Abstract

Seagrass ecosystems services in the coastal waters are included as primary producers, nutrient recycler, bottom stabilizers, sediment traps, and erosion barriers. Gleaning fisheries in seagrass bed in Mokupa waters could cause damage on seagrass, that can be marked by changes in seagrass cover. The purposes of this study were to identify the types of seagrasses and to determine the health condition of seagrass bed ecosystem in Mokupa waters. The research method used in this study is quadrat transect method. Data collection was carried out by laid three transects (100 m) with distance between each transect was 50 m. A square frame (50×50 cm2) which is divided into 4 squares is placed on the right side of the transect, with 10 m distance between frame. This study found four types of seagrasses, namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Halodule pinifolia and Halophila ovalis. E. acoroides have the highest percentage cover (16.19%) followed byT. hemprichii (6.91%), H. pinifolia (4.50%) and H. ovalis (1.56%) respectively. Seagrass cover in the study area is considered medium (26-50%) while the health condition was poor (29.25%).

Abstract

Mangrove forests play an important role in mitigating the effects of global warming as mangroves can absorbs and stores carbon therefor, mangrove plants including A. marina can act as carbon sinks. The study aim is to estimate the carbon content contained in A. marina pneumatophore biomass. The data was taken b using line transect method. The number of research stations are 3 stations contain 3 plots (10 x 10 m2) for each station. Samples were taken at low tide by established 3 microplots (50 x 50 cm2) in each 10 x10 m2 plots. The results showed that the highest biomass value was found at Station 3 of 0.49 Kg/m2, followed by Station 1 of 0.42 Kg/m2, and the least pneumatophore biomass value was found at Station 2 of 0.41 Kg/m2.  This finding is in line to the potenntial potential carbon content in pneumatophores where Station 3 has C content (0.08 Kg C/m2), dand 0.07 Kg C/m2 for both station 1 and 2 respectively. Abstract

Mangrove forests have a role as an absorber of carbon dioxide (CO2) from air and sea therefore they play an important role in mitigating climate change. The problems that exist today are the decline in the area of mangrove forests due to the conversion of land functions into ponds, and development in coastal areas. Decrease of mangrove forest areas can lead to reduced its ability to absorb and storage carbon dioxide (CO2). The purposes of this study were to analyze litter carbon content of mangrove leaf litter in the mangrove forest of Pontoh Village, Wori District, North Minahasa Regency and estimate the carbon content (C) in mangrove litter per hectare per year. Based on the results of the analysis, the total average percentage of carbon content in mangrove litter in Ponto Village, Wori District, North Minahasa Regency was 29.71% C/day, and from the estimation results, the average carbon content (C) in mangrove litter is 3.68 tons/ha/year. Key Word: mangrove, litter, carbon content ABSTRAK Hutan mangrove memiliki peran sebagai penyerap karbondioksida (CO2) dari udara sehingga berperan penting untuk mitigasi perubahan iklim. Permasalahan yang ada saat ini yaitu berkurangnya luas kawasan hutan mangrove akibat pengalihan fungsi lahan menjadi tambak, dan pembangunan di kawasan pesisir. Apabila berkurangnya kawasan hutan mangrove maka dapat menyebabkan berkurangnya sumber penyerapan dan penyimpanan karbodioksida (CO2). Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis kandungan karbon pada serasah daun mangrove hutan mangrove Desa Lansa, Kecamatan Wori, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara dan mengestimasi Kandungan Karbon (C) pada serasah mangrove per luasan hektar per tahun. Berdasarkan hasil analisis didapatkan total rata-rata persentase kandungan karbon serasah mangrove di Desa Ponto, Kecamatan Wori, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara yakni sebesar 29,71% C/hari, serta dari hasil estimasi didapatkan rata-rata kandungan karbon (C) pada serasah mangrove sebesar 3,68 ton/ha/tahun. Abstract

