Abstract

While online learning continues to expand, there remains a lack of reliable evaluation tools to accurately assess students' mathematical abilities. This study aims to address this gap by developing a test instrument, supported by the iSpring application, to effectively measure these abilities. This study falls under the category of 'Research and Development' (R&D), a systematic process aimed at creating and testing innovative solutions to address specific challenges within the field of education. The research instruments consist of validity sheets, lecturers, student response questionnaires, and tests. An analysis of the expert assessment sheets was then carried out, including an analysis of the responses of students and lecturers, the validity of the questions, the reliability test, the level of difficulty test, and the different tests of the questions. The development process followed four stages: preliminary analysis, self-evaluation, prototyping, and field testing. The resulting instrument demonstrated high validity and reliability, was categorized as practical, and consisted of items with an easy difficulty level and moderate discrimination power. Meanwhile, the average mathematics ability of students is in the moderate category.

Abstract

Technology in learning must be optimized, one of which is using learning. This study aims to determine the process of developing learning videos and the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of learning videos. This type of research is Research and Development research with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The instruments used are a validation sheet, a learning implementation observation sheet, a student activity observation sheet, a teacher response questionnaire, a student response questionnaire, and a mathematical literacy ability test. The research subjects were students of class VIII, 2 MTs Negeri Gowa. The results showed that the validation analysis achievement by the validator team was 3.83, which is a very valid category. Practicality criteria of 90.38% with a very positive response, and the results of observations of learning implementation 1.85, with the category fully implemented. The results of the effectiveness criteria were 85.43% with a positive response, 71.05% student activity observation analysis with a good category, and 76.05%. So it is concluded that the context-based learning video on SPLDV material to improve students' mathematical literacy skills is of good quality, as evidenced by the average student being at level 4, namely 68.42%. So that it is effectively applied in the learning process because it meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Other researchers can also develop videos with different tools and materials.

Abstract

Indonesian local culture contains various elements that can be utilized as media for mathematics learning, particularly in the field of geometry. This study aims to analyze geometric concepts in Indonesian local culture. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data collection was conducted by documenting and analyzing relevant articles on ethnomathematics published between 2019 and 2024. A total of 13 nationally accredited journal articles obtained from the Google Scholar and Scopus databases were used in this study. The findings indicate that various geometric concepts, such as flat shapes (squares, triangles, trapezoids), solid shapes (cylinders, blocks), and geometric transformations (symmetry, rotation), are found in various aspects of Indonesian local culture, including art, architecture, and traditional crafts. Based on the results, a variety of geometric concepts embedded in Indonesian local culture were identified. These findings suggest that Indonesian local culture can be utilized by teachers as a contextual and relevant medium for teaching geometry.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the ethnomathematics concepts contained in traditional Bugis cakes and their application in geometry learning at school. The background to this research is the need for a mathematics learning approach that integrates local culture to increase students' understanding while preserving cultural heritage. The research method used is descriptive exploratory with a qualitative approach, involving observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that traditional Bugis cakes such as doko-doko utti, bolu cukke, cangkuning, onnde-onde, and nennu-nennu have geometric shapes related to geometric concepts, such as squares, balls, pyramids, and tubes. The application of these concepts helps students understand mathematics through concrete objects that are close to everyday life. This research contributes to geometry learning by introducing an innovative approach based on local culture that is relevant and interesting for students, while preserving tradition through education. Abstract

This research is a research and development that aims to develop and assess the quality of student worksheets (LKPD) using ethnomathematics-based prediction, observation, and explanation (POE) learning models to improve students' mathematical critical thinking abilities that are valid, practical, and effective. This research is a development research that refers to the ADDIE development model, namely, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In this research, the test subjects were students of class VIII G MTs Al-Urwatul Wutsqaa Sidrap Regency with 26 students. Based on the results of the trials that have been carried out, it is found that (a) The validation of LKPD and other instruments are 3.78 in the "very valid" category, (b) Practical based on the average percentage for the implementation of LKPD has 1.93 of average with the implemented category. Overall, the percentage of the average student response is 93.75% with a very positive category, and the average teacher response is 100% with a very positive category. Thus, the developed LKPD meets practical criteria. (c) Effective because the average percentage of students’ activity is 84.13% with the very good category, the average ability to manage learning is 4.1 in the good category. The average percentage of student learning outcomes tests on critical thinking abilities is 78.6.  Therefore, it could be said that students' critical thinking abilities used LKPD is good. It can be concluded that the trial phase which was carried out using the ethnomathematics-based student worksheet of POE learning models to improve students' critical mathematical abilities had met the criteria of validity, practicality and effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of ethnomathematics concepts to the traditional Bugis-Makassar cake, Baruasa, especially in the context of geometry and the cultural values contained therein. Using an ethnographic approach, this study involves direct observation, interviews, and documentation to understand the cultural philosophy and local mathematical practices applied in the making and serving of the cake. The results show that the round shape and dense texture of Baruasa cake symbolize the values of togetherness, unity, and resilience. In addition, the process of making this cake contains geometric elements such as circles and squares, which are relevant for culture-based mathematics learning. This study contributes to preserving cultural heritage through a scientific approach and provides inspiration in integrating local culture into mathematics teaching.
