Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi dan menganalisis ukuran-ukuran tubuh pada sapi Belgian Blue, Peranakan Ongole dan silangannya. Sapi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 30 ekor terdiri atas 7 ekor sapi Belgian Blue (BB), 8 ekor sapi Peranakan Ongole (PO) dan 15 ekor silangannya (BBxPO) yang dipelihara di Balai Embrio Ternak (BET) Cipelang Bogor, Indonesia. Peubah ukuran-ukuran tubuh yang diamati adalah panjang badan, tinggi pundak, dalam dada, lebar dada, lingkar dada, tinggi pinggul dan lebar pinggul, sedangkan indeksasi yang dihitung adalah weight, height slope, length index 1, length index 2, width slope, depth index dan foreleg length. Data ukuran-ukuran tubuh pada setiap bangsa sapi dikoreksi berdasarkan umur dan jenis kelamin. Selanjutnya data ukuran-ukuran tubuh dan nilai indeksasi dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam (ANOVA) dengan program SAS 9.4. Analisis Komponen Utama (AKU) dengan pendekatan biplot dianalisis menggunakan program XLSTAT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ukuran-ukuran tubuh dan indeksasi pada setiap bangsa sapi berbeda (P0.05). Hasil analisis komponen utama memperlihatkan bahwa ketiga bangsa sapi yang dianalisis secara jelas terpisah baik sapi BB, PO dan silangannya. Bangsa sapi BB dan silangannya (BBPO) memiliki karakter peubah spesifik dan menjadi penciri pada setiap bangsa sapi. Dengan demikian arah seleksi dapat mengacu pada karakter yang diinginkan sebagai sapi penghasil tipe pedaging. Evaluation of the Body Measurements on Belgian Blue, Peranakan Ongole and Its Crossbreed Cattle ABSTRACT. This study was aimed to evaluate and analyze body measurements in Belgian Blue (BB), Ongole Breed (PO) and its crossbreed (BBPO) cattle. The number of cattle used in the study were 30 heads, with 7 heads of Belgian Blue cattle, 8 heads of Ongole breed cattle, and 15 heads of its crossbreed cattle were kept in the Animal Embryo Centre (BET) Cipelang Bogor. The variables observed were body length, withers height, chest depth, chest width, girth depth, rump height, and hip-width and the calculated indexations were weight, height slope, length index 1, length index 2, width slope, depth index, and foreleg length. The body measurement data on each breed of cattle was corrected by age and sex. Furthermore, analysis of body measurement and indexing was using Analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SAS program 9.4. As for Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with a biplot approach analyzed using XLStat program. The result showed that body measurement and indexing on each breed of cattle was different (P0.05). The result of principal component analysis (PCA) suggested that the three breeds analyzed to separate the BB, PO, and it's a crossbreed. The BB and its crossbreed had specific character and became an identifying mark in every breed of cattle. Thus, the direction of the selection can refer to the qualities desired as producing beef cattle type.

Abstract

Susu kambing merupakan hasil utama dari kambing PE bermanfaat bagi tubuh, seperti proses metabolisme tubuh karena mengandung berbagai nutrisi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu penyimpanan dan metode pasteurisasi terhadap karateristik fisikokimia susu kambing peranakan etawa (PE) di kabupaten Lombok Barat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dan eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor yaitu pasteurisasi dan lama penyimpanan. Data di analisa menggunakan SPSS dengan uji lanjut Duncan multiple range test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor penyimpanan dan pasteurisasi menghasilkan pengaruh yang signifikan pada parameter pH dan warna susu, faktor pasteurisasi berpengaruh singnifikan pada WI. Sedangkan interaksi antara faktor penyimapan dan pasteurisasi memberikan pengaruh yang nyata pada parameter pH, warna dan TPT. Perlakuan terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah perlakuan pasteurisasi HTST dengan penyimpanan 0 hari, karena beberapa karakteristiknya sesuai dengan SNI seperti keadaan sampel berdasarkan warna (putih susu), aroma (aroma khas susu kuat), dan kenampakan (homogen). L* sebesar 87,08, nilai a* sebesar -1,84, nilai b* sebesar 14,85 serta nilai hue sebesar -82,94 dan nilai WI 80,23.

