Abstract

Improving the quality of mathematics learning is an urgent need in education. One factor that plays a crucial role in the learning process is the use of learning media. This research aims to find out (1) the type of media that influences overall mathematics learning, (2) the summary effect size of the application of learning media that influences students' mathematics learning outcomes, and (3) whether the application of learning media influences students' mathematics learning outcomes. This type of research is meta-analysis, which is a study that uses data from previous research to be analyzed systematically and quantitatively in order to obtain comprehensive conclusions regarding the results of the research being studied. Data collection was carried out by searching for articles that were relevant to the topic being studied on internet network sites such as Google Scholar, Research Gate, One Search, Open Knowledge Map, Eric, IPI Search, and Microsoft Academic, using the keywords the influence of learning media on student learning outcomes. The samples analyzed are research reports that meet the predetermined sample criteria. The instruments used are data collection sheets, screening sheets, and feasibility sheets. Data analysis techniques use descriptive and inferential statistics. This research found that the most influential media was print media; the summary effect size was 0.636, which is within the criteria for a large high effect size, and the hypothesis test results showed that learning media had a significant effect on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Problem solving skills are an important foundation in understanding and applying mathematical concepts effectively. This ability is one of the main keys in developing a deep understanding of mathematical problem solving. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the application of the REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, and Transferring) learning model on students' mathematics problem solving skills. This quantitative research with a quasi-experiment applies a non-equivalent group design. This study involved students of class VIII MTsN 2 Enrekang. Data in the study were collected through a problem-solving ability-based learning outcomes test. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through an independent sample t-test. The results showed that REACT effectively improved students' mathematics problem solving skills in class VIII MTsN 2 Enrekang. Thus, the REACT learning model is feasible to enhance and develop students' mathematics problem solving skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang diajar menggunakan media macromedia flash dan powerpoint dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian quasi-eksperimental dan desain penelitian non equivalent control group. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja yang terdiri dari 2 kelas, yaitu kelas VIII A dan VIII B. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu dengan teknik sampling jenuh dengan memilih keseluruhan populasi sebagai sampel penelitian. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes pemahaman konsep matematis. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray media macromedia flash berada pada kategori sangat tinggi sebanyak 51,8%, kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray media powerpoint berada pada kategori sangat tinggi sebanyak 48,1%, dan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dengan media macromedia flash lebih efektif terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja dibandingkan dengan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dengan media powerpoint.

Abstract

PISA (Programme for International Student Assesment) is an international standard study conducted by OECD who assesing the literacy skills of 15-year-olds’ students which is followed by several participating countries,including Indonesia. The research aim to describe the problem solving ability of junior high school students in solving PISA’s mathematic problems personal context. The methods of data collction used were observation, interviews and documentations. The validity of the data uses technical triangulation. Data analysis techniques through three processes those are data reduction, data presentation and draw the conclution. According to analysis results, mathematical ability of students in solving PISA’s mathematic problem personal context st level 1 is very good, at level 2 dan level 3 is good, level 4 and level 5 is still a lack and at level 6 is the worst. The results of the research can be explained that mathematical ability of students in solving PISA’s mathematic problem personal context for level 1-3 is good and for level 4-6 still a lack.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the process of developing teaching materials (modules) as well as the degree of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of teaching materials (modules) based on open-ended on equations and quadratic functions of class X at SMAN 8 Bone. This research is classified as development research (Research and Development) and follows the 4D development approach (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The validation sheet, teacher and student response questionnaire, student activity observation sheet, teacher ability to manage learning observation sheet, and learning outcome test were used in this study. The process of making teaching materials (modules) is divided into four stages, namely the definition stage, design stage, development stage, and distribution stage. Data were collected from product trials to determine whether the product met the criteria of a good product or not. After assessment and development, the quality of the teaching materials (modules) produced is considered very valid with an average validator answer of 4.4. While the teacher response questionnaire shows the practicality of teaching materials (modules) with an average of 92.5% and the competence of instructors to manage learning with an average of 3.8 in the good category. The questionnaire can also be used to assess the effectiveness of teaching materials (modules). The positive student response was 83%, student activity was 81% with a very good category, and the results of the analysis of the learning outcomes test obtained a percentage of student learning completeness of 90.3% and a percentage of completeness of 90.3%. 9,7%. The results of these measurements indicate that the teaching materials have met the standards, so they can be used.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the important competencies that students must have in facing the challenges of the 21st century. These skills include the ability to effectively analyze, evaluate and synthesize information, which is crucial in making informed decisions and solving complex problems. Cooperative learning models have great potential in improving these skills by engaging students in group work that encourages interaction, discussion and sharing of ideas. There are many studies related to the application of cooperative learning models in improving students' critical thinking skills so that meta-analysis research is conducted to combine the results of these studies into one conclusion. This research was conducted to determine the effect of cooperative learning models on students' critical thinking skills. This research used a quantitative approach with the type of meta-analysis research. Data collection was carried out by searching for research reports in accordance with the topics studied on internet network sites. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a data collection sheet. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Based on the research conducted, it is concluded that the cooperative learning model affects the critical thinking skills of students. Thus, cooperative learning models are effective compared to conventional models in improving students' critical thinking skills. Keywords: Cooperative Learning; Critical thinking; Meta Analysis

