Abstract

This research aims to describe the character traits in the novel Lentera Senja by Alfia Ramadhani. This study is categorized as library research using a descriptive qualitative method. The primary data source is the novel Lentera Senja, second edition, published in 2023 by Loveable Publisher in Jakarta, with a total of 280 pages. The research focuses on analyzing the characters’ traits through reading and note-taking techniques. The data were analyzed using an objective approach, describing the findings systematically and accurately based on the textual evidence. The term "descriptive" refers to the process of portraying the data as it is, while "qualitative" indicates the interpretation of interrelated conceptual understandings, delivered verbally and supported by relevant theories. The study highlights several key characters and their traits: Zayyan (responsibility, care, trustworthiness, respect, citizenship awareness, and fairness), Athar (care, fairness, responsibility, and trustworthiness), Khanza (care), Syafiya (care, responsibility, and respect), Zana (care), Haura (responsibility and fairness), Farzan (care), and Rizal (responsibility, care, and trustworthiness).

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the meanings contained in the novel Aku Tak Membenci Hujan by Sri Puji Hartini using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. One of the benefits of this research is to serve as a reference for future studies, particularly those concerning the application of Barthes' five codes in literary texts. This is a library research supported by primary data from the novel Aku Tak Membenci Hujan and secondary data from relevant literature. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data source of this research is the novel Aku Tak Membenci Hujan by Sri Puji Hartini, published by Akad X Skuad in 2023, consisting of 348 pages. The data are in the form of written excerpts from the novel that contain elements of Barthes semiotic codes. The data were collected using reading and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was carried out using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach through five codes: hermeneutic, proairetic, semic, symbolic, and cultural codes.he results show that these five semiotic codes create a complex web of meaning in the novel's narrative, including mysteries within the story, sequences of actions, character representations, life symbols, and embedded cultural values. Through Barthes' semiotic perspective, readers are invited to uncover the latent meanings hidden beneath the surface of the text.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the personality of the main character in Amin Maalouf's novel The 100th Name of God. This study uses the library research method and is a descriptive qualitative study. The data used in this study is written data in the form of words and sentences related to the personality aspects of the main character in Amin Maalouf's novel The 100th Name of God, published in 2021. This study shows that the personality aspects possessed by the main character based on Jung's theory are 1) consciousness (unconsciousness), 2) personal unconscious, 3) collective unconscious, and 4) personality type, which is a combination of attitudes and functions that operate in the conscious and unconscious, namely introversion-sensing and introversion-feeling. This study concludes that there are five (5) personality aspects possessed by the main character in Amin Maalouf's novel The Hundredth Name. The five (5) personality aspects are 1) consciousness (consciousness), 2) personal unconsciousness (personal unconscious), 3) collective unconsciousness (collective unconscious) operating in the shadow, and 4) personality types operating in sensation-intuition and feeling-intuition.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of social issues represented in the poetry anthology Suara dari Kelas Kecil. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a sociology of literature approach. The data consist of words, phrases, and poetic lines found in ten selected poems that reflect social realities and social criticism. Data were collected through library research and close reading techniques, then analyzed by classifying and interpreting the identified social issues based on their thematic relevance. The findings indicate that the poems in Suara dari Kelas Kecil portray various social issues that reflect contemporary societal conditions. These issues include poverty, crime, social conflict, violations of social norms, discrimination, and corruption. Poverty is depicted through the portrayal of marginalized groups struggling to meet basic needs, while crime and corruption are presented as structural problems resulting from weak moral values and ineffective governance. Social conflict and norm violations emerge from injustice and power imbalance, whereas discrimination reflects unequal treatment toward certain social groups. This study concludes that the poems in Suara dari Kelas Kecil function not only as aesthetic literary expressions but also as a medium of social criticism that voices the concerns of marginalized communities. Through a sociology of literature perspective, the anthology demonstrates that poetry plays a significant role in reflecting social realities and fostering critical awareness among readers regarding ongoing social problems.

