Abstract

This community service program was implemented to address the limited use of digital marketing tools and e-commerce platforms in promoting maggot-based products produced by the Tui Jati Livestock Farmer Group. Prior to the program, product marketing was conducted conventionally and remained confined to local buyers due to the absence of digital promotional media. The activities were carried out through several stages including initial assessment, formulation of instructional materials, delivery of thematic training sessions, and direct mentoring for establishing an online marketplace account. During the training, participants were guided to develop a complete business profile, prepare standard product images, write informative descriptions, set appropriate prices, and manage incoming inquiries from potential buyers. The outcomes demonstrate significant improvement in participants’ digital competencies, especially in organizing online storefronts, ensuring product visibility, and maintaining communication channels with consumers. In addition, participants were able to update their product listings independently and sustain account activity after the program. Overall, this community service initiative has successfully increased digital literacy, strengthened product commercialization, expanded market access opportunities, and positioned e-commerce as a practical and sustainable marketing approach for maggot-based products.

Abstract

The livestock sector has long been recognized by the community and remains acrucial economic pillar for family livelihoods. Through the application of simpletechnology, livestock waste such as manure, urine, and leftover feed can beprocessed into organic fertilizer, which enriches the soil, enhances agriculturalproductivity, and reduces dependence on costly inorganic fertilizers. Theseskills have the potential to improve productivity and sustainability in agriculturein the village of Desa Persiapan Batu Asak, Praya Barat District, Lombok Tengah.Based on this perspective, a training program on processing livestock waste intoorganic fertilizer was implemented to improve the welfare of farmers andlivestock breeders in Desa Persiapan Batu Asak, Praya Barat District, LombokTengah. The method of implementing the training activities for making organicfertilizer is carried out in two stages, namely; the first stage is providing trainingmaterials with lectures and discussions and distributing brochures so thatparticipants can understand the steps and techniques for making organicfertilizer. The second stage is carried out by means of direct demonstrationpractices so that livestock farmers can do it properly and correctly. The positiveimpact of this training is that livestock farmers can have skills in processingmanure waste into organic fertilizer. In addition, the organic fertilizer producedcan be used as agricultural plant fertilizer and can reduce the use of inorganicfertilizers which are increasingly rare and expensive. Organic fertilizer also hasbenefits in improving soil conditions physically, chemically, and biologically sothat the land in the Village of Preparation of Batu Asak is always maintained inits fertility.

Abstract

Abstract The partner organisation engaged in community service activities is the Livestock Farmer Group, designated as 'Putra Ano Siup', situated in Teluk Santong Village, Plampang District, Sumbawa Regency-NTB. The issue at hand is the low level of livestock productivity, which is a consequence of the lack of knowledge among farmers with regard to feeding management, particularly in terms of nutritional adequacy. One potential solution is the utilisation of QR and barcode scanner applications, which could assist farmers in the evaluation of feed quality and nutritional adequacy in a convenient and accurate manner. The objective of this activity is to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of farmers in leveraging digital technology to enhance the productivity and well-being of their livestock. It is therefore anticipated that there will be an increase in livestock productivity in this village, which will in turn lead to an improvement in the economic welfare of the local community. The activity method comprises a socialisation session on the importance of good and correct feeding management for ruminants, with a particular focus on nutritional adequacy. This is complemented by an introduction to the QR&Barcode Scanner application. It was determined that the majority of farmers demonstrated an understanding of the evaluation of livestock nutritional adequacy and the utilisation of the application following the socialisation activity, with a level of comprehension ranging from 80% to 90%. This can be considered an indicator of the activity's efficacy and the positive response it received from farmers, with as many as 75% of participants expressing a willingness to implement it. Keywords: socialisation; QR Code; nutrition evaluation; teluksantong.

Abstract

The instability of animal feed prices has encouraged the utilization of alternative feed ingredients to partially replace commercial rations. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of fermented Azolla pinnata inclusion at different levels on feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), crude protein intake, and crude fiber intake of Joper chickens. The research was conducted under a completely randomized design that included five dietary treatments: P0 (100% commercial feed), P1 (15% unfermented Azolla pinnata), P2 (10% fermented Azolla pinnata), P3 (15% fermented Azolla pinnata), and P4 (20% fermented Azolla pinnata). The results showed that feed intake and FCR were not significantly affected by dietary treatments. However, body weight gain, crude protein intake and crude fiber intake differed significantly among treatments. The lowest crude protein intake was observed in chickens fed unfermented Azolla pinnata (P1), while diets containing fermented Azolla pinnata maintained crude protein intake comparable to the control diet. Crude fiber intake increased with higher levels of Azolla pinnata inclusion, particularly in the non-fermented treatment. In conclusion, the inclusion of Azolla pinnata, either unfermented or fermented, did not affect feed intake and FCR of Joper chickens, but significantly influenced body weight gain, crude protein and crude fiber intake. The inclusion of 10% fermented Azolla pinnata provided the most optimal result by maintaining body weigt gain and higher protein intake with a relatively more stable crude fiber approaching the control, thus supporting efficient nutrient utilization and production performance of joper chickens.
