Abstract

Effective mathematics learning is essential to equip students with logical and analytical thinking skills, especially in the 21st-century era that demands problem-solving competency and adaptation to complex challenges. However, the low mathematics learning outcomes in various schools indicate the need for a more interactive and contextual learning model. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Environmental Learning model on students' mathematics learning outcomes, especially at MA Darul Fallaah Unismuh Makassar. This study uses a pre-experimental design method with a one-group pre-test post-test design approach involving one class as a sample. The main instrument used is a mathematics learning outcome test. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference between students' mathematics learning outcomes after implementing the Environmental Learning model and students before implementing the Environmental Learning model. Thus, this model is effective for improving students' mathematics learning outcomes. Follow-up research can be conducted by testing the effectiveness of the Environmental Learning model at various levels of education or other subjects to expand the generalization of the results and understand its impact in different contexts.

Abstract

The development of effective and innovative mathematics learning modules is an important effort to improve the quality of the learning process, especially in materials that require concept understanding and creative thinking skills, such as trigonometry. One model that can be used to achieve this goal is creative problem solving (CPS), which invites students to find innovative and effective solutions to complex mathematical problems. This study aims to develop a math learning module based on creative problem-solving on trigonometry material that is valid, practical, and effective. The module development was conducted using the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The test subjects involved students of SMAN 21 Gowa. The research instruments were module validation sheets, educator and learner response questionnaires, observation sheets, and learner learning outcomes tests. The research data analysis focused on analyzing the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the creative problem-solving-based mathematics learning module on trigonometry material. The results showed that the creative problem-solving-based math learning module on trigonometry material had met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Thus, this learning module is suitable for use in the implementation of mathematics learning, especially in trigonometry material.

Abstract

Dalam dunia pendidikan, matematika sering dipandang sebagai sebuah ilmu yang tidak dipengaruhi oleh budaya sehingga membentuk pandangan negatif peserta didik. Hal ini mungkin terjadi dikarenakan matematika yang diajarkan di sekolah seringkali tidak kontektual terhadap kehidupan sehari – hari. Padahal seperti yang kita ketahui, Indonesia merupakan negara yang kaya akan budaya, tetapi guru belum menyadari bahwa budaya ini dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam pembelajaran. Cucuru bayao merupakan salah satu budaya masyarakat kabupaten Gowa. Tanpa disadari, masyarakat Kabupaten Gowa telah menerapkan konsep matematika dalam pembuatan dan penyajian cucuru bayao. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi etnomatematika pada kue tradisional Kabupaten Gowa yaitu cucuru bayao terhadap konsep matematika khususnya geometri dengan batasan ruang lingkup bangun datar dan bangun ruang, filosofi, dan nilai budaya yang ada di dalamnya. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada pembuatan dan penyajian cucuru bayao terdapat lingkaran, persegi delapan, trapesium, tabung, dan kerucut. Filosofi dari kue cucuru bayao mencakup simbolisasi harapan untuk kehidupan yang manis, dan nilai budaya dalam proses pembuatan yakni ketelitian, ketekunan, dan kesabaran serta nilai budaya dalam proses penyajian yakni keindahan.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the ethnomathematics concepts contained in traditional Bugis cakes and their application in geometry learning at school. The background to this research is the need for a mathematics learning approach that integrates local culture to increase students' understanding while preserving cultural heritage. The research method used is descriptive exploratory with a qualitative approach, involving observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that traditional Bugis cakes such as doko-doko utti, bolu cukke, cangkuning, onnde-onde, and nennu-nennu have geometric shapes related to geometric concepts, such as squares, balls, pyramids, and tubes. The application of these concepts helps students understand mathematics through concrete objects that are close to everyday life. This research contributes to geometry learning by introducing an innovative approach based on local culture that is relevant and interesting for students, while preserving tradition through education. Abstract