Mangroves are plants that are able to survive in coastal areas under environmental conditionsthat are influenced by tides and muddy seawater. Mangrove forests have an ecological function, whichis to play a role in efforts to mitigate global warming because mangrove forests absorb and store carbondioxide (CO2) which is carried out through the process of photosynthesis and storing it in biomass stock.There are 2 objectives of this study, namely: (1) to estimate the carbon stored in mangrove vegetationin Likupang District, North Minahasa Regency (2) to find out how much potential carbon stock is storedin mangrove vegetation and absorption of carbon dioxide (CO2) on mangrove stands. The method usedin this study was a sample plot transect line (Dharmawan and Pramudji, 2001). Based on the resultsobtained from the calculation of the biomass and carbon stock stored in mangrove vegetation inLikupang District, North Minahasa Regency, it can be seen that the average value is 452.42 tons/hawith a carbon content or the amount of carbon stored is 212.64 tons C/ ha or equivalent to 780.38 tonsof CO2/ha.Keywords: Mangrove Vegetation, Carbon, North Minahasa ABSTRAKMangrove merupakan tumbuhan yang mampu bertahan hidup di daerah pesisir pantai dengandi bawah kondisi lingkungan yang dipengaruhi oleh pasang surut air laut dan berlumpur. Hutanmangrove memiliki salah satu fungsi ekologis yaitu berperan dalam upaya mitigasi pemanasan globalkarena hutan mangrove sebagai penyerap dan penyimpan karbon dioksida (CO2) yang dilakukanmelalui proses fotosintesis dan menyimpannya dalam stok biomassa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ada 2yaitu: (1) mengestimasi karbon tersimpan pada vegetasi mangrove di Kecamatan Likupang, KabupatenMinahasa Utara, dan (2) mengetahui berapa besar potensi stok karbon tersimpan pada vegetasimangrove dan serapan karbondioksida (CO2) atas tegakan mangrove. Metode yang digunakan dalampenelitian ini adalah garis transek petak contoh (Dharmawan dan Pramudji, 2001). Berdasarkan hasilyang diperoleh dari perhitungan biomassa dan stok karbon yang tersimpan pada vegetasi mangrove diKecamatan Likupang, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara, dapat nilai rata-rata sebesar 452,42 ton/ha dengankandungan karbon atau jumlah karbon tersimpan sebesar 212,64 ton C/ha atau setara 780,38 tonCO2/ha.Kata Kunci: Vegetasi Mangrove, Karbon, Minahasa Utara

Abstract

Seagrasses are flowering plants (angiosperms) that live on a substrate of sand, muddy sand, and sand mixed with coral fragments. Seagrass beds have an important role both for supports the life of various types of marine biota as well as protein source for the coastal community. The purposes of this study were to find out the types of seagrasses and to assess seagrass bed conditions around Lantung village waters. The line transect quadrat method was using for data collection. Four transects were laid perpendicular from the sea to the shoreline. A 50 x 50 cm frame was used to asstimet seagrass percent cover and laid every ten meters along the transect line. This study found 7 species of seagrass namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Syringodium isoetifolium, Halodule pinifolia, Halophila decipiens, and Halophila ovalis. The average value of seagrass percent cover at the location was 66.44% and it was categorized as ‘healthy’. The environmental parameters values were 29.86°C, 29.05‰ and 8.45 for temperature, salinity and pH respectively.Keywords: Lantung, seagrass, health condition, percent coverABSTRAK Lamun adalah tumbuh-tumbuhan berbunga (angiospermae) yang hidup pada substrat pasir, pasir berlumpur, dan pasir bercampur pecahan karang. Padang lamun memiliki peran penting dalam suatu ekosistem perairan dangkal yang menunjang kehidupan beragam jenis biota laut dan lumbung protein bagi masyarakat. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah mengetahui jenis-jenis lamun yang ada di lokasi penelitian dan mengkaji kondisi kesehatan padang lamun dengan teknik pengumpulan data mengunakan metode transek kuadran yang ditarik tegak lurus garis pantai, dengan ukuran frame 50x 50 cm. Hasil penelitian di Perairan Lantung, Kecamatan Wori, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara, Sulawesi Utara ditemukan 7 jenis lamun yaitu Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Syringodium isoetifolium, Halodule pinifolia, Halophila decipiens, dan Halophila ovalis. Nilai rata- rata penutupan lamun pada lokasi penelitian sebesar 66,44% dan di kategorikan sehat. Parameter di Perairan Lantung yaitu suhu, salinitas, pH, dan substrat tergolong baik dengan nilai rata- rata parameter tergolong optimun dan berada pada kisaran baku mutu air laut dan dapat di toleransi lamun dengan nilai suhu 29,86°C, nilai salinitas 29,05‰ dan nilai pH 8,45.Kata kunci: Lantung, lamun, kondisi kesehatan, penutupan

