Abstract

Aquascape is one form of media that can be used for fish maintenance, especially ornamental fish for home scale. Aquascape itself is the identity of life that represents the original habitat of fish. Physically, the aquarium is only a place or container. Aquascape is the art of combining aquatic plants and ornamental fish in water media. However, the existing Aquscape products are generally large in size with expensive prices so that they can only be reached by large consumers such as hotels, restaurants, and offices. The use of mangrove waste is an alternative and also the use of natural materials that are environmentally friendly. Aquascape can meet the needs of the middle to lower market and accommodate the needs of office workers who do not have a large space or place to put an aquarium, so the mini Aquascape business becomes very promising. Some of the problems faced in presenting the natural atmosphere, starting from the fish that cannot survive to the dirty and mossy fish Aquascape quickly. By conducting training on making mini Aquascapes and fish rearing techniques, especially ornamental fish, it is hoped that it can provide information to coastal community fishermen to try to apply it to home micro scale. The method used is field observation, coupled with literature studies and socialization to fishermen on the Sulamanda coast.

Abstract

Agroforestry systems play a critical role in supporting livelihoods across East Nusa Tenggara, including in the Bu'u Bei Community Forest (HKm) in Tina Bani Village, Ende District, Ende Regency, Indonesia. This study investigates agroforestry patterns and evaluates their contribution to household income among the 47 HKm member households, surveyed through a census in April and May 2024. Employing both descriptive and quantitative analyses, our research reveals that the agrisilviculture system, characterised by a random mixed planting pattern, dominates agroforestry practices in the village. Path dependency, rooted in long-standing traditions, significantly shapes these practices. Agroforestry contributed significantly to household income in 2023, accounting for 98.87% of total income. However, poor infrastructure, particularly damaged roads, limits market access and reduces the economic potential of these systems. The study emphasises the need for integrated land management approaches that address infrastructure deficits while strengthening the resilience of agroforestry systems. This research provides critical insights into the socio-economic and environmental roles of agroforestry, offering a valuable reference for policymakers and stakeholders committed to promoting sustainable forest management and rural development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Forests naturally function as the foundation and direction of life on this surface of the earth. Besides the production of wood, forests also provide environmental services and nontimber forest products (NTFPs). NTFPs include honey, tamarind, resin, rattan, medicinal ingredients, and others. NTFP products have become a source of income as well as direct income for meeting the needs of many households and communities around the world. Loli Village is one of the villages in the Laob Tunbes forest area, a production forest in Regency South Central Timor. The Loli village community uses Apis dorsata forest honey bees, which nest in trees around the Laob Tunbes forest area. The purpose of the study was to analyze/evaluate the financial feasibility of using non-honey forest products as income from forest honey harvesting in Loli Village, Poland District, South-Central Timor Regency. Descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods are used as research methods. The data obtained was then processed and analyzed using quantitative data analysis techniques in the form of affordability analyses. The business analysis used takes the form of an analysis of production costs, production results, revenue calculation, net income calculation, break even point (BEP), payback period (PP), R/C ratio and B/C ratio. relationship. Based on the results of the analysis of the financial feasibility of using NTFPs, honey in the village of Loli has an R/C value of 2.15 and a B/C value of 1.15 and PP occurs at 0.46 or 0 years 4 months 6 days. From these results, it can be concluded that the business of using honey NTFPs in Loli village is feasible
