Abstract

This study aims to investigate 1) Implementing university governance at State Islamic Religious College (hereinafter abbreviated as PTKIN) on the north coast (Pantura) of Central Java, 2) Differences in organizational commitment, 3) The effect of establishing university governance on organizational commitment, and 4) Higher education's competitive advantage seen from implementing university governance and organizational commitment. This study employed a quantitative approach with a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The research results demonstrated that, first, the principles of university governance at PTKIN in Central Java, especially in Kudus, Semarang, and Pekalongan, have been effectively implemented. Second, the analysis test revealed no noteworthy difference in the organizational commitment among the PTKIN managers. Third, the university governance variable (X) influenced organizational commitment (Y). In other words, the better the university governance implementation, the higher the structural officials' organizational commitment. Fourth, for an organization to thrive and achieve exceptional performance, it must possess advantages beyond mere cost-based and product-based advantages. Despite some deficiencies, the implementation of university governance and organizational commitment exposed effectiveness and efficiency. As such, State Islamic Universities in these areas have the potential to develop and progress.

Abstract

The management of mosque waqf land requires an effective monitoring system to ensure the sustainability of its social and religious functions; however, in practice at the local level, the monitoring mechanism for nazirs often faces structural and normative problems. This study aims to analyze the patterns of supervision of nazir in the management of the Nur Hasyim Mosque waqf land in Bulucenrana Village, Pitu Riawa District, Sidenreng Rappang Regency through a comparative approach between the Shafi'i school of thought and the provisions of Law Number 41 of 2004 concerning Waqf and its implementing regulations. The research focuses on the form of supervision, factors hindering supervision, and the conformity of supervisory practices with the normative framework of fiqh and positive law. This study uses a qualitative method with field research, integrating a juridical-normative and sociological approach to bridge the analysis of legal texts and empirical realities. Data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with nazirs, wakifs, and related parties, as well as documentation, then analyzed descriptively and analytically through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that supervision of nazirs is carried out through efforts to manage, develop, and implement waqf, but it has not been optimal. The main obstacles to supervision include the lack of guidance from the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) and the lack of certification of mosque waqf land. From the perspective of the Shafi'i school of thought, the authority of supervision should ideally lie with judges or the government, while in the practice of this study, supervision is actually carried out by the waqf, so it is not fully in line with the views of the school of thought. According to Law Number 41 of 2004 in conjunction with Government Regulation Number 42 of 2006, the supervision of waqf is carried out by the government and the community, both actively and passively. These findings indicate normative compatibility between the Shafi'i school of thought and positive law, but there are discrepancies at the implementation level.

Abstract

The high-energy milling (HEM) synthesis method has produced activated carbon powder from rubber ore shell waste. The activated carbon was prepared using a chemical method with activation temperatures varying between 400, 500, and 600°C. Temperature optimization resulted in activated carbon with a maximum carbon content at 600°C. The activated carbon was then milled for various times: 0, 30, 60, and 90 minutes. The crystallinity and surface morphology of the samples were then confirmed using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) characterization. Based on the XRD graph, the percentage of structural regularity, or degree of crystallinity, of the activated carbon tended to decrease from 18.17% without milling treatment to 17.52% at 30 minutes of milling, 17.45% at 60 minutes of milling, and 17.35% at 90 minutes of milling. SEM images also show a decrease in the average pore diameter from approximately 0.45 µm to 0.20 µm with a more homogeneous intraparticle morphology structure when the milling time is increased from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. This study demonstrates the potential of rubber seed shell waste for processing into activated carbon. The HEM method can significantly reduce the grain size of activated carbon and increase its surface area and reactivity, making it more effective in applications as an adsorbent and filter.

Abstract

Studies on religious tourism in Indonesia generally focus on socio-economic dimensions and destination management, while the integration of religious tourism management with the strengthening of religious moderation values at historic sites such as Masjid Menara Kudus remains relatively limited. This study aimed to describe the management practices of religious tourism at Masjid Menara Kudus and to analyze their role in fostering religious moderation among pilgrims and local communities. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed in the Masjid Menara Kudus area, Menara Kudus, and the Tomb of Sunan Kudus, with research subjects comprising foundation managers, religious leaders, vendors, pilgrims, and local residents. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, and were analyzed interactively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity tested using source and technique triangulation. The findings show that religious tourism management at Masjid Menara Kudus is implemented by balancing the sacred function of worship, cultural preservation, and economic activities, thereby creating spiritual comfort and social order. Religious moderation values are fostered through architectural acculturation, the management of religious traditions, and socio-religious practices that emphasize tolerance and respect for differences, in line with the da‘wah legacy of Sunan Kudus. These findings affirm that religious tourism has the potential to serve as a sustainable medium for religious moderation education and provide both conceptual and practical foundations for managers and policymakers in designing governance of religious destinations that is religiously grounded and oriented toward community welfare.
