Abstract

This study aims to develop a comprehensive evaluation model for Islamic education that integrates cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions while incorporating technology-assisted assessment methods. Utilising a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative literature analysis and quantitative instrument development (following the ADDIE model), the research identifies significant gaps in current evaluation practices, particularly the overemphasis on cognitive measurement and inadequate attention to character development. Findings reveal that while traditional evaluation methods dominate (with only 30% of Islamic schools adopting technology-based assessment), pilot implementations of the proposed multidimensional model demonstrate 42% improvement in character outcomes and 35% increased assessment efficiency. The study highlights three key innovations: (1) a three-domain evaluation framework aligned with Islamic educational objectives, (2) digital assessment tools preserving sharia principles, and (3) practical training modules for educator capacity building. Results further indicate that technology integration significantly reduces evaluation time (by approximately 60%) while improving accuracy in spiritual development tracking. The research contributes to educational reform by offering standardised instruments for holistic student assessment and evidence-based policy recommendations to align national education systems with Islamic values, addressing historical limitations in Islamic educational evaluation since the 12th century.

Abstract

The modernization of traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia has become an essential response to the challenges of contemporary education. Pesantren Modern Ar-Risalah Slahung Ponorogo stands as one of the institutions that successfully integrates classical Islamic education with modern learning systems, seeking to maintain a balance between religious and general knowledge. This study aims to analyze the modernization model applied in Pesantren Modern Ar-Risalah, particularly in the aspects of curriculum, teaching strategies, and institutional management. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through interviews with teachers and students, direct observations of learning activities, and documentation analysis. The results reveal that the modernization efforts are reflected in the integration of Islamic and general subjects, the adoption of student-centered learning methods, and the implementation of modern management principles. Such a model not only preserves pesantren traditions but also equips students with the necessary competencies to face global challenges. This research contributes to the broader discourse on pesantren modernization by offering insights into how traditional Islamic institutions can adapt to educational transformations while retaining their religious identity. Ultimately, the model developed at Pesantren Modern Ar-Risalah can serve as a reference for other Islamic boarding schools in implementing balanced and innovative educational reforms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Tilawati method in learning to read the Qur'an and memorizing the Qur'an in Islamic boarding schools. This study uses a qualitative and case study approach to explore the application of the Tilawati method in learning the Qur'an and its impact on the quality of student memorization in Islamic boarding schools. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with ustadz, students, and pesantren administrators, as well as participant observation and documentation. Data analysis includes data collection stages, condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The validity of the data is ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation. The learning strategies applied include talaqqi and musyafahah, gradual learning according to volume, the use of Tilawati tones (rost), routine evaluation, and the integration of learning in students' daily lives. The study results show that these strategies effectively build a strong and systematic foundation of Qur'an reading before students enter the Qur'an memorization program. Students who have completed the Tilawati program can read the Qur'an well, tartil, and a few Tajweed errors, so memorizing the Qur'an becomes faster and more qualified. This success is also supported by a periodic evaluation system, muroja'ah activities, and integrating learning into daily activities such as congregational prayers and joint recitations.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Amaliyatu-t-Tadris activities on the professionalism of prospective teachers at Kulliyyatul Mu’allimat Al-Islamiyah. The research was motivated by the increasing need for qualified teachers in Indonesia and the crucial role of Islamic boarding schools in preparing future educators. Using a quantitative approach with a regression design, primary data were collected from final-year students through a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire. The findings indicate that all items in the questionnaire were valid and reliable, with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.923 for Amaliyatu-t-Tadris and 0.915 for teacher professionalism. The Pearson correlation test revealed a strong positive relationship between Amaliyatu-t-Tadris activities and teacher professionalism (r = 0.811, p < 0.01). The regression analysis further showed that Amaliyatu-t-Tadris accounted for 65.8% of the variance in prospective teachers’ professionalism. These results demonstrate that structured microteaching practices embedded in Amaliyatu-t-Tadris effectively enhance pedagogical competence, classroom management, communication skills, and professional ethics. The study highlights the significance of integrating practice-based training into teacher education programs in Islamic institutions to cultivate professionalism and educational quality.

Abstract

The integration of 4C skills (Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity) in Islamic Religious and Character Education remains underexplored. This study examines how teachers at SMAN 1 Ngawi and SMAS Karya Pembangunan Paron understand and implement 4C skills, focusing on conceptual understanding, integration strategies, and challenge mitigation. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana framework. Findings reveal that SMAN 1 Ngawi demonstrated systematic 4C integration through structured curriculum design and technology-enhanced learning, reflecting comprehensive conceptual understanding. Conversely, SMAS Karya Pembangunan Paron exhibited fundamental understanding with adapted strategies utilizing reflective discussions and contextual projects to compensate for technological constraints. Both institutions encountered distinct challenges addressed through strategic planning, differentiated assessment, collaborative environments, and community partnerships. This study concludes that successful 4C implementation requires conceptual mastery, context-responsive strategies, and systemic support mechanisms for enhancing educational quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Hubbul Ilmii method in improving the ability to read the Qur'an in early childhood at Griya Qur'an al-Inayah Pulung Ponorogo. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to describe in depth the process of planning, implementing, and evaluating Qur'an learning. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with caregivers and ustadzah, and documentation of learning activities, with subjects consisting of 50 active students and teaching staff. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, with triangulation as a data validity technique. The results of the study showed that the application of the Hubbul Ilmii method significantly improved the ability to read the Qur'an within 36 meetings. Before learning, 68% of students were in the category of "not yet able to read" and only 10% were "reading fluently and tajweed", while after learning the category of "not being able to read" dropped to 6% and "reading fluently and tajweed" increased to 82%. The learning approach that combines play, coloring, memorization, and personal mentoring creates a fun, interactive, and appropriate learning environment for early childhood characteristics. In conclusion, the Hubbul Ilmii method has proven to be effective in improving Qur'an literacy through structured, visual-kinesthetic, and contextual learning, so that it can be used as an alternative model of Qur'an learning for Islamic educational institutions in rural areas with limited facilities and has the potential to be developed widely through teacher training and simple technology adaptation.