Abstract

Seagrass has roots, rhizomes, stems, and leaves like land plants (grasses) in general. Seagrass ecosystems are complex ecosystems and have important functions and benefits for coastal waters. Study aimed to describe the morphological characteristics of seagrass Thalassia hemprichiiand Enhalus acoroides and to compare the size of seagrass Thalassia hemprichii and Enhalus acoroides that lived in muddy-sand and sand-rubble substrates. Sampling was carried out using the cruising survey method and morphometric measurements using a digital caliper. The average length of the leaves in the muddy sand substrate was 9.1 cm and 9.3 cm in the crushed coral sand substrate.Independent T-test for Thalassia hemprichii and Enhalus acoroides showed no significant difference in their morphometrics, except for the length of the rhizome which showed a significant difference.Keywords: Seagrass, morphometric, Village WoriABSTRAKLamun memiliki akar, rhizoma, batang, dan daun seperti tumbuhan (rerumputan) darat pada umumnya. Ekosistem padang lamun adalah ekosistem yang kompleks dan mempunyai fungsi serta manfaat penting untuk wilayah perairan pesisir. Rumusan masalah penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana deskripsi karakteristik morfologi lamun Thalassia hemprichii dan Enhalus acoroides dan bagaimana membandingkan rata – rata ukuran lamun Thalassia hemprichii dan Enhalus acoroides. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan karakteristik morfologi lamun Thalassia hemprichii dan Enhalus acoroides dan mengetahui membandingkan rata -rata ukuran lamun Thalassia hemprichii dan Enhalus acoroides. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan metode survey jelajah dan pengukuran morfometrik menggunakan caliper. Hasil rata – rata ukuran panjang daun di substrat pasir berlumpur 9,1 cm dan di substrat pasir pecahan karang 9,3 cm. Uji T independen Thalassia hemprichii tidak menunjukkan ada perbedaan nyata dan Enhalus acoroides tidak menunjukkan ada perbedaan nyata, kecuali terhadap panjang rhizoma yang menunjukkan perbedaan nyata.Kata Kunci: Lamun, Morfometrik, Desa Wori