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an individual's ability to formulate, use, and interpret mathematics in various contexts. However, currently students in Indonesia have very low literacy skills. The aim of this research is to test the effectiveness of a realistic mathematics approach in improving students' mathematical literacy skills. This type of research is quasi-experimental using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, involving 80 students as research samples. The instrument of this research is a test that is valid and reliable, and the data collected was analyzed using the N-Gain test and the Independent Sample t test. The results of this research show that in the experimental class the level of students' mathematical literacy ability was at level 4 at 62.5%, with an average value of students' mathematical literacy ability in the experimental class of 65.48, while in the control class the level of students' mathematical literacy ability was at level 4 it was 62.5%, with an average value of students' mathematical literacy skills in the experimental class of 65.48. So it was concluded that the realistic mathematics approach was effective in improving students' mathematical literacy skills, with the N-Gain Score achieved reaching 61% or quite effective.

Abstract

This community service aims to overcome students' understanding difficulties in the material of the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV) by utilising power point learning media and learning videos at MTsN Gowa. The method used is learning assistance with a focus on the preparation and implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBM), using innovative learning media such as power point media and learning videos. The results of this mentoring showed that the use of innovative learning media, such as power points and learning videos, succeeded in creating an interesting learning environment and supporting student learning success. Despite facing the obstacles of curriculum differences and student comprehension difficulties, the innovative measures succeeded in improving student understanding from block to block, with satisfactory results in the last block. Evaluation was conducted through learning outcome tests. The results of this service show that mentoring using power point learning media and learning videos successfully overcomes the obstacles that arise, and significantly improves student learning outcomes. This mentoring contributes to practical understanding and teaching strategies that can be applied in modern educational contexts.

Abstract

This study examines ethnomathematics in traditional jipang food, which relates mathematical concepts to cultural aspects, this has the potential to increase student interest through contextual learning. In addition, this study fills the study in the Bugis tribe area and integrates cultural values ​​​​in education, thus enriching the learning experience. This study aims to determine the process of ethnomathematics exploration in traditional snacks (Jipang) and its relationship to mathematics learning and its cultural values. Ethnomathematics examines the application of mathematical reasoning in everyday culture, especially in making traditional snacks such as Jipang. The method used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach, which includes observation, interviews, and documentation. The study was conducted in the Wajo Regency, especially among the Bugis tribe. The results of this study indicate that traditional Jipang snacks contain mathematical concepts, namely cuboid geometry, cubes, rectangles, and squares, related to mathematics learning, namely the concept of flat shapes and spatial shapes in elementary schools. These snacks reflect a philosophy of life that prioritizes the importance of the main ingredients and the way they are made, which involves family cooperation. This research is also expected to provide new insights into contextual and relevant mathematics teaching, improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts, and enrich the learning experience by integrating local culture. Showing the importance of utilizing traditional food as an effective learning tool in mathematics education.

Abstract

Partisipasi aktif peserta didik sangat penting untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang interaktif. Namun, berdasarkan analisis awal peserta didik kelas VIII C masih menunjukkan sikap pasif dan minim keterlibatan, di mana peserta didik sekadar mendengarkan, minim interaksi dan diskusi, sehingga tujuan pembelajaran yang telah direncanakan tidak tercapai dengan maksimal. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan mengatasi kepasifan peserta didik dalam kegiatan belajar yang mengacu pada lima indikator yaitu antusisme dalam mengikuti pembelajaran, interaksi peserta didik dengan guru, kerja sama kelompok, aktivitas dalam kelompok, dan partisipasi menyimpulkan hasil pembahasan. Metode yang diterapkan berupa pendampingan belajar yang terdiri dari tahap awal dan tahap pendampingan, memanfaatkan media pembelajaran crossword puzzle pada pembelajaran berbasis games (Teams Games Tournament). Peserta pendampingan merupakan peserta didik kelas VIII C MTsN Kota Batu yang berjumlah 27 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar pengamatan keaktifan, angket keaktifan peserta didik, angket respons peserta didik terhadap media, serta tes hasil belajar, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif yang dilengkapi dengan analisis kuantitatif sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keberhasilan pendampingan dengan tercapainya setiap indikator keaktifan belajar, sehingga penggunaan media crossword puzzle  efektif dalam meningkatkan keaktifan belajar peserta didik. Pendampingan ini memberikan kontribusi pada pemahaman praktis dan strategi pengajaran yang dapat diterapkan dalam konteks pendidikan modern
