Abstract

Background: Pharmaceutical manufacturers face growing pressure to achieve sustainable performance while meeting strict regulations and adapting to digital transformation. However, the impact of Industry 4.0 technologies and knowledge management on sustainable performance remains inconsistent, especially in highly regulated environments. Objective: This study investigates the differing effects of Industry 4.0 and knowledge management on sustainable performance and explores the moderating role of transformational leadership in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Methods: Survey data were collected from 425 managers working at Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-certified pharmaceutical firms in the Jabodetabek region of Indonesia and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: The results demonstrate that Industry 4.0 has a positive and significant direct effect on sustainable performance, confirming its role as an operational enabler in regulated environments. In contrast, knowledge management has no significant direct effect on sustainable performance, indicating that its contribution remains limited when it is primarily associated with compliance and documentation practices. Transformational leadership negatively moderates the relationship between Industry 4.0 and sustainable performance, suggesting a misalignment between this leadership style and the need for process stability during the early stages of digital implementation. Conversely, transformational leadership positively moderates the relationship between knowledge management and sustainable performance, indicating that leadership conditions influence the extent to which knowledge management contributes to performance outcomes. Conclusion: These findings suggest that organizational capability effectiveness depends on alignment with leadership style. Managers should stabilize digital processes and promote knowledge management through learning-oriented leadership to improve sustainable performance.

Abstract

The acceleration of digitalization in maritime logistics necessitates a comprehensive understanding of information integration mechanisms affecting port operational excellence. This study investigates the impact of internal and external information integration on port performance through the mediating roles of supply chain management practices and port community operational capability. Employing an explanatory quantitative approach, data were collected from 299 stakeholders across Indonesian port communities using a purposive sampling technique. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling analysis reveals that internal information integration indirectly influences port performance exclusively through both mediating variables, whereas external information integration demonstrates both direct and indirect effects. Supply chain management practices and port community operational capability serve as significant mediators, confirming Resource-Based View and Dynamic Capabilities Theory propositions. Findings indicate that effective digitalization transcends technological infrastructure advancement, requiring organizational capability development and collaborative ecosystem cultivation among stakeholders. This research contributes to theoretical advancement in port information integration literature and provides practical implications for port authorities to prioritize external collaboration, strengthening, and capability-building initiatives for optimizing digital transformation outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of demand, quality, technology, and cold chain logistics risks on supply chain resilience and its impact on cold chain logistics performance, including the role of supply chain resilience as a mediating variable. The study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method targeting stakeholders in the cold chain logistics industry, with data analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that demand, quality, and technology have a positive effect on supply chain resilience, whereas cold chain logistics risks have no significant effect. Supply chain resilience is proven to have a positive and significant effect on cold chain logistics performance and mediates the influence of demand, quality, and technology on performance, while mediation through the risk variable is not supported. Additionally, technology and cold chain logistics risks have a direct effect on cold chain logistics performance. These findings confirm that improving cold chain logistics performance is more effectively achieved by strengthening supply chain resilience through robust demand management, consistent quality systems, and the application of technology. This conclusion can serve as a basis for managerial decision-making and cold chain logistics policy development..

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Lean Management implementation on supply chain performance and operational cost efficiency in the Indonesian mining sector. Amid increasing global pressures for efficiency and sustainability, the lean approach has become a critical strategy to eliminate waste and enhance supply chain responsiveness. A quantitative method was employed using a survey distributed to 156 respondents, including Heads of Mining Engineering, logistics managers, and relevant operational personnel. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) approach. The results reveal that Lean Supply Chain Practices (LSCP) significantly mediate the relationship between Lean Management Implementation (LMI) and improvements in both supply chain performance (SCP) and operational cost efficiency (OCE). Furthermore, Organizational Readiness (OR) positively moderates the relationship between LMI and LSCP, although the effect is moderate. These findings underscore that the success of lean transformation in the mining industry heavily depends on organizational preparedness and integrated supply chain practices. These findings offer practical guidance for mining firms and contribute to the refinement of lean transformation theory in extractive supply chains.

Abstract

Employee retention presents a significant challenge within human resource management, particularly in the travel industry, characterized by intense competition in the labor market, ongoing digital transformation, and shifting employee expectations. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the existing literature on strategies for employee retention by evaluating the roles of training, reward systems, and work-life balance, as well as their interrelations with work motivation and organizational commitment. A qualitative approach was adopted utilizing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology. Relevant articles published between 2019 and 2025 were identified, screened, evaluated, and synthesized in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. The findings reveal that competency-based training, equitable reward systems, and effective work-life balance policies are essential strategic practices that enhance employee motivation, bolster organizational commitment, and improve retention rates. Moreover, work motivation and organizational commitment act as critical psychological mechanisms elucidating how strategic human resource management practices influence employees' decisions to remain with an organization. This study proposes a conceptual model that integrates the Resource-Based View (RBV), Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM), and Social Exchange Theory (SET) to offer a more comprehensive understanding of employee retention within the travel industry. The findings contribute to the advancement of human resource management literature and provide practical insights for organizations aiming to design sustainable employee retention strategies that enhance competitiveness and long-term performance.