Abstract

One of the learning materials for 11th-grade high school students is writing poetry based on short stories. The characteristics of this material direct students to read short stories first to gain inspiration so that they can write poetry well. However, the learning process for this material seems less attractive to students due to the limitations of the learning media used by teachers. One digital medium that can stimulate students' imagination and creativity is the Wattpad application. This study explores the use of Wattpad media to improve the effectiveness of poetry writing learning. The research design used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research instruments included: (1) student activity observation format, (2) learning outcomes test in the form of pretest and posttest, and (3) student response questionnaire to Wattpad media. There were 24 students who participated in this study. The results showed that student activity reached an average of 4.67 (very effective), and learning outcomes based on N-Gain analysis reached 0.76 (effective). Student responses to Wattpad media reached an average of 4.42 (very effective). This study concludes that the use of Wattpad media can improve the effectiveness of poetry writing learning. The implication is that the use of Wattpad can stimulate creativity and student engagement, leading to better learning outcomes. Indonesian language teachers can utilize Wattpad media for relevant learning materials.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola keberlangsungan tradisi maataa (pesta adat atau kande-kandea) dalam masyarakat Ciacia Laporo. Tradisi maataa merupakan salah satu tradisi masyarakat Ciacia Laporo yang kaya akan nilai-nilai budaya dan sejarah masyarakatnya. Tradisi maataa memiliki nilai yang dapat mempersatukan masyarakat pendukungnya. Nilai itu berupa nilai religius dan nilai sosial, bahkan secara filosofis tradisi maataa merupakan perwujudan dari siklus kehidupan terutama yang berhubungan dengan kelahiran dan perkawinan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi dengan pendekatan kualitatif untuk memahami bagaimana pola keberlangsungan tradisi maataa dalam masyarakat Ciacia Laporo. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah tokoh adat, instansi terkait, praktisi, seniman lokal, dan budayawan yang mengerti tentang tradisi maataa. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara, studi kepustakaan, dan studi dokumen. Teknik analisis data yaitu dilakukan secara tematik dengan triangulasi sumber dan metode untuk menjaga validitas data reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi maataa memiliki tiga pola keberlangsungan yaitu keberlangsungan dalam pertunjukan, keberlangsungan secara langsung, dan keberlangsungan dalam keluarga. Ketiga pola keberlangsungan tradisi maataa dalam masyarakat Ciacia Laporo ini saling berhubungan dan saling menunjang antara satu dengan yang lain dalam menjamin kebertahanan tradisi maataa.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: 1) mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo dalam menulis teks prosedur; (2) mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis teks prosedur dari segi isi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo; 3) mendeskripsikan aspek struktur penulisan teks prosedur siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo; 4) berbicara tentang kemampuan menulis teks prosedur siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo tentang kaidah menulis; 5) mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis teks prosedur tentang aspek ciri kebahasaan siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang menggunakan bilangan untuk mengukur kemampuan siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo dalam menulis teks prosedur. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo tahun ajaran 2022/23. Ada 43 siswa di masing-masing dua kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo sebagai sampel. Tes tertulis digunakan sebagai instrumen penelitian. Informasi pemeriksaan diselidiki dengan jelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Kabawo mampu memilih kata dengan persentase kemampuan 34,88 persen, melengkapi struktur dengan persentase kemampuan 9,30 persen, kaidah penulisan kata dengan persentase kemampuan 32,56 persen, penggunaan kalimat dengan persentase kemampuan 32,56 persen, dan penggunaan tanda baca dengan persentase 23,26%.

Abstract

This research aims to describe students' abilities in writing reviews of works of fiction for class VIII SMP Negeri 10 Kendari. The method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique used Proportional Stratified Random Sampling, namely 92 students consisting of five classes. To obtain data about the ability to write reviews of works of fiction, the instrument used in this research is needed, namely a written test. Individually, there were 23 students (25%) who were in the capable category and 69 students (75%) were in the unable category to write reviews of works of fiction. What can be concluded classically is that class VIII students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari are in the category of not being able to write reviews of works of fiction. It is said that they are not yet capable because individually students have not reached the Learning Completeness Criteria (KKTP) of 66% (25%) and have reached the classical completeness criteria of 85%. Judging from the level of student ability in each aspect of the assessment, namely the identity of the short story (100%), the character of the story (98.91%), the nature of the character (68.47%), the setting of the place (53.26%), the setting of the time (91.30%), background atmosphere (35.86%), theme (68.47%), storyline (%), student opinions (%), reviewer assessment (5.43%), words that contain connotative meanings and denotation (3.26%). Of the total aspects assessed, eight aspects were included in the deficient category because classically the percentage did not reach the Classical Achievement Criteria of 85%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk campur kode dan faktor yang memengaruhi terjadinya campur kode dalam peristiwa jual beli di Pasar Wakumoro, Kecamatan Parigi, Kabupaten Muna. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa tuturan lisan penjual dan pembeli yang muncul dalam transaksi jual beli di pasar. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik simak, rekam, wawancara, dan catat, kemudian dianalisis melalui tahap transkripsi, identifikasi unsur campur kode, klasifikasi bentuk kebahasaan, penafsiran konteks tutur, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campur kode muncul dalam bentuk penyisipan kata, penyisipan frasa, penyisipan klausa, dan perulangan kata. Campur kode yang ditemukan melibatkan bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Muna, bahasa Bugis, dan bahasa Jawa. Faktor yang memengaruhi terjadinya campur kode meliputi identifikasi peranan, identifikasi ragam, serta keinginan penutur untuk menjelaskan, menafsirkan, menegosiasikan makna, dan membangun keakraban sosial dengan lawan tutur. Temuan ini memperlihatkan bahwa campur kode dalam transaksi pasar tidak hanya merupakan gejala kebahasaan, tetapi juga strategi komunikasi yang berfungsi memperjelas harga, memperkuat solidaritas, dan memperlancar proses tawar-menawar.

Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of modern society. Behind its benefits, social media also presents various problems, including cyberbullying and body shaming. Both of these phenomena can have a negative impact on victims, both physically and mentally. This journal aims to examine Islamic ethics in social media, focusing on the phenomenon of cyberbullying and body shaming. The study is conducted by analyzing the verses of the Qur'an and Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad SAW that are relevant to the ethics of communication and social interaction. The results show that Islam has clear ethical principles related to the use of social media. These principles emphasize noble morals, mutual respect, and maintaining privacy. Cyberbullying and body shaming are clearly against Islamic ethics because they hurt and degrade others. This journal also provides recommendations to prevent cyberbullying and body shaming on social media, such as increasing education about Islamic ethics, encouraging a culture of mutual respect, and strengthening regulations related to cyberbullying and body shaming.
