 days. Thus, this foot massage therapy can be applied to increase the mobility of the elderly.

Abstract

Background: Current learning methods continue to develop, nursing students need effective learning methods to improve students' abilities and skills in achieving competencies, one of which is fulfilling human needs: oxygenation. Virtual care reality in 3600 video can be a real and concrete alternative learning method solution for students.Method: This research aims to determine the effect of virtual care reality in 3600 videos on skills in fulfilling basic human needs: oxygenation in nursing students. The research used a quasi experimental pre-post test design using a control group. The intervention group was given treatment in the form of Virtual Care Reality in video 3600 (VCR 3600) for 15 minutes at least three times in each video. VCR 3600 contains material about fulfilling basic human needs for oxygenation including suction, use of nasal cannulas, masks (Non-Rebreathing Mask/NRM and Rebreathing Mask/RM). Post-test measurements were carried out two weeks after the VCR 3600 intervention was carried out for the internalization phase first. The benefit of this research is that it is hoped that the VCR 3600 will be able to improve skills in fulfilling basic human needs: oxygenation in nursing studentsResults: The results of this study show that respondents are aged 18 - 20 years, with a median value of 19 years. The gender of the respondents was mostly female, the majority of respondents had never studied suction, the majority of respondents had never had experience studying material about administering oxygen therapy. The mean skills of suctioning and oxygen administration of respondents after the intervention in the intervention and control groups both increased. The results of further analysis showed that there was no significant difference in skills after the intervention between the intervention group and the control group (p value < 0.05).Conclusion: The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the skills of respondents after the intervention regarding suction and administering oxygen with standard precautions. Although there is no statistical effect of the VCR 3600 method on suctioning and oxygenation skills, the use of this method has the opportunity to increase students' knowledge and be used as a variation of practical learning methods.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a major public health problem with increasing prevalence and significant risk of cardiovascular complications, particularly in primary healthcare settings. Limited community knowledge and low levels of structured physical activity contribute to inadequate non-pharmacological hypertension control. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge, attitudes, and practical skills in hypertension management through structured health education and brisk walking exercise in the working area of Kanjilo Public Health Center. The intervention employed an educational and participatory approach involving 30 adults and older adults with or at risk of hypertension. Activities included baseline assessment, delivery of hypertension education, demonstration and supervised brisk walking practice, and post-intervention evaluation. Results showed substantial improvements in cognitive and behavioral outcomes. The proportion of participants with good knowledge increased from 40.0% to 86.7%, positive attitudes from 46.7% to 83.3%, and understanding of physical activity benefits from 43.3% to 90.0%. Additionally, 83.3% were able to correctly perform brisk walking, and 86.7% expressed commitment to regular physical activity. These findings indicate that integrating health education with moderate-intensity aerobic exercise is feasible and effective in strengthening community-based hypertension control. The program demonstrates potential as a promotive and preventive model within primary healthcare services.

Abstract

Quality of life aspects include physical health, psychological well-being, independence, social relationships, relationships with the environment, and spiritual well-being. A good quality of life is characterized by optimal functional condition in the elderly when spiritual aspects are met. This is expected to improve the quality of life of the elderly, enabling them to enjoy their old age with meaning and happiness. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the spiritual level of the elderly and the quality of life of the elderly in the Samata Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area. This study used a quantitative and descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional study approach using the SWBS and WHOQOL-OLD questionnaires, and analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results of the univariate study showed that the majority of elderly people were in the high spiritual level category and had a high quality of life (64.6%). Meanwhile, the bivariate test showed a significant relationship between spiritual level and quality of life in the elderly with a p-value of 0.011. The conclusion of this study is that the higher the spiritual level of the elderly, the higher the quality of life.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the practice of natural resource exploitation in Indonesia’s mining sector from the perspective of Sharia economic law, particularly through the concepts of maslahah (Benefit) and mafsadah (harm). The research focuses on assessing the extent to which mining activities generate not only economic benefits but also environmental, social, and distributive justice implications in natural resource governance. This study employs a qualitative design using a library research approach. Data were collected from statutory regulations, scholarly journal articles, books, official reports, and relevant Islamic legal literature. The data analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach through content analysis in order to connect empirical findings on mining practices with the normative framework of Sharia economic law. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s mining sector makes an important contribution to economic growth, particularly in supporting industrial expansion and investment. However, these benefits do not fully reflect public maslahah, as they are accompanied by environmental degradation, deforestation, pollution, social conflict, public health risks, weak governance, and unequal distribution of benefits among communities living near mining areas. From the perspective of Sharia economic law, such conditions suggest that mining practices tend to lean more toward mafsadah when economic gains are not balanced by ecological responsibility, community protection, and distributive justice. The limitation of this study lies in its reliance on library-based research, which is not supported by direct field verification. The originality of this study lies in its effort to integrate Sharia economic law with issues of mining, environmental governance, and social justice within a more applicable framework of maqasid al-syariah. Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension remains a leading global public health challenge. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that the number of adults living with hypertension increased from 650 million in 1990 to 1.3 billion in 2019, contributing substantially to premature mortality and disability worldwide. In Indonesia, hypertension is a major non-communicable disease and a significant contributor to cardiovascular morbidity. Effective blood pressure control requires sustained self-management, including adherence to medication, dietary modifications, physical activity, and stress management. Family support is theoretically considered a reinforcing factor for improving self-management behavior among patients with chronic diseases. To examine the relationship between family support and self-management behavior among clients with hypertension at the Rappokalling Community Health Center, Makassar City. Research Methodology: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted among 164 hypertensive clients selected using purposive sampling. Self-management was measured using the High Blood Pressure Self-Care Profile (HPB-SCP), and family support was assessed using a validated Family Support Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank correlation test with a 95% confidence interval (α=0.05). Results: Most respondents reported adequate family support (66.5%) and adequate self-management (95.8%). Spearman’s analysis showed a weak negative correlation between family support and self-management (r = −0.099) with no statistically significant association (p = 0.207; 95% CI). Conclusion: Family support was not significantly associated with self-management behavior among hypertensive clients. Public health interventions should not rely solely on family involvement but also address individual motivational and psychological determinants to improve hypertension self-management.