Ethnomathematics is a field of study that connects mathematical concepts with local cultural elements, thus providing a new understanding of how mathematics is present in people's daily lives. Songkok Recca, as one of the distinctive cultural elements of the Bugis community, holds various geometric patterns that not only have aesthetic value, but also reflect traditional mathematical understandings that have been passed down from generation to generation. This research is important to explore the relationship between mathematics and local culture, while preserving a cultural heritage that is full of scientific values. The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze mathematical concepts found in Songkok Recca, one of the distinctive cultural elements of the Bugis community. This research uses ethnographic method with qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used were direct observation of Songkok Recca, interviews with resource persons and documentation of visible geometric patterns. The results showed that Songkok Recca contains mathematical concepts in the form of geometric elements, such as ellipses, triangles, rhombuses, squares, tubes and geometric rows.Etnomatematika: Eksplorasi Pakaian Tradisional bugis Songkok Recca dalam Konsep GeometriABSTRAKEtnomatematika merupakan bidang kajian yang menghubungkan konsep-konsep matematika dengan elemen budaya lokal, sehingga memberikan pemahaman baru terhadap bagaimana matematika hadir dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat. Songkok Recca, sebagai salah satu elemen budaya khas masyarakat Bugis, menyimpan berbagai pola geometris yang tidak hanya memiliki nilai estetika, tetapi juga merefleksikan pemahaman matematika tradisional yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun. Penelitian ini menjadi penting untuk menggali keterkaitan antara matematika dan budaya lokal, sekaligus melestarikan warisan budaya yang sarat dengan nilai-nilai keilmuan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis Konsep-konsep matematika yang terdapat pada Songkok Recca, salah satu elemen budaya khas masyarakat Bugis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi langsung terhadap Songkok Recca, wawancara dengan narasumber serta dokumentasi pola-pola geometris yang terlihat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Songkok Recca mengandung konsep-konsep matematika berupa unsur geometri, seperti elips, segitiga, belah ketupat, persegi, tabung dan barisan geometri.Kata Kunci :etnomatematika;Songkok Recca; Geometri, Bugis

Abstract

This study aims to explore the ethnomathematics concepts in Apang, a traditional cake of the Bugis people, focusing on applying geometric concepts and cultural values embedded in its production and presentation processes. Using an ethnographic approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that Apang incorporates geometric plane concepts, such as triangles and rhombuses, as seen in the shape and molds of the cake. Additionally, the steaming vessel for Apang is cylindrical with a conical lid, reflecting the application of solid geometry in traditional tools. Apang also embodies the cultural values of the Bugis community, including togetherness, simplicity, gratitude, and patience. It is often served during traditional events such as thanksgiving ceremonies, Menre Bola Baru, and Ramadan traditions. Thus, this study not only reveals the application of mathematical concepts in daily life but also enriches the understanding of the interaction between culture and mathematics within the Bugis community.

Abstract

In an effort to improve one's critical thinking skills through mathematics, of course, an instrument or special material is needed to measure critical thinking skills, one of which is through an ethnomathematics-based test instrument. This research is research and development (R&D), which involves developing test instruments with the formative research model (Tessmer). This development goes through two stages, namely preliminary and self-evaluation stages. The research was conducted on 4th-semester students who had studied mathematical economics. Validation sheets, tests, and questionnaires were used to collect data. The data collected were analysed using question validity analysis, student and lecturer response analysis, and test quality analysis, including reliability, difficulty level, and differentiability. At the same time, the critical thinking skills of students will be analysed descriptively. The results of this development obtained ethnomathematics-based test instruments that meet the criteria for validity, reliability, differentiability, difficulty level, and practicality according to standards. Thus, ethnomathematics-based test instruments are feasible to use to measure students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop mathematics teaching materials based on discovery learning models on the subject of sequences and series. This type of research is Research & Development (R&D). The development model used is the model proposed by Plomp which consists of the initial investigation phase, the design phase, the realization phase and the evaluation and revision test phases. The test subjects in this study were students of class XI MAN 1 Makassar. The instruments used in this study were the expert validation sheet, the observation sheet of the teacher's ability to manage learning, the student activity observation sheet, the student response questionnaire, the teacher response questionnaire and the conceptual understanding test. Based on the results of the trials conducted, it was found that the teaching materials developed met the valid, practical, and effective criteria.

Abstract

Education is a basic human need that must be realized through effective learning methods. The purpose of this research is to develop a learning module in number theory course based on AIR (Auditory, Intellectually, and Repetition) cooperative learning model, which meets the standards of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a type of development research (Research and Development, R&D) using the ADDIE model. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and learning outcomes tests. The subjects of this study were 27 students of Mathematics Education Study Program of UIN Alauddin Makassar. The instruments used include module validation sheet, module implementation observation sheet, student response questionnaire, lecturer response questionnaire, student activity sheet, lecturer observation sheet in managing learning, and learning outcomes test. The data were analyzed based on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the module. The results showed that the developed learning module has met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Thus, the learning module based on AIR type cooperative learning model is feasible to be used in learning number theory courses.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 1 Majene melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan model pembelajaran CORE. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi-experimental design dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian ini melibatkan 57 sampel dari kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Majene yang terdrii dari dua kelas yakni kelas VII A dan VII B yang masing-masing diberi perlakuan model pembelajaran Jigsaw dan CORE. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik simple random sampling karena karakteristik siswa bersifat homogen, tanpa adanya kelas unggulan. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan dua teknik, yaitu statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial. Hasil analisis statistik inferensial menunjukkan adanya perbedaan kemampuan penalaran matematis antara siswa yang belajar dengan model Jigsaw dan siswa yang belajar dengan model CORE. Meskipun kedua model memberikan dampak positif, model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan model CORE.
