Abstract

A study has been conducted on the transesterification of Calophyllum innophyllum seed oil with ethanol. The purpose of this research is to determine the comparison of concentration of phosphoric acid used to remove the gum on the oil, ester content is produced in the process of transesterification with ethanol, the ester yield obtained after the final stage of the transesterification process, the viscosity of the biodiesel produced, moisture content of biodiesel is produced, and density of biodiesel was produced. This research is taken based on consideration production biodiesel by direct transesterification process. Based on research result of good phosphoric acid concentration used to remove oil gum is 85%, volume of biodiesel produced at transesterification equal to 150 mL with yield 80,89%, biodiesel quality parameter measured that viscosity = 0,05 mm2 / s not fulfill Indonesian National Standart (INS), moisture content = 0.045 meets the INS and the density = 0.881 g / cm3 meets the INS

Abstract

Study of the transesterification of Calophyllum innophyllum seed oil from Kendari with methanol has been conducted. The purpose of the research to determine of the yield of ester produced in transesterification process with methanol, the viscosity of biodiesel produced, moisture content of biodiesel produced, density of biodiesel produced. The methods used in this study are sample preparation, transesterification process, biodiesel quality parameter test consisting of viscosity, moisture content and density. The results showed that good concentration of phosphoric acid was used to remove the gum is 85%, the yield of ester produced in the process of transesterification with methanol is 111,647%, parameter of biodiesel quality measured that viscosity = 0,315 mm2/ s not fulfill Indonesian National Standart (INS), water content is 0.02 meets the INS and the density = 0.8725 g / cm3 meets the INS standard

Abstract

A study of variations in the concentration of NaOH and H2SO4 to purify silica from rice husk ash and its application as adsorbent of Pb2+ and Cu2+ Metal Ions. The NaOH concentrations used were 8%, 9%, 10%, 11%, 12% and 13% and H2SO4 concentrations were 5.4%, 8.16%, 10.88%, and 13.61%. The process of adsorption of Pb2+ and Cu2+ metal ions was carried out at pH (3, 4, 5, 6) and silica masses. The results showed the silica yield obtained in the form of white powder. The highest silica content at 12% NaOH concentration of 41.81% with a purity of 89.09% and H2SO4 concentration is 10.88% at 65.39% with a purity of 94.94% initial content 86.02%. The results of surface structure characterization using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) average size of particle diameter was 0.030 µm. Optimal adsorption process of Pb2+ and Cu2+ metal ions using silica from rice husk occurred at pH 6 and the adsorbent mass was 0.3 gram, the adsorption efficiency was 98% and 86.25% respectively with adsorption capacity of 0.96 mg/g for metal Pb2+ and 0.83 mg/g for Cu2+ metals.

Abstract

Research on the use of the spray aeration method with adsorption of cocoa rind powder to reduce iron and manganese levels in dug well water has been carried out. This study aims to make comparisons from two methods to reduce iron and manganese in dug well water. The parameters optimized in this study are the aeration time and the variation of the addition of the adsorbent mass and the adsorption time. Based on the research results, the spray aeration time for 2 hours gave the optimal percentage reduction for Fe3+ and Mn4+ metal ions, namely 98.68% and 94.22%. Meanwhile, for adsorption using cocoa pod husk powder, the optimal reduction occurred in the adsorbent mass of 0.2 grams and the adsorption time of 60 minutes for iron and manganese 96.36% and 95.15%, respectively.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has led to the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) in various sectors, including education. In higher education, collaborative learning is a key element in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. However, traditional learning environments face limitations in fostering effective collaboration among students. Virtual Reality offers innovative solutions by creating immersive and interactive environments that can bridge the gap between physical and virtual spaces. This study aims to investigate the impact of VR on collaborative learning in higher education, exploring how VR technologies influence student interaction, engagement, and overall learning outcomes. The research uses a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews with students and faculty and quantitative data through surveys. The study focuses on students who participated in VR-based collaborative learning activities across different disciplines. Preliminary results indicate that VR enhances communication, problem-solving, and teamwork among students, fostering a more engaging and productive learning experience. Additionally, students reported increased motivation and a deeper understanding of complex concepts through the immersive nature of VR. The study concludes that VR is a valuable tool for enhancing collaborative learning in higher education, offering potential for wider application in various academic fields. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term effects of VR in educational settings and its scalability across diverse institutions.

