Abstract

This training aims to increase the knowledge and skills of yasinan women in Kiram Village to make health drinks made from medicinal plants. Activities are carried out using lecture, demonstration and direct practice methods which are designed to provide interactive and applied learning so that participants can understand in depth the process of making health drinks and apply it independently. The evaluation results show an increase in understanding of knowledge and technology by 16.78%, meaning the successful transfer of knowledge and skills by the implementing team. In this training, there are three types of health drinks that are most popular, namely healthy turmeric and sour, healthy kencur rice, and healthy turmeric and sour plus ginger because they are easy to make, have a popular taste, and have high health benefits.  Apart from improving skills, this activity is also expected to open up economic opportunities for yasinan mothers through the production and sale of natural-based health drinks. This training supports the development of community-based small businesses that can increase family income by utilizing local medicinal plants. This training contributes to efforts to create independent villages in the health sector and improve the quality of life of the community as a whole. It is hoped that the continuation of this program will have a wider positive impact, both from the social, economic and health aspects of the Kiram Village community. This program can also be a model for community empowerment that can be replicated in other villages.

Abstract

People of Martapura City and its surroundings often use incense/bukhur as an air freshener for religious activities. One of the home businesses that produce it is Kholy Zaini. The business was founded 12 years ago with the premise that when pioneering it was that people in the city liked incense/bukhur, while most of it was obtained from imports from the island of Java. Even though it has been running for a long time until now there is still no IPRT and in its manufacture, I t still uses synthetic fragrances, which hurts health. This program is implemented to provide understanding and solutions to partners so that the products produced don’t negatively impact the future. The methods implemented include socialization activities, counseling, discussions, training, and mentoring. The solution that the PKM Team provides to partners is to replace synthetic fragrances with natural fragrances obtained from the distillation of ylang flowers. The process used to make incense/bukhur from natural fragrances is like making it in general, but the difference is da distillation of ylang flowers to get a natural fragrance. The PKM team succeeded in making a natural fragrance from the distillation of ylang flowers. In addition, the PKM team also teaches the company's bookkeeping to partners and develops a website to market their products. The advantages of this PKM activity are making incense/bukhur more environmentally friendly, partners can make the right decisions and increasing sal, es and making products known more widely.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country rich in forest products. One of which is Gaharu, a treeless forest product with high economic value for the perfume, incense, and pharmaceutical industries. Gaharu in Indonesia comes from gaharu trees that are infected with bacteria so that the result is gaharu. Many aloes grow in Indonesia, one of which is in the settlement around the PT Arutmin Indonesia mine. In this case, the community needs science and technology to optimally utilize the abundant gaharu in their area. The purpose of this service is to provide science and technology as well as additional skills in utilizing gaharu effectively and quickly. The community was very enthusiastic in this service activity by actively participating in activities both from socialization to the practice of making gaharu sapwood inoculation. The manufacture of gaharu sapwood by inoculation is carried out using a drilling machine by wounding the trunk of the gaharu tree and then the wound is given bacteria that can make gaharu produce resin that is useful and of high selling value.

Abstract

Bakut Island is one of the conservation forest areas in South Kalimantan. This island is the habitat of proboscis monkeys, and the proboscis monkey population is increasing from year to year. Therefore, it is estimated that one day the proboscis monkey habitat on Bakut Island will be over capacity. This study aims to estimate how long the population of proboscis monkeys on Bakut Island Nature Tourism Park can survive there by examining the amount of food the island's vegetation can produce. Proboscis monkey feed itself is estimated using the Leaf Area Index (LAI). LAI was extracted using UAV imaging and NICFI multitemporal imagery. Meanwhile, the carrying capacity of the proboscis monkey habitat is assessed using the quantity of consumption of the proboscis monkey population relative to food availability. Simulations of the carrying capacity of proboscis monkey habitat into the future were carried out using projections of the future proboscis monkey population and LAI growth. The entire computational process of simulating habitat carrying capacity is carried out using the Python language. The results of the analysis show that Bakut Island is only able to support proboscis monkey habitat until 2038. In that year, the proboscis monkey population on Bakut Island is projected to number 1,290 individuals. After 2038, the predicted amount of feed needed by the proboscis monkey population will exceed the feed available on Bakut Island. The limitation of this research is that it only uses one parameter to assess the carrying capacity of proboscis monkey habitat, namely food availability. There are still other parameters that have not been accommodated, including the home range and trees for nests.

Abstract

The proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus) is an endemic primate species of Borneo that plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of riparian forest ecosystems. However, habitat loss due to deforestation, land conversion, and urbanization has led to significant population declines. This study aims to analyze the habitat characteristics and dispersal patterns of the proboscis monkey in the riparian zone of the Tabunio Watershed, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Geospatial modeling techniques, including Kernel Density Analysis (KDA) and spatial regression, were employed to assess habitat suitability and predict species dispersal. Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery from 2018, 2019, and 2021 was utilized to extract vegetation biophysical parameters, such as Leaf Area Index (LAI), Canopy Chlorophyll Content (CCC), and Fraction of Vegetation Cover (FVC), which were integrated with field survey data. The results indicate a significant correlation between the distribution of proboscis monkeys and vegetation health, with dense riparian vegetation providing optimal habitat conditions for these monkeys. The findings also highlight the adverse impact of human-induced changes in land cover on populations of the proboscis monkey. Conservation measures, including habitat restoration and the establishment of protected areas, are recommended to mitigate habitat fragmentation and ensure the long-term survival of the species. This study contributes to the understanding of habitat dynamics and provides valuable insights for the sustainable management of riparian ecosystems in South Kalimantan
