Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being applied in elementary education to improve the quality of learning. This study analyzes the potential and challenges of implementing AI in elementary schools in Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi, based on a literature study. Using the IMRAD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) approach, this study examines various scientific sources related to the benefits and obstacles to implementing AI in elementary education. The results of the study indicate that AI can increase student engagement, enable personalized learning, and assist teachers in providing more effective feedback. However, there are challenges such as teacher readiness, limited infrastructure, and lack of supporting policies. This study emphasizes the need for teacher training, infrastructure development, and policy support so that AI can be optimally implemented in elementary schools. This study provides insights for academics, education practitioners, and policy makers in developing effective AI implementation strategies. Further studies are needed to explore the long-term impacts and the best models for integrating AI in elementary education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Organizational Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) of the HMPS PGSD, Southeast Sulawesi University, was carried out in Konda Satu Village as a response to the declining interest of the younger generation in Tolaki culture, which has increasingly been eroded by modernization. This program aims to establish the Sanggar Anak Desa as a center for cultural preservation, enhance teacher capacity through a Tolaki culture–based teaching module, and actively involve the community and traditional institutions in education-based artistic activities. The implementation methods included planning, execution, and evaluation stages. The results of the program indicate a growing interest among children in traditional dance, improved teacher competence in integrating culture into learning, and the establishment of an institutionalized art studio formalized through a Village Head Decree (SK). In addition, the Tolaki Mini Dance Festival served as the peak cultural appreciation event, encouraging active community participation. Overall, this program contributes to strengthening cultural identity, building a culture-based educational ecosystem, and promoting the sustainability of Tolaki cultural preservation in Konda Satu Village.
