Abstract

The problem of the study was “Is it significant ly effect ive after the application of Summarizing Training Camp Technique on teaching reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau in the academic year of 2015/2016?”. The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there is significantly effective on reading comprehension after the application of Summarizing Training Camp Technique to the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau. In this study, the writer proposed two hypotheses. They were null hypothesis (Ho) and alternative hypothesis (Ha). The method applied was pre-experimental with one group pre-test posttest design. The population of this study was all of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau which consisted of 245 students. The sample was taken through convenience random sampling which consisted of 40 students. The data were collected by means of test consisting 25 items of multiple choices. The data obtained were analyzed through three techniques: 1) Individual Score, 2) Conversion of Individual Score Based on Minimum Mastery Criteria, and 3) Matched t-test. The results of this study shows that the students’ mean score in the pre-test was 66.9 and those in the post-test was 76. The result of matched t test was 6.89, which was higher than t-table value (1.684) of 39 with 95% significant level for one tailed-test. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that it was significantly effective to use Summarizing Training Camp Technique in teaching reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau in the academic year of 2015/2016.

Abstract

ABSTRACT English for Specific Purposes (ESP) has been learned and become required course for nursing students. The students’ necessity of English is essential for those learners who would like to reach the best achievement and get ready for use in the job area. The objective of this research was to determine nursing students’ perception in regard with the necessity for ESP materials at Politeknik Kesehatan Palembang Nursing Study Prorgam Lubuklinggau. The research method was conducted in quantitative survey. The participants of the research were 34 students. The data used of this research were questionnaire items and students’ responses. The data were analyzed by using SPSS version 20.0. The results of the research showed that there are 8 assignments necessity in listening skills, 11 assignments necessity in speaking skills, 7 assignments necessity in writing skills, and 6 assignments necessity in reading skills. The finding of research can be concluded that both listening and speaking skills are influential necessity for nursing students. Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perencanaan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi, dan hambatan-hambatan dalam pembinaan peserta didik serta upaya mengatasi hambatan dalam pelaksanaan pembinaan peserta didik di SMP Negeri Muara Batang Empu. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis data kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1). Perencanaan pembinaan peserta didik di SMP Negeri Muara Batang Empu dilakukan setiap awal tahun pelajaran baru yaitu dengan mengadakan rapat perencanaan kegiatan pembinaan peserta didik yang menghasilkan program kerja pembinaan peserta didik di sekolah yang meliputi kegiatan OSIS, kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, dan layanan BK 2). Evaluasi pembinaan peserta didik di SMP Negeri Muara Batang Empu yaitu menilai proses pelaksanaan kegiatan pembinaan peserta didik di sekolah dan menilai hasil kegiatan pembinaan peserta didik di sekolah yang di lakukan oleh kepala sekolah setiap akhir tahun pelajaran 3). Hambatan dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pembinaan peserta didik di SMP Negeri Muara Batang Empu meliputi kurangnya personil, kurangnya fasilitas, serta kurangnya perhatian dari peserta didik. Upaya untuk mengatasinya dengan mengoptimalkan personil yang ada di sekolah, mengoptimalkan fasilitas yang ada di sekolah, dan adanya pengarahan dari koordinator, dan guru dalam mengatasi peserta didik yang kurang perhatian.

Abstract

Note-taking strategies are essential for students to understand the meaning of the conversations or audio files they hear. Therefore, the researchers conducted this study to find out how students perceive the use of note-taking strategies in listening process. This study was based on qualitative research. 24 students from an English Education department were selected to participate in this study. This study used questionnaires as a data collection technique. After data collection, the researchers conducted a descriptive analysis of the data following the process of reading or remembering, describing, and classifying. The results of this study indicate that students have a good awareness of using note-taking strategies in listening classroom. The students used note-taking strategies while listening to understand and remember each point of the information that was hear. It acts as a tool for developing working memory, focusing attention, and identifying important ideas within the information presented. The act of writing down information strengthens memory and helps students recall key details later. Students were focused on main points, paraphrase some ideas in their own words, and use symbols/color-coding to highlight important information in listening subject. Furthermore, using note-taking strategies in listening comprehension has many benefits, such as helping students retain information better, grasp key points, paraphrasing information, organizing notes with headings and lists, review previously learned material, and can improve students’ motivation, and increase students’ listening comprehension. As it is known that note taking can be a good strategy in learning due to its function and advantages in listening classroom.

Abstract

Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah merupakan faktor kunci dalam menentukan keberhasilan penyelenggaraan pendidikan di sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah yang kuat, terstruktur, dan visioner terhadap peningkatan prestasi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah dengan gaya kepemimpinan yang kuat mampu menciptakan lingkungan yang disiplin dan stabil melalui ketegasan dalam pengambilan keputusan, efisiensi pengelolaan sumber daya, serta penerapan disiplin yang adil. Gaya kepemimpinan terstruktur tercermin dari perencanaan program kerja yang sistematis, pengelolaan kurikulum yang terarah, dan evaluasi berkala, yang semuanya berkontribusi pada efektivitas pembelajaran. Sementara itu, kepemimpinan visioner terlihat dari kemampuan merumuskan visi-misi jangka panjang yang inspiratif, mendorong inovasi, serta menggerakkan seluruh warga sekolah untuk mencapai tujuan bersama. Ketiga gaya kepemimpinan tersebut secara sinergis menciptakan iklim sekolah yang kondusif, terorganisir, dan penuh motivasi, yang berdampak langsung pada peningkatan prestasi siswa secara akademik maupun non-akademik. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan kapasitas kepemimpinan kepala sekolah sebagai strategi utama dalam peningkatan mutu pendidikan.