Abstract

Penyuluhan manajemen beternak sapi potong memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan produktivitas dan kesejahteraan peternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penyuluhan manajemen beternak sapi potong yang dilakukan di Kelompok Ternak Tunas Maju, Desa Setanggor, Kecamatan Praya Barat, Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. Metodologi yang digunakan meliputi survei, wawancara, dan observasi langsung terhadap anggota kelompok ternak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan yang diberikan berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam aspek manajemen pakan, kesehatan ternak, dan reproduksi. Peternak yang mengikuti penyuluhan secara aktif menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam praktik beternak yang lebih efisien dan berkelanjutan. Selain itu, hasil evaluasi juga mengungkapkan bahwa penyuluhan membantu mengatasi beberapa masalah yang dihadapi peternak, seperti kekurangan pakan dan penyakit ternak. Kesimpulannya, penyuluhan manajemen beternak sapi potong di Kelompok Ternak Tunas Maju telah memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan produktivitas dan kesejahteraan peternak. Rekomendasi untuk penyuluhan selanjutnya adalah peningkatan frekuensi dan variasi materi penyuluhan, serta pengembangan program pelatihan yang lebih komprehensif untuk menjawab kebutuhan spesifik peternak di wilayah tersebut.

Abstract

Semen contains various biochemical substances, both beneficial for life functions and toxic substances that can damage spermatozoa, such as metabolic wastes and free radicals. Semen washing will optimize spermatozoa fertility, as harmful substances and the main energy source are removed. Therefore, giving fructose or glucose is necessary for energy recovery. The washed Boer Bucks semen was stored in Tris-egg yolk (TEY) without glucose or fructose (T1), TEY plus 1% glucose (TEYG, T2), and TEY plus 1% fructose (TEYF, T3). Each treatment was repeated 5 times to observe motility, viability, abnormalities, and intact plasma membrane (IPM) spermatozoa. We analyzed the data using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the SPSS-20 application. In 8 hours of storage, the results indicated that the average motility of spermatozoa in T1, T2, and T3 was 42.00 ± 1.67%, 44.33 ± 2.88%, and 49.00 ± 2.53%. The viability percentages were 45.67 ± 1.21%, 48.00 ± 1.41%, and 53.50 ± 2.59%, while the abnormality percentages were 15.33 ± 0.52%, 14.50 ± 1.05%, and 12.17 ± 1.17%. The IPM was 42.67 ± 1.21%, 44.50 ± 1.05%, and 49.33 ± 1.75%. In conclusion, glucose or fructose can maintain the quality of spermatozoa post-washed, with the best quality obtained from 1% fructose/100 ml of diluent. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of cassava flour in various levels on the physical and organoleptic quality of meatballs made from mutton. The physical and organoleptic quality tests included measurements of pH, cooking shrinkage, yield, aroma, taste, colour, and texture. The research design applied was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five repetitions. For data analysis, ANOVA was used on physical parameters and organoleptic test with Kruskal Wallis method. The findings of the study showed that the highest pH, cooking shrinkage, and yield were achieved in P3, which was with the addition of cassava flour at the level of 20%. Aroma, flavour, and texture did not show a significant effect on the variation of the level of cassava flour addition. However, colour has a significant effect related to the level of cassava flour addition of 20%. It can be concluded that the addition of cassava flour at the level of 20% can affect the colour, pH, cooking shrinkage and yield of mutton meatballs.

