Abstract

Abstract

This simple article discusses the concept of naskh and its division in Qur'anic studies. The study of naskh has become increasingly important, not only in ulumul Qur'an but also extending to other Shari'ah disciplines, including the science of ushul fiqh, which concentrates on the discovery of legal arguments and methods of istinbath Shari'ah law. This article argues for the importance of reviewing the study of naskh by placing maqashid scales as a parameter on the fulfillment of benefits and harms, especially with regard to the classification of naskh and the distribution of examples. The author uses the literature study method in this research by referring to motherbooks in classical ulumul Qur'an studies as well as various contemporary references, including recent scientific journal articles, in order to discuss the issue of the concept of naskh in the review of fiqh maqashid studies and debate the long-circulating shubhat views surrounding the study of naskh. The results of the study show that the division of the kinds of naskh by rasm and tilawah as narrated in 'ulumul Qur'an into three forms - according to the review of Fiqh Maqashid - is unacceptable, because it opens the door to doubt and even skepticism about the Book of Allah, therefore such a model of naskh division must be rejected to realize a greater and greater benefit in maintaining this religion and maintaining the sanctity and authenticity of the Qur'an.

Abstract

The development of science and technology at the present time in the treatment of water has affected the understanding of the meaning of water and the provisions of its use in jurisprudence, which led to a change in the meaning of absolute, pure and purified water. If the mazhab scholars discuss the status of water that consists of absolute water, used water, mixed water and impure water without any expansion of the return of the water status to the absolute state through unnatural processes, then contemporary scholars seek to expand the status of water to become absolute, pure and purified by an unnatural process. This research uses the library studies method with a comparison between the mazhab scholars and contemporary scholars in understanding absolute water, and uses an analytical framework based on the theory of Istihālah in the process of recycling or distilling water. The results of the study indicate that there are efforts to renew and expand the form of absolute water by contemporary scholars through the process of Istihālah, so that the water that was used, or impure water, sewage or waste, becomes absolutely pure and purified water again, if it goes through a hydrological process. The renewal and expansion of the meaning of the absolute is a creative effort and a kind of contemporary jurisprudence that goes in line with the spirit that jurisprudential rulings are constantly evolving within the framework of accommodating the development of science and technology.

Abstract

Pipelines are an important tool in oil and gas exploration. Pipeline is a transmission and liquid collection lines, including their accessories, which transport fluids from one plant to another. In transmission and collection process, there is a possibility of failure which can have minor to major impact on personnel injury, the environment and interrupt the business process. To maintain safety and to prevent accidents, the source and cause of failure needs to be calculated. Risk-based inspection (RBI) is a method that can be used to calculate the risk and determine the inspection planning both schedule and method, by combining the probability and consequences of failure. The analysis shows that the production separator is in the low-risk category. The next inspection schedule is determined based on RBI estimation which is 13 years after the last inspection. Inspection methods that can be applied to subsea pipeline based on DNVGL-RP-F116 standard are external inspection, in-line inspection with intelligent pig, and monitoring system. For external inspection can use Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). In-line inspection (ILI) with intelligent pig need to validate by with underwater UT B-Scan in the following year. The monitoring system only needs to be continued from what has been installed, corrosion coupon. It only needs to be adjusted for the length of installation time according to its purpose, to measure corrosion rate or detect pitting.

Abstract

Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology is one of the available technologies to reduce presence of greenhouse gasses. Implementation of CCUS technology strongly relates with the CO2 transportation from the capturing facility to the storage in the geological reservoir. The most economical method for large-scale and long-distance CO2 transportation is using pipeline in supercritical phase. Moreover, presence of impurities such as water, O2, SO2, H2S, NO2 may cause detrimental effect towards carbon steel pipeline. This paper intends to provide an initial information for supercritical CO2 pipeline material selection, which review and summarize existing research on corrosion under supercritical CO2 environment. This paper present environment categorization in supercritical CO2 stream, impurities effect toward sample, as well as brief discussion about corrosion evaluation method.

Abstract

One of the key challenges in asset integrity management system at offshore platform is the lack of visibility regarding performance issues and program effectiveness. Without proper performance measurement systems, it becomes difficult to address positive or negative trends promptly and for management to stay informed about the status and the impact of the inspection program. Therefore, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is needed to measure inspection program effectiveness to prevent undesirable equipment failures that could lead to Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) or Process Safety Event (PSE). The developed KPI is the ratio of the number of non-leak inspection findings with a remaining life of less than 3 years to the total number of all anomalies with a remaining life of less than 3 years, including leak findings. By applying this KPI, inspection program effectiveness for an offshore field was monitored and improved firmly from 29% in 2018 to 82% in 2023, with some fluctuations in performance before achieving a strong recovery in later years.

Abstract

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a prevalent global health issue, yet current monitoring methods are often inaccessible or impractical for routine, at-home use. Objective: This study addresses the need for simple, non-invasive tools for sleep quality assessment. Methods: We developed and evaluated a novel, browser-based snoring detection application leveraging TensorFlow.js. A binary classification model was trained on a balanced dataset of snoring and background noise audio. A key feature of the application is its client-side architecture, where all audio processing and model inference occur locally on the user's device, ensuring real-time performance and preserving user privacy. The model's performance was validated on a holdout test set using standard classification metrics. Results: The model demonstrated robust performance, achieving an overall accuracy of 94.12%, a sensitivity of 95.00%, and a specificity of 93.22% in distinguishing snoring from ambient noise. The application successfully generated useful session statistics for users, including total snoring duration, frequency, and the percentage of snoring time during a monitoring session. Conclusion: This study validates the use of a browser-based AI system as a reliable, scalable, and privacy-preserving tool for sleep quality monitoring. While not a diagnostic instrument, the application serves as a highly accessible preliminary screening and awareness tool. This approach represents a significant step toward democratizing sleep health monitoring and empowering individuals to take an active role in managing their well-being.

Abstract

This article provides an analytical study of the legal reasoning and arguments underpinning the DSN-MUI fatwa that permits Hajj financing through debt and financing schemes. Utilizing a descriptive literature review, the study traces relevant fatwas and examines their sharia bases, particularly the principles of maqasid al-shari'ah such as al-ibāhah (permissibility) and manhaj al-taysir (the approach of ease). The research aims to explore how this fatwa adapts to modern economic contexts while preserving core sharia principles, particularly regarding the reinterpretation of istitha’ah (capability). Findings demonstrate that the fatwa is fundamentally supported by a paradigm oriented toward achieving maslahat (benefit) and dar’ al-mafsad (avoidance of harm), emphasizing justice and accessibility for Muslim communities seeking to perform Hajj via sharia-compliant financing. This study offers in-depth insights into the legal construction and foundational sharia principles used by DSN-MUI, contributing critical perspectives on the social and economic implications of debt-based Hajj financing for scholars, Islamic finance practitioners, and policymakers.