Abstract

Seagrasses are flowering plants that are fully adapted to being immersed in seawater. Seagrass plants consist of rhizomes, leaves and roots. This study aims to identify the types of seagrasses and determine the structure of seagrass community. This research was conducted in July 2023 around Toseho Village, Oba Subdistrict, Tidore City Kepulaun with coordinate points on transect 1 which is 0°21'20.72 "U, 127°38'58.46 "T. on transect 2 0°21'21.78 "U, 127°38'57.32 "T and on transect 3 which is 0°21'22.86 "U, 127°38'56.14 "T. The method used in this research is quadrant line transect method. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there are 6 types of seagras in Toseho Village, namely Thalassia hemprichii, Enhalus acoroides, Cymodocea rotundata, Halophila ovalis, Halodule univervis and Sryngodium isoetifolium. From the results of data analysis, it was found that Thalassia hemprichii was the most dominating seagrass species in each of the 3 quadrant transects. Seagrass species diversity in Toseho Village has a medium level of species diversity (1 ≤H'≤3 Medium species diversity).Keywords: Seagrass, Community Structure, Toseho Village ABSTRAKLamun merupakan tumbuhan berbunga yang sepenuhnya menyesuaikan diri untuk terbenam dalam air laut. Tumbuhan lamun terdiri dari rhizome, daun dan akar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasih jenis-jenis lamun dan mengetahui struktur komunitas padang lamun. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Juli 2023 di sekitar Desa Toseho Kecamatan Oba Kota Tidore Kepulaun dengan titik kordinat pada transek 1 yaitu 0°21’20.72”U, 127°38’58.46”T. pada transek 2 0°21’21.78”U, 127°38’57.32”T dan pada transek 3 yaitu 0°21’22.86”U, 127°38’56.14”T. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode line transek kuadran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ditemukannya 6 jenis lamun di Desa Toseho yaitu Thalassia hemprichii, Enhalus acoroides, Cymodocea rotundata, Halophila ovalis, Halodule univervis dan Sryngodium isoetifolium. Dari hasil analisi data didapatkan bahwa Thalassia hemprichii merupakan jenis lamun yang paling mendominasi di setiap 3 transek kuadran. Kenekaraman jenis lamun di Desa Toseho memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman jenis sedang (1 ≤H′ ≤ 3 Keanekaragaman spesies sedang).Kata Kunci: Seagrass, Community Structure, Toseho Village

Abstract

Mangrove forests can be used indirectly as a resource in coastal areas. Besides, mangrove forests have dual functions that other ecosystems cannot replace. This research aims to identify types of mangrove communities on the Minanga Dua coast in Pusomaen District, Southeast Minahasa Regency. Field data was collected via line transects. The research found two types of mangroves: Sonneratia alba and Avicennia marina. The Avicennia marina mangrove dominates ecologically in the mangrove community habitat in Minanga Dua Village. The highest Importance Value Index (INP) is owned by the type/species of Avicennia marina in each transect, respectively: transect 1 (300.00%), transect 2 (257.42%), and transect 3 (248.51 %). Meanwhile, for the INP Sonneratia alba type in transect 1 (none), transect 2 (42.58%), and transect 3 (51.49%). The diversity index on transect 2, which has the highest diversity of all transects, shows that the Avicennia marina species is more abundant than the Sonneratia alba species in the mangrove forest community habitat of Minanga Dua Village. Keywords: Important Value Index, Community, Mangrove, Minanga Dua ABSTRAKHutan mangrove secara tidak langsung dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber daya di wilayah pesisir. Selain itu, hutan mangrove mempunyai fungsi ganda yang tidak dapat digantikan oleh ekosistem lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis komunitas mangrove di pesisir Minanga Dua di Kecamatan Pusomaen Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara. Data lapangan dikumpulkan melalui transek garis. Penelitian menemukan dua jenis mangrove: Sonneratia alba dan Avicennia marina. Mangrove Avicennia marina mendominasi secara ekologis pada habitat komunitas mangrove di Desa Minanga Dua. Indeks Nilai Penting (INP) tertinggi dimiliki oleh jenis/spesies Avicennia marina pada masing-masing transek, masing-masing: transek 1 (300,00%), transek 2 (257,42%), dan transek 3 (248,51%). Sedangkan untuk jenis INP Sonneratia alba pada transek 1 (tidak ada), transek 2 (42,58%), dan transek 3 (51,49%). Indeks keanekaragaman pada transek 2 yang mempunyai keanekaragaman tertinggi dari seluruh transek menunjukkan bahwa spesies Avicennia marina lebih melimpah dibandingkan spesies Sonneratia alba pada habitat komunitas hutan mangrove Desa Minanga Dua. Abstract

