Abstract

This research was motivated by an increase in the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women, namely according to (Riskesdas) in 2013, it was stated that the increase in the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women increased from 37.1% to 48.9%. Meanwhile, in Central Java Province, the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women is 43.5%. The impact caused by a pregnant mother suffering from anemia is that it inhibits the growth and development of the fetus in her womb. Apart from that, it can cause bleeding during the birth process, the baby is born with a low body weight, decreased intelligence, the baby's immunity decreases and the baby easily suffers from malnutrition. The research carried out had the aim of finding out the relationship between anemia in pregnant women and the weight of newborn babies at RSUD Dr. H. SOEWONDO KENDAL 2020 – 2021. Data collection uses the statistical data set method which is the use of data that is already available or called secondary data. Meanwhile, the data test uses the Spearman Rank test method. The relationship between anemia in pregnant women and the weight of newborn babies can be seen from the significance value, where the significance value in this study used the Spearman Rank test, namely 0.707 (p=0.707) where when compared with the value α=0.05 then p > 0 .05. So it shows that there is no relationship between anemia in pregnant women and the weight of newborn babies.

Abstract

In the daily activities of students in Indonesia, they require the use of bags to carry school books. There are various types of bags nowadays, one of which is often used is the backpack model. Every day teaching and learning activities are very busy, resulting in students bringing various school necessities. For example, textbooks, changes to school clothes, extra-curricular activities and so on, so that the backpack carried by each student becomes heavy or excessively burdened. This is something that students carry with them every day and especially for students aged 10-15 years, where this age is the golden period for growth and development and will have an influence on the formation of body posture. If the student's knowledge is lacking, this will result in asymmetry in body posture, and if left untreated, this will result in back pain and sceliosis. Methods Respondents were taken randomly as many as 78 students from a total of 225 students. Respondents were given a pretest before the counseling and a posttest after the counseling, then a presentation of the student's knowledge level was produced. Results and Discussion There was a significant increase after education was held for students, namely before the education was carried out there was a visible increase of 5%. Conclusion There is an increase in educational knowledge about the habit of using heavy backpacks on body posture and malocclusion at SMPN 56 Surabaya.

Abstract

Mild to moderate anemia impairs cognitive performance and academic engagement among adolescent girls, yet school-based nutrition programs in Indonesia focus largely on iron and vitamin A. This study evaluated whether a focused 30-day regimen of 20 mg/day zinc could improve both hemoglobin concentration and attention, as measured by the Stroop Color–Word Test, in 30 junior high school girls with baseline hemoglobin < 12 g/dL. Following daily supplementation, mean hemoglobin rose from 10.6 ± 0.5 g/dL to 12.4 ± 0.4 g/dL (Δ = 1.8 g/dL, p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 3.86), fully eliminating moderate anemia in this cohort. Stroop scores increased from 61.2 ± 5.3 to 75.8 ± 4.6 points (Δ = 14.6, p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 2.88), with no students remaining in the lowest concentration category post-intervention. These parallel gains reflect zinc’s dual role in enhancing erythropoiesis improving cerebral oxygen delivery—and modulating neurotransmission via NMDA/GABA balance and BDNF upregulation. Effect sizes exceed those typically reported for iron-only or broader micronutrient interventions. Findings support integrating a one-month zinc supplement into Indonesian school-health protocols to rapidly correct anemia and bolster cognitive readiness for learning.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of low birth weight babies (LBW) is important because it is an indicator to measure a child's health status, and until now it is still one of the health problems generally faced by developing countries, including Indonesia. One of the risk factors for LBW is the level of hemoglobin (Hb). Hemoglobin is a parameter that is widely used to determine the prevalence of anemia. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between hemoglobin levels of pregnant women and the incidence of low birth weight babies. Method: The research method used a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 49 respondents who were taken by simple random sampling method after fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria at the Ngegong, Mangunharjo and Demangan Health Centers, Madiun City. Result: Data obtained through the patient's medical record. Data analysis in this study using the Chi Square test obtained a p- value of 0.02 <0.05 and OR = 0.75. Conclusion: So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between low hemoglobin levels and the incidence of low birth weight, where low hemoglobin levels have a 0.75 times higher risk of experiencing LBW. The Spearman rank correlation coefficient value of 0.445 indicates the strength of the relationship between these two variables in the moderate category.
