Abstract

This study aimed to gather information about the approaches and strategies used by Indonesian language teachers in teaching writing lessons in Indonesian language classes in response to the previous studies identifying junior high school students’ challenges in Indonesian language writing. A survey was done using an online questionnaire distributed to 166 teachers from various schools in the country. However, only 126 were taken, as the rest admitted that they did not teach Indonesian language writing in their classes. The questionnaire was adopted from Self-Assessment of Writing Strategies by Marquette University and was validated to serve valid and reliable data. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and teachers’ proficiency in coping with various approaches to teaching the language and their keen strategies to help students in the writing classes were found. The findings suggested that despite teachers' proficiency in many approaches to teaching, students still encountered challenges in multiple aspects of writing. Therefore, there was a need for continuous improvement in curriculum design and to assist students through corrective feedback to help them cope with their writing problems. In summary, the study emphasized the importance of ongoing research, professional development, and improved writing instruction.

Abstract

Abstract

Social media is part of the digital change that colors the world of communication. The increasingly rapid development brings changes in the language structure adopted from online platforms. The TikTok and Instagram applications that are currently often used by teenagers present an informal language style. This informal language is called slang. Slang is often used by teenagers to simplify language and find identity. However, this often leads to hate speech, violence, and even impoliteness in communication. So this study aims to pay special attention to the challenges posed by slang. Politeness as a necessity must not fade among teenagers. This will also affect acts of violence, hatred and other immoral acts. In this study, researchers used quantitative methods. This is useful for determining the influence of the use of slang among teenagers in communicating. Comparison of views from the questions asked will be the results and discussions. The results of this study in the form of TikTok and Instagram allow teenagers to create and spread new slang quickly. Usage tends to adapt words and phrases according to trends and popular content on this platform. Teenagers who use social media intensively are more likely to use slang in everyday communication. The conclusion of this study is that social media, especially TikTok and Instagram, contribute significantly to the development of slang among teenagers. These platforms accelerate the spread and adoption of new terms, enable language creativity and help build group identity.

Abstract

Religious traditions are integral to character education and the preservation of cultural values. This study examines the haul (annual commemoration) of Abuya Uci in Pasar Kemis, Tangerang, as a medium for shaping religious character and preserving local cultural heritage. The annual event at Al-Istiqlaliyah Islamic Boarding School in Cilongok attracts tens of thousands of attendees, facilitating socio-religious interaction. The gap identified in this study is the lack of research on religious commemorations as tools for character education and cultural preservation. Using a library research approach, this study highlights how the haul of Kiai Uci transmits values like humility (tawadhu’), service (khidmah), love of knowledge, and social solidarity. The results suggest that the haul is more than a ritual; it serves as a hidden curriculum for character education and a strategic tool for preserving cultural heritage. It underscores the role of the kiai as a guardian of values, even posthumously.

Abstract

The rise of Generation Z as a distinct demographic group has posed new challenges and opportunities for public speaking, especially in the field of da’wah (Islamic preaching). As digital natives, Generation Z engages with content in ways that differ significantly from previous generations, making it essential for Muslim lecturers to adapt their public speaking strategies to connect effectively with this audience. This research explores the public speaking strategies used by Muslim lecturers to attract and engage Generation Z in da’wah. The study employs a qualitative research design, conducting interviews with Muslim lecturers who have successfully used digital platforms and innovative methods to deliver their messages to younger audiences. The findings reveal that interactive content, visual aids, relevant social media usage, and humor are among the most effective strategies for engaging Generation Z. Lecturers who incorporated personal stories and interactive sessions found higher levels of engagement and greater impact. The study concludes that for Muslim lecturers to effectively attract Generation Z, they must embrace modern communication tools while maintaining the integrity and relevance of Islamic teachings. Future research should explore the long-term impact of these strategies and how they affect the retention of Islamic values among Generation Z.

Abstract

Accretion disks are material structures that form when gas, dust or plasma is pulled towards a black hole by its strong gravity. In rotating (Kerr) black holes, the dynamics of the accretion disk becomes more complex due to frame-dragging effects that affect particle trajectories and energy release patterns. This study aims to develop an algorithm for calculating the force F(x) on particles in the accretion disk by considering the non-linear interaction between the black hole spin parameter and the relative position of the particles. The developed algorithm uses logarithmic and trigonometric approaches to improve the accuracy of the force calculation. The results show that variations in the spin parameter and relative position significantly affect the force distribution in the accretion disk. Visualization of the force interaction reveals the existence of non-linear patterns that contribute to the system dynamics. The main contribution of this research is the refinement of force calculation models that previously did not fully incorporate the combined effects of logarithmic and trigonometry in particle interactions. The proposed approach offers a more accurate predictive tool to explore the physical processes around black holes, and supports the interpretation of observational data from telescopes and gravitational wave detectors