This research was conducted on the coast of Budo Village, Wori District, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi from March to December 2021. This study was conducted to determine the condition of seagrass beds on the coast of Budo village. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of seagrass and the structure of the seagrass community on the coast of Budo village. The observations found four species of seagrass namely, Enhalus acoroides, Cymodocea rotundata, Thalassia hemprichii, and Syringodium isoetifolium. The status of seagrass beds on the coast of Budo Village is classified as less rich/unhealthy with a closing value of 38.19%. It is known that the highest importance value index of seagrass is in the seagrass species Thalassia hemprichii and the lowest is Syringodium isoetifolium. Thus, the seagrass species Thalassia hemprichii on the coast of Budo village is a type of seagrass that acts as a stabilizer for the seagrass ecosystem in these waters. Keywords: Seagrass, LineTransect, Community Structure, Budo Viilage ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di pantai Desa Budo Kecamatan Wori Kabupaten Minahasa Utara Sulawesi Utara pada bulan Maret sampai Desember 2021. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kondisi padang lamun yang ada di pantai desa Budo. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis lamun dan struktur komunitas lamun di pantai desa Budo. Hasil pengamatan ditemukan empat spesies lamun yaitu, Enhalus acoroides, Cymodocea rotundata, Thalassia hemprichii, dan Syringodium isoetifolium. Status padang lamun di pantai Desa Budo tergolong pada kondisi kurang kaya/kurang sehat dengan nilai penutupan 38,19%. Diketahui bahwa indeks nilai penting lamun tertinggi pada jenis lamun Thalassia hemprichii dan terendah Syringodium isoetifolium. Dengan demikian jenis lamun Thalassia hemprichii di pantai desa Budo merupakan jenis lamun yang berperan sebagai penstabil ekosistem padang lamun di perairan tersebut. Abstract

Mangroves play an important role in supporting life in coastal and marine areas. As plants that live in marine and land areas, mangrove forests transfer various kinds of nutrients both on land and into the sea. Decreasing area of mangrove forests leads to a decrease in mangrove litter production. Mangrove litter has a function as a carbon sink and storage. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of carbon content (C) and estimate the amount of carbon stored in the leaf litter of mangrove Rhizophora spp., in the mangrove forest of Wori Village, Wori District, North Minahasa Regency. The Litter-trap method (litter trapping net) was used in this study. Litter collection was carried out for 28 days in 12 litter-traps measuring 1x1 m2. All litters trapped in the litter-trap were weighed in their wet and dry weight, then analyzed in the laboratory to determine the carbon content. Based on the results of the analysis, the total average percentage of carbon content in mangrove litter 25.93% C, and from the estimation results, the average carbon content (C) in the litter is 19.99 tons/ha/year. Keywords: Mangrove, Litter, Litter-Trap, Carbon Content, Wori Village ABSTRAK Mangrove merupakan ekosistem yang berperan penting dalam mendukung kehidupan di wilayah pesisir dan kelautan. Sebagai tumbuhan yang hidup di wilayah laut dan darat, hutan mangrove mentransfer berbagai macam nutrien baik ke darat maupun ke laut. Berkurangnya luasan hutan mangrove menyebabkan produksi serasah mangrove juga berkurang. Serasah mangrove memiliki fungsi sebagai penyerap dan penyimpan karbon.Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui persentase kandungan karbon (C) dan Mengestimasi jumlah karbon yang tersimpan pada daun serasah mangrove Rhizophora spp., di hutan mangrove Desa Wori, Kecamatan Wori Kabupaten Minahasa Utara.Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode Litter- trap (jaring penangkap serasah). Pengumpulan serasah dilakukan selama 28 hari dalam 12 Litter-trap yang berukuran 1x1 m2 . Seluruh serasah yang terperangkap di dalam litter-trap di timbang berat basah dan berat keringnya, kemudian dilakukan analisis di Laboratorium untuk mengetahui kandungan karbon. Berdasarkan hasil analisis didapatkan total rata-rata persentase kandungan karbon serasah mangrove yakni sebesar 25,93 % C, serta dari hasil estimasi didapatkan rata-rata kandungan karbon (C) pada serasah sebesar 19,99 ton/ha/tahun.