Abstract

Pelatihan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif di SMA di daerah Karawang dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahap: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Tahap persiapan melibatkan perolehan izin, koordinasi dengan pihak sekolah, perekrutan peserta, dan pengembangan kurikulum pelatihan. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dalam dua sesi utama: sesi kedua terdiri dari pembukaan dan penyampaian materi tentang berpikir kritis dan kreatif, serta sesi ketiga yang berfokus pada strategi mind mapping dan latihan praktis. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk menilai peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif siswa melalui perbandingan skor prates dan pascates. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif pada mayoritas peserta, dengan 33 siswa mengalami peningkatan skor, 5 siswa mengalami penurunan, dan 2 siswa tidak mengalami perubahan. Pelatihan ini juga meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam merencanakan pilihan jurusan perguruan tinggi, meskipun terdapat beberapa kendala.

Abstract

Bacground. The traditional lecture-based model of teaching in higher education has faced increasing criticism due to its limited engagement and ability to foster active learning. In response, the flipped classroom model has emerged as a promising alternative, where students engage with instructional content outside the classroom and use class time for collaborative and interactive activities. This pedagogical shift aims to enhance student learning outcomes, promote critical thinking, and increase overall engagement. Purpose. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of flipped classroom models in higher education, focusing on their impact on student engagement, academic performance, and learning outcomes. Method: A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis of student performance data with qualitative insights from surveys and interviews. A sample of 200 students from five different universities participated in flipped classroom courses, and their learning outcomes were compared to those of students in traditional lecture-based courses. Data were collected at the beginning and end of the semester to assess changes in engagement and academic performance. Results: The study found that students in flipped classrooms showed significantly higher levels of engagement and academic performance compared to their peers in traditional settings. Students reported increased satisfaction with the learning process, particularly in terms of collaborative learning and self-paced study. Conclusion: The flipped classroom model proves to be an effective strategy for enhancing student engagement and improving learning outcomes in higher education. This approach fosters a more active, student-centered learning environment that better prepares students for real-world challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to: determine the quality and readability of acid-base worksheets based on discovery learning. The research method used is R&D (Research and Development) with research stages adapted to the Borg and Gall theory modified by Sugiyono. The research stages carried out were data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, limited trial, and product revision. The quality of the worksheet student developed was validated by 3 material experts. The readability test of the LKPD developed was seen from the responses of 9 students. The results showed that the average validator assessment was 92.11% (very valid category). The average assessment of the readability test by students is 3.46 with a good category (limited scale trial). Based on the validation of experts and student responses, the LKPD developed was valid and suitable to be used as a learning tool in acids and bases

Abstract

Program Kemitraan Masyarakat Internal Universitas Halu Oleo (PKMI-UHO) merupakan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat yang diharapkan memberikan model untuk mengatasi berbagai masalah dengan memberikan solusi terutama pengelolaan sumber daya alam menjadi produk bernilai jual tinggi dengan memanfaatkan teknologi sederhana. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah sosialisasi dan pelatihan tentang pengolahan kelapa menjadi keripik kepada masyarakat Kelurahan Petoahaa. Meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat melalui transfer pengetahuan dalam mengelolah potensi lokal tanaman kelapa menjadi keunggulan lokal melalui produksi olahan kripik kelapa dan membantu menambah sumber pendapatan dalam mencapai taraf kehidupan yang lebih baik. Metode pendekatan yang dilakukan dengan cara edukasi dan pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat terutama dari ibu-ibu rumah tangga mitra kerja memperoleh keterampilan dalam membuat keripik kelapa yang bernilai jual dan memasarkaan produk keripik kelapa agar dikenali oleh masyarakat luas.

Abstract

This study determined the effectiveness of Sparkol video scribe media and students' responses to redox reaction learning. The sample in this study was 29 students of class X IPA2 SMA Negeri 1 Konawe Selatan, as many as 29 people. The research method used is a pre experimental research design One-group Pre-test Post-test Design. We collected data in this study using research instruments such as multiple choice questions, student and teacher activity observation sheets, and student response questionnaires to the learning process. The results showed that using sparkol video scribe learning media improved student learning outcomes from an average of 22.51 to 79.92 with effectiveness of 0.73 (high) and student responses of 70.69%. From the results of the analysis it was found that the use of sparkol videoscribe had an impact on the effectiveness of student learning and was able to have an impact on student involvement in learningKeywords: sparkol videoscribe, learning outcomes, redox reaction.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp780-791
