Abstract

Ecotourism in Mount Rinjani National Park (MRNP) faces various environmental problems that lead to conflicts. Therefore, an analysis of sustainability status of MRNP ecotourism management is carried out. The method for evaluating the sustainability status of MRNP ecotourism management is MDS (multi-dimensional scaling) with Rap-fish or Rapid Appraisal Index modified to Rap-ecotourism. The index value to determine the sustainability status is obtained from scoring value of dimensions’ attributes studied. Then, a leverage analysis is performed to observe the leverage's attributes and fall into the sensitive category as a driver for determining the sustainability of a dimension. These attributes need to be intervened by developing policies so that the index value goes into a sustainable level. The results show that the economic dimension (58.49%) is in quite sustainable level, while the ecological dimension (35.94%), social dimension (45.81%), ecotourism service dimension (39.58%), and technology and infrastructure dimension (35.29%) are in less sustainable stage. While institutional and policy dimension (23.76%) is in not sustainable status. On institutional and policy dimensions, the main lever attributes are (1) local institutions (5.53%), (2) partnerships and collaborations (5.53%), and (3) MRNP ecotourism management and control regulations (5.36%).

Abstract

EnglishDairy farming system in Bogor Regency deals with threatening problems. This research aims to assess and to analyze sustainability of dairy farming system of smallholding farms in Bogor Regency. The respondents consisted of dairy farm area (Kunak) and smallholding farms in Cisarua District. Approach used in this study was a rapid appraisal for dairy farm system (Rap-Sibusape) using a multidimensional scaling (MDS) method. Results showed that smallholders in Cisarua and Kunak had index values of system dairy farms sustainability of 51.25 and 54.12, respectively. It indicated that the two areas are quite sustainable. Analysis five sustainable dimensions (ecology, economy, socio-culture, infrastructure technology, and institutional law) showed that ecology was sustainable on Kunak, and economy and socio-culture were not sustainable on both Kunak and dairy farm in Cisarua. Leverage analysis results showed that there were 15 out of 45 attributes influencing the sustainability index system. There were six key factors strongly influenced the system with low dependence among factors, i.e. (i) milk prices, (ii) feed carrying capacity, (iii) development cooperation, (iv) input subsidies, (v) micro finance, and (vi) socialization work. Improving dairy cattle farming in Bogor Regency requires sustainability index value enhancement of 15 sensitive attributes focused on 6 key factors affecting the dairy cattle farming system.IndonesianPeternakan sapi perah di Kabupaten Bogor menghadapi permasalahan yang mengancam keberlanjutan sistem, seperti (i) keterbatasan pakan hijauan, (ii) penurunan jumlah peternak, (iii) rendahnya mutu susu, (iv) penyakit ternak, dan (v) terbatasnya sarana-prasarana agribisnis. Abstract

Beef cattle development based on regional planning approach is one of efforts to increase the role of beef cattle in Central Java Province, by synergizing between its commodity and the region potency. This study aims to analyze the role of beef cattle in the economy of Central Java and its potential development based on regional planning. The analysis instrument used to answer the aim of this research is descriptive analysis, LQ (Location Quotient), KPPTR (Ruminant Population Increased Capacity) and schallogram analysis. The results showed that the role of beef cattle in Central Java Province make a positive contribution to fulfill the demand for beef, but the beef cattle contribution for GDRP and labor is still relatively small. Central Java has considerable potency for the development of beef cattle since it is even now able to increase the ruminant population amounting 5.232.130 AU (Animal Unit) based on TDN (Total Digestible Nutrient), which scattered in 17 districts of the 21 districts designated as the development regions of beef cattle. The base region of beef cattle in Central Java Province located in 7 (seven) districts, but based on the results of the physical assessment of services capacity of these regions considered remain relatively low and middling. The strategy to increase the role of beef cattle in the economy of Central Java is by classifying the regions into 4 groups: namely based on the source of forage, the region base of beef cattle, and the level of service capacity of beef cattle development.

Abstract

Organic farming was an agricultural farming techniques that rely on natural in without using of synthetic chemicals and organic agricultural farming was have provided health agricultural products, especially food that was safed for the health and consumers does not damage the environment. Based conventional farming systems such as the high energy input of chemical fertilizers and pesticides can damage and lower productivity of the soil. Soil degradation and environment damage destruction is the massive impact of the green revolution program in the 1980s. A combination of Internal factors (IFE) and external (EFE) matrix produces IE (Internal-External). SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats) of the organic farming water spinach in Bogor regency. Learning the best strategies in the analysis with Matrix QSP (Quantitative Strategic Planning). Based on the analysis of the activity of farming and the analysis of income from 500 m2 in 1 year only farmers have sold water spinach in market organic until 1,728 kg price of products 6.000 IDR and 2,472 kg had sold in traditional market at a price of 2.500 IDR. However, this shows that the farming of organic water spinach has financially profitable enough and will be more profitable when the entire water spinachcan hade been sold to the organic market. The results of the analysis of strategies using IE Matrix, SWOT Matrix and QPS Matrix acquired three most important strategies to be implemented: 1) "Strengthen and improve farm management institutions" (TAS value = 6.87); 2) Developing of human resources in the post-harvest handling (TAS value = 5.85); and 3) Extend the market network (TAS value = 5.63).

