Abstract

This study is intended to estimate the vulnerability of degradation of mangrove forest in Muara Village, Tangerang, Banten. There are five species of mangroves found in mangrove forest of Muara, which are: Avicennia alba, Avicennia officinnalis. Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa, and Rhizophora mucronata. The results showed that the mangrove forest in Muara has a high vulnerability of degradation based on the three vegetation characteristics, such as: density, domination, and biodiversity of mangrove species. The density of mangrove vegetation has only reached 739 individual/Ha. While the biodiversity of mangrove species is low and the domination level of mangrove species is high, in which the dominant species is Rhizophora mucronata. Mangrove rehabilitation activities are required by revegetation methods, and the mangrove species that are used in revegetation process are local species which available in the mangrove forest of Muara. Mangrove rehabilitation process that needs to be done is by revegetation of mangroves and mangrove species conservation. Mangrove species which is suitable for mangrove rehabilitation in Muara Village are Rhizophora mucronata and Avecinnea alba. Keywords: mangrove, forest, degradation, rehabilitation

Abstract

Sand is an important commodity for constructions. The largest sand mining in Tasikmalaya District is located in Sukaratu Sub District. This mining activites have a negative impact for the environment such as causing erosion and water pollution. This study was aimed to assess the impact of sand mining on the land and water conditions. The analysis method that was used in this study is the analysis of erotion rate using Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) formula and the analysis of Total Suspended Solid (TSS) parameters. The results showed that the rate of erosion ranged from 163.49 to 1,194.16 ton/ha/year, with erosion hazard rate (TBE) were very heavy. The TSS value of Cibanjaran and Cikunir river water ranged from 26 to 186 mg/liter, this values were below the threshold but the effect is not good for the fishery. Keywords: erosion rate, sand mining, Total Suspended Solid (TSS) doi: 10.19081/jpsl.5.2.99

Abstract

One of the mechanisms for encouraging local governments to achieve national priority targets for environmental sector is through allocating the deconcentration budget of environment for the provincial. According to Government Regulation No. 7/2008, the deconcentration budget allocation for the region should be in accordance with finance minister recommendation indicators and environmental indicators. However, the allocation of deconcentration budget of environment is not yet consider those indicators. So that, the allocation of deconcentration budget has been constantly increasing, on the other hand the quality of environment has been decreasing. Therefore, the aims of this research are to analyze the factors that influence the allocation of deconcentration budget of environment in province and to analyze the effectiveness of deconcentration budget in order to improve environmental quality in Indonesia. This study uses panel data, with cross section data of 32 provinces in the period of 2009 to 2013. The research methods are descriptive analysis and analysis of panel data. The results indicated that indicators of fiscal capacity, numbers of industry, sizes of land cover, and numbers of complaints on environmental case have a significant effect on the allocation of deconcentration budget. Results also showed that deconcentration budget has influenced the environmental quality improvement.

Abstract

Lampung is province in Indonesia which is trying to generate income through tourism sectors. One of them is Wira Garden Nature Park (TWA). Wira Garden is located in Bandar Lampung. Activities from  tourist increasly effects increase garbage that impact on aesthetics and environmental quality in Wira Garden. So that, takes antourism program based on environmental education. That is able to educate visitors so visitors will participated in activities that aim to promote concern in environment, especially nature tourism. Focus of planning an tourism program based on environmental education is creating environmental education packages, by two activities are planting trees and deposit garbage (deposit refund). Manager of Wira Garden collaborate with BSCH (Bank Sampah Cangkir Hijau) to build garbage deposit program (deposit refund). Environmental education programs in Wira Garden is realized into three types options that are (Personal Green), (Garden Family) and (Jungle Community). Funding for this  program is expected from income of (WTP) Willingness to Pay from visitors in Wira Garden.

Abstract

The protection of Karakelang wildlife sanctuary has been challenged by forest encroachment, timber harvesting and wildlife poaching - all of which are attributed to social economic condition of the communities living in the vicinity. A community based conservation program was delivered to strengthen communities’ role in maintaining forest integrity while making good income from sustainable agriculture. This action research using mixed methodology evaluates the influence of program delivery in changing the knowledge, attitude and practice of forest protection and sustainable agriculture among beneficiaries in three villages. Data was collected using structured interview, while other supporting information was taken from project reports and field notes. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test reveals that program has influence in changing the knowledge of respondents in both forest protection and sustainable agriculture, as well as in the change of attitude and practice regarding sustainable agriculture. However, it does not have influence in changing their attitude and practice toward forest protection. As shwon by economic indicator, program has contributed in providing new source of income to farmers household. The result of logistic regression shows that age, education, land ownership and income has influence in the change of people’s knowledge about forest biodiversity. Only age has influence in change of attitude towards sustainable agriculture, and only land ownership has influence on support to forest protection.

Abstract

Abstract. Public Street Light (PSL) with Solar Cell Power has good prospects to be developed in the equator. PSL design must provide reliable service. The aims of this research are to know how the design of PSL with Solar Cell Power can provide a reliable service of The PSL. Besides that, monitoring of the performance of PSL is expected to be carried out centrally, this is to facilitate employees in observing the performance of the lights, also to anticipate damage PSL components. The design of PSL are expected to meet these expectations. This PSL designed can provide data on the performance of the main components of the PSL with Solar Cell Power, namely: Solar Cell, Batteries and LEDs. Economic analysis is taken into account of the design of this PSL. Net Present Value (NPV) are used in analyzing the Smart Design of PSL, which is by adding up all cash flow and investment costs.

Abstract

Bauxite ore open-pit mining activities are conducted in spread areas and increase the potential for water pollution, implying a need for good management. GeoWEPP is a spatial model that predicts the erosion magnitude and the location of sedimentation. This helps in erosion management and control, including constructing a settling pond. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine GeoWEPP based on land use, topographic and soil maps, as well as rainfall and temperature data. The results showed that 30 hills with a total area of 13 602.48 Ha obtained sediment of 150 186 m3/month and the amount of run off of 4 202 267 m3/month. Furthermore, GeoWEPP analysis on the planned mining block area obtained 30 outlet points to be used as the location for the settling pond construction. The optimistic and pessimistic cost of constructing the entire settling pond is Rp. 222 047 640 944 and Rp. 222 773 049 768, respectively. Additionally, the cost of settling pond maintenance at all outlet points during operation is Rp. 3 139 414 818. Planting cover crops in ex-mining areas is very effective in reducing erosion.
