Abstract

The #MarriageIsScary phenomenon, widely discussed on social media, reflects Generation Z's fears and doubts about the institution of marriage. This study aims to reinterpret the meaning of marriage through a deconstructive approach based on Jacques Derrida’s social deconstruction theory, focusing on Gen-Z’s perceptions. Data were collected through documentation of netizens' comments in the form of screenshots responding to the trend on various social media platforms. Thematic analysis was conducted by categorizing data into initial codes, main themes, and sub-themes, visualized in a Sankey diagram. The results indicate that marriage is no longer perceived as the pinnacle of happiness but rather as a space filled with pressure, uncertainty, and burdensome social expectations. This study is further supported by literature reviews discussing Derrida’s social deconstruction theory and shifts in marital values in the context of digital society. The research concludes that Gen-Z’s fear of marriage represents resistance to the dominant normative narratives and idealization of marriage.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a hypothetical learning model to strengthen the implementation of deep learning approaches in senior high schools (SMA). The research employs a qualitative methodology utilizing a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). In the Define stage, a needs analysis was conducted to identify problems and instructional requirements in sociology education. This was achieved through in-depth interviews with sociology teachers, driving teachers, school principals, and an extensive literature review. The findings informed the foundational concepts and specific needs for a deep learning- focused instructional framework. The Design stage involved developing the ISMAIL learning Model, which stands for Inovatif (Innovative), Sistematis (Systematic), Mandiri (Independent), Aktif (Active), Interaktif (Interactive), and Lestari (Sustainable). The design was guided by educational theories emphasizing critical thinking, active engagement, and sustainable learning practices. In the Develop stage, the model underwent iterative testing in controlled educational settings to refine its application and effectiveness. Feedback from educators and students was used to optimize the model for fostering deeper cognitive engagement and comprehensive skill development. Finally, the Disseminate stage focused on sharing the refined ISMAIL learning Model through academic publications, workshops, and seminars to promote its adoption and adaptability in diverse educational contexts. This methodological framework demonstrates the model’s capacity to support the integration of deep learning principles in sociology education, aiming to enhance students’ understanding, foster active participation, and develop critical social competencies. Future research is necessary to validate the model’s effectiveness and explore its potential across varied educational settings.

Abstract

The increase in Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV) has become a pressing issue, with cases rising annually. This trend has sparked widespread public discussions, particularly about contemporary gender perceptions in the digital realm. This study investigates these perceptions using social media platform Instagram, Twitter (X), and TikTok as case studies. Using a qualitative approach with Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the research explores the text, discourse practices, and sociocultural dynamics in the responses to OGBV. Data was collected from comments on three speciMic OGBV cases, receiving between 100 and 1,000 responses across the platforms. The Mindings reveal that social media serves a dual purpose: it acts as a platform for solidarity and advocacy, enabling digital communities to support victims and raise awareness about women's rights and empowerment. However, it also perpetuates victim-blaming and reinforces traditional gender stereotypes, thereby upholding patriarchal structures. This reMlects a contradictory role that social media plays in shaping public views on gender and violence. While digital spaces provide opportunities for empowerment and social change, they also mirror and amplify regressive societal attitudes, presenting challenges to efforts aimed at achieving gender equality. The study highlights the complex interplay between progressive and regressive attitudes in the digital community’s reactions to gender violence. It emphasizes the need to address the contradictory nature of social media's inMluence on public perceptions of OGBV. By offering critical insights into the sociocultural tensions at play, the research helps us understand the role of digital platforms in shaping gender discourse in the digital age.

Abstract

Perelek is one of the residents' efforts to show their existence by preserving this culture in social life in society. The method used is Literature Study; in collecting research data, the authors collect and analyze various sources through journals, books, and previous research, which are still related to the topic of discussion in this journal article. The results of this study indicate that the Kuta Indigenous Village Community still preserves the Beas Perelek by collecting one spoon of rice per day from each resident, who is collectively by the wife of the head of the local RT. This "perelek" also represents the generous side of every individual in that environment. On the other hand, this "perelek" shows the side of togetherness and solidarity among the people. The main goal with the existence of Perelek is to increase community participation in social responsibility and concern that needs to be included amid today's developments. Therefore, the existence and resilience of the perelek culture that still exists in the Kuta Traditional Village is a particular form of inter-community concern. The principles held by the local community have enabled this "perelek" culture to survive even amid the development of the globalization era.
