Abstract

Problem-solving is essential for individuals to face various challenges in the 21st century. Therefore, problem-solving has become a primary goal in mathematics curricula worldwide. However, despite its importance, problem-solving remains one of the most challenging aspects to grasp in mathematics education. Several studies have shown that appropriate strategies and a positive attitude toward problem-solving can help improve students' problem-solving abilities. In this study, the author will examine the implementation of Pólya's mathematical problem-solving strategy. Additionally, the study will explore students' attitudes toward problem-solving and how these attitudes influence their performance. Finally, the research will assess the combined impact of Pólya's strategy and students' attitudes on their problem-solving abilities. This study employs a qualitative approach using content analysis methods. The results show that the top ten students from one of the best schools in Siak Regency still struggle to solve simple problems. This failure is attributed to inappropriate strategies and a lack of a positive attitude toward problem-solving. The study concludes that mastering problem-solving strategies and fostering a positive attitude are crucial for students to become effective problem solvers. Abstract

This study investigates participants' experiences in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). In the last decade, online learning has experienced rapid growth, and MOOCs have become one of the most popular forms of online learning. The digital transformation led to increased mobile and internet users, facilitating the adoption of online learning platforms. As one of the digital transformation products, this study aims to describe the use of Massive Open Online Courses from the perspectives of higher education students. Despite the increase of MOOCs use in the higher education, the dropout rates tend to be high. Students play an essential role in that case. This study focuses on MOOCs prior to learning, the activity during learning, and how the learning assessment is delivered from student perspectives. Using descriptive method, with the involvement of twelve MOOCs students from higher education. This study has concluded that the information presented in the prior learning process is essential regarding choosing specific MOOCs courses. Students value interaction and engage in content during the learning process, especially real-world examples. Although some participants found the assessment process challenging, it was perceived as relevant to the course objectives. At the same time, easy navigation and access to learning resources are essential for MOOCs platforms to be considered user-friendly courses. Overall, the study suggests that MOOCs students should be well informed initially. Then MOOCs courses should be delivered dynamically to maintain student motivation and provide relevant assessment. Abstract

Background of study: The rapid growth of Industry 4.0 and global labor market shifts push higher education to redesign curricula toward innovation, digitalization, and sustainability. Equipping graduates with 21st-century skills, employability, and adaptability is essential to prepare them for an increasingly complex workforce.Aims and scope of paper: This study aims to identify global trends in curriculum innovation for future workforce preparation in higher education (2020–2024). It examines dominant research clusters, the alignment of curriculum reforms with SDGs, and highlights areas that remain underexplored. Methods: A systematic literature review (SLR) combined with text mining was conducted using Scopus as the primary database. A total of 247 peer-reviewed documents were analyzed through bibliometric mapping, keyword co-occurrence, topic modeling using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), and semantic mapping via multidimensional scaling (MDS).Result: The findings show substantial publication growth, dominated by four key clusters: curriculum design and pedagogy, technology integration, sustainable curriculum, and blended/online learning. Emerging but less explored topics include curriculum decolonisation, problem-based learning, methodological literacy, and digital assessment. International collaboration is moderate (17.81%), though Southeast Asia and Africa show growing potential. Highly cited studies focus on digital transformation during COVID-19, online assessment integrity, and AI integration into curriculum frameworks. Conclusion: This study shows that curriculum innovation is mainly driven by digitalization and sustainability, while areas like decolonisation and methodological innovation are still lacking. The results provide theoretical, practical, and policy implications for designing adaptive, future-oriented curricula and open avenues for global collaboration and longitudinal studies in the field.