Abstract

Surra is a disease attacking livestock caused by a flagellated protozoan, Trypanosoma evansi. Indonesia archipelago is reported as an endemic country of the disease, except Sumba Island.  However, Surra outbreak occurred in this Island in 2010 due to livestock movement from the neighbour island, Sumbawa. It generated high mortality in livestock, particularly in horses and buffaloes. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Surra treatment strategies in East Sumba District from 2010-2016 and to estimate the incidence of Surra in the next few months (forecast). The treatment strategy of Surra in East Sumba was divided into 2 (two) periods e.g. the first period in 2010-2011 using Isomethamedium as the single drug (period I) and the second period in 2012 - 2016 using a combination between diminazene aceturate as curative and isomethamedium as a prophylactic drug (period II). All data in the present study was obtained from the local livestock agency of East Sumba District from 2010 – 2016 when Surra outbreak occurred. The effectiveness of those two treatment strategies was compared using the proportion test. The results demonstrated that morbidity and mortality of horses and buffaloes were significantly greater in the period I (2010-2011) compared to period II (2012-2016). The treatment strategy in the period II was able to decrease the proportion of morbidity in horses and buffaloes for 1.44% and 0.66%, respectively.  Likewise, the proportion of mortality in period II was also less than the period I from 3.79% to 1.30% for horses and from 2.80% to 0.55% for buffaloes. Based on forecasting study analysis using the control program projected with decomposition method for the next 12 months demonstrated that the treatment strategy in the period II could reduce the incidence and death of livestock by Surra. The treatment strategy using a combination between isometamedium and diminazene aceturate in East Sumba District might be more effective compared to using isometamedium alone.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the structural relationship between travel constraints and destination image on tourist loyalty. This was conducted in July-August 2019 in Tenjolaya Subdistrict and Pamijahan Subdistrict. The analysis using the PLS SEM method gives the result that the X3 construct (travel constraint) has a significant negative effect (-0.443) in influencing the X8 construct (visitor loyalty) as reflected in the interest in returning visits. This negative value is greater than the structural effect of the X4 construct (sense of place) which is only 0.390. It can be concluded that the destination that only relies on natural conditions has no significant effect on tourists' interest in making return visits if they have traveling constrain to the site. Abstract

The research objectives were to analyze reproduction performance and productivity of swamp buffalofrom different altitudes in Cianjur and draw up a hierarchy of productivity strategy development usinganalysis of SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threats) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)with four criteria: technology, costs, impact, and the response of farmers. Survey was conducted in Cianjurduring January-March 2014 by interview prepared questionnaires and direct observation of 63 buffalo farmers. Secondary data were also obtained from relevant agencies. Primary data were collected usingdirect observation of 139 reproductive female buffaloes then were further analyzed. A total of 58 buffaloesat their productive period were sampled and taken their morphometric data. Whilst 37 buffaloes weremeasured their frame size using Body Condition Score (BCS). The results showed that the reproductionperformance of buffaloes in the lowlands are not significantly different from those in the highland. The ageat first oestrus, first mating, first calving, gestation period were 25.6 months, 26.6 months, 38.7 months,11.8 months, respectively.. The oestrus period was 5.3 days, and post-partum mating interval was 54.6days. Differences in altitude and sex significantly affected (P <0.05) the morphometry assessment. Thebody weight of male buffaloes were found lower than the females both in highlands and lowlands (P<0.05).The body conditioning score of buffalo performance at highland was better compared to those in thelowland. Based on the SWOT analysis and AHP: (1) The main strategy is to improve the technology basedon the criteria of internal weakness by increasing scale holdings to seize opportunities buffalo meat selfsufficiency;(2) based on the criteria of cost and impact, the strategy was to cover threats over the professionout of the region by empowering farmers (facilitate increased productivity buffalo); (3) based on the responsecriteria, the primary strategy is to improve the quality of education of farmers by facilitating productivityimprovement opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency buffalo meat. The main development strategy basedon the four criteria: technology, cost, impact, and farmer response were increasing of buffalo ownershipscale, production facilities, and farmers education quality.
