Abstract

Title :Relationship of mother's knowledge and attitudes about nutrition, and sanitation with stunting in elementary schoolBackground : Primary school periode is a time where children begin to enter school and know about the school environment. Stunting is a form of abnormal growth on children caused by long-term malnutrition and infectious diseases. The growth of elementary school of children requires intake of macro nutrients and micro nutrients. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mother's knowledge and attitudes about nutrition, protein intake and zinc in children, and sanitation with stunting incidence in children on elementary school. Methods : Quantitative research methods with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples was 66 participants. Data analysis used chi square. Result : The analysis showed a correlation between mother's knowledge and attitudes about nutrition with the incidence of stunting (p <0.05) and the absence of a relationship between protein intake and children's zinc and home sanitation with the incidence of stunting (p> 0.05). However, confounding variables showed correlance between maternal height and history of infection with stunting (p <0.05). Conclusion : It is suggested that given the importance of knowledge and well attitudes from mothers regarding child development and nutrition,  is recommended that the health department provide information to mothers or prospective mothers regarding the importance of nutrition to children. It aims to minimize the incidence of stunting in children.

Abstract

In the same manner as the other developing countries, Indonesia also remains face the difficulties against the high prevalence rate of infectious diseases, particularly ones that related with bad environmental condition. One of them, which is usually occurred in elementary school children and have a negative effect on their growth and development, is soil transmitted helminthiasis, an infection of intestinal worm transmitted through soil or known as helminthic disease. Three kinds of them are Ascaris lumbricoides, whipworm (Trichuris trichiura), and hookworm (Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale). Based on that background, this research tried to formulate the problem as follows: is there any relationship between house sanitation and the occurrence of helminthic disease reinfection on students of Bandarharjo 02-04 Elementary School? Conclusions taken from this research are: the occurrence rate of helminthic disease reinfection on Bandarharjo 02-04 Elementary School students in Semarang Regency was 48,3%, most of student’s houses (73,3%) were in a “not so good” environmental sanitation condition. There was no relationship between house sanitation and the occurrence of helminthic disease reinfection on students of Bandarharjo 02-04 Elementary School (p-value > 0,05) Key words : Environmental sanitation, reinfection, soil transmitted helminths

Abstract

Kata kunci: Ibu Menyusui; ASI, Protein; Asupan Protein; Status Gizi ABSTRACT Title: Relationship Between Protein Intake, Nutritional Status of Breastfeeding Mothers and Protein Content in Breast Milk: Literature ReviewBackground: The content of human milk (ASI) that has an important function to preventing morbidity and mortality for infant is protein. Protein in human milk has many functions such as development, immunity, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-infective. The protein content in breast milk is influenced by several things, there are maternal protein intake and nutritional status of breastfeeding mothers. The source of protein consumed by breastfeeding mothers will be absorbed by the body and then flowed into the breast milk bag for further use in the formation of breast milk protein. Mothers who have good nutritional status will absorb protein intake better so that the protein content in breast milk are being optimal. The purpose of this literature study was to determine whether there was a relationship between protein intake, nutritional status of breastfeeding mothers and protein content in breast milk.Method: The type of research is a literature study because researcher using data sources from online databases, including SCOPUS, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Proquest, and the Garuda Portal which contains accredited national and international journals.Result: There are found 7389 articles based on keywords. The final results obtained 18 articles that meet the requirements for review. There are 9 articles related to protein intake of breastfeeding mothers on protein content of breast milk, 13 articles related to nutritional status of breastfeeding mothers on protein content of breast milk, and 4 articles regarding protein intake and nutritional status of breastfeeding mothers on protein content of breast milk. Conclusion: There are 4 out of a total of 9 articles stating a relationship between protein intake and protein content of breast milk. There are 8 out of 13 articles stating that there is a relationship between the nutritional status of breastfeeding mothers and the protein content of breast milk. There are 2 out of 4 articles stated that there was a relationship between protein intake of breastfeeding mothers and protein content in breast milk, and there was no relationship between nutritional status of breastfeeding mothers and protein content in breast milk. Protein intake has an indirect relationship to protein content in breast milk because the absorption of protein intake in the mother and protein production in breast milk is influenced by the nutritional status of the mother and hormones. The nutritional status of breastfeeding mothers has a direct relationship to the protein content of breast milk. Mothers who have good nutritional status will absorb protein from food optimally and will produce breast milk with optimal protein content. Keywords: Breastfeeding Mother; Human Milk; Protein; Protein Intake; Nutritional Status

Abstract

Neonatal mortality, largely caused by Low Birth Weight (LBW), is a big challenge in Grobogan district, Central Java. For instance, the year 2020 recorded 111 infant mortality cases due to LBW. The following year, an additional 63 cases were reported from January- July bringing the total to 174 instances recorded in less than two years. Early marriage in women has been touted as the cause of the high LBW witnessed. Notably, Law Number 16 of 2019 set the base age at 19 years for marriage for both men and women. Statistics show that a total of 380 women got married at 19 years in 2020. However, the cases have significantly heightened to 453 in the year 2021. The research sample for this study was drawn from babies born to women aged 30 and below. The data was analyzed using the Chi-square test, whose results confirmed that residence, level of education, and employment status were related to the incidence of early marriage in women. Furthermore, it was found that women who married at 20 years and below had a greater risk (1,728 times) compared to those who gave birth between 20-30 years.