Abstract

The need for animal protein in Indonesia continues to increase, driving the popularity of goat milk as an alternative to cow's milk that is easier to digest and has health benefits. This study aims to review genetic and nutritional factors that affect the production and quality of dairy goat milk. The method used is a literature review of relevant scientific sources. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that genetic and nutritional factors play a major role in goat milk production. Imported goats such as Alpine (2,633 liters/lactation) and Saanen (2,621 liters/lactation) are more productive than local breeds such as Sapera (264.6 liters/lactation) and Peranakan Etawa (154.3 liters/lactation), supported by strict genetic selection and optimal maintenance management. Milk composition also varies, with Senduro goats having the highest total solids (14.30%), protein (3.74%), and fat (6.40%) compared to Alpine. Nutrition plays an important role in supporting milk production, with high protein sources such as lamtoro (32.0%) and turi (31.29%), as well as fat from turi (7.57%) and indigofera (6.15%) which increase milk fat content. Genetic and nutritional factors affect the production and quality of goat milk, with imported goats being more productive and Senduro goats being superior in milk composition. Proper feed and good management improve milk quality and livestock health. Understanding these genetic and nutritional factors is expected to be the basis for efforts to increase the productivity and quality of dairy goat milk in Indonesia

Abstract

Penyuluhan manajemen ternak sapi diberikan kepada kelompok ternak Iye Gati diDesa Sukadana Kecamatan Pujut Lombok Tengah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dalampemeliharaan, perkandangan, kesehatan, dan reproduksi sapi potong. Keberhasilanpeternakan bergantung pada pembibitan, pakan, dan manajemen pemeliharaan, denganfaktor non-genetik berkontribusi besar terhadap efisiensi reproduksi. Pengabdian inibertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penyuluhan manajemen pemeliharaan ternak sapiyang dilakukan di Kelompok Ternak Iye Gati di Desa Sukadana Kecamatan PujutKabupaten Lombok Tengah. Kurangnya pengetahuan peternak dalam pemeliharaanmenjadi tantangan utama. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan berperan penting dalam meningkatkanwawasan peternak serta mendukung ketahanan pangan dan pertanian berkelanjutan (SDGspoin 2). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui survei, wawancara,observasi, pemaparan materi, dan diskusi untuk meningkatkan produktivitas peternakan diDesa Sukadana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan yang diberikan berhasilmeningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam aspek manajemenpemeliharaan. Peternak yang mengikuti penyuluhan secara aktif menunjukkan peningkatansignifikan dalam praktik beternak yang lebih efisien dan berkelanjutan. Selain itu, hasilevaluasi juga mengungkapkan bahwa penyuluhan membantu mengatasi beberapa masalahyang dihadapi peternak, seperti kekurangan pakan dan penyakit ternak. Kesimpulannya,penyuluhan manajemen pemeliharaan ternak sapi di Kelompok Ternak Desa Sukadana telahmemberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan produktivitas dan kesejahteraanpeternak. Abstract

Desa Teniga, yang terletak di Kabupaten Lombok Utara, merupakan salah satu wilayah dengan potensi peternakan sapi yang cukup besar, namun sebagian besar masyarakatnya masih menerapkan sistem pemeliharaan secara tradisional dan semi-intensif. Tantangan yang dihadapi peternak mencakup rendahnya pemahaman tentang manajemen kesehatan ternak, pemberian pakan yang kurang optimal, serta teknik pemeliharaan yang belum terstandarisasi. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas peternak lokal melalui pendekatan edukatif dan partisipatif yang menekankan pada optimalisasi manajemen kesehatan, pakan, dan pemeliharaan sapi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi diskusi kelompok terarah (FGD), penyuluhan interaktif, serta demonstrasi lapangan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan kesadaran peternak terhadap pentingnya sanitasi kandang, pemberian pakan berbasis nutrisi, serta pengelolaan kesehatan sapi secara preventif. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini, diharapkan para peternak tradisional di Desa Teniga mampu menerapkan praktik pemeliharaan sapi yang lebih efektif dan berkelanjutan, sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas serta kesejahteraan ekonomi keluarga peternak.

Abstract

The cultivation of edible bird's nest in North Lombok Regency is experiencing rapid growth. This can be attributed to the rising demand for edible bird's nest products. Nevertheless, the primary challenge to its advancement is the presence of nuisance animals. The objective of this study was to identify and categorise nuisance animals present in edible bird's nest cultivation sites within the boundaries of the Tanjung sub-district. The present study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection undertaken via purposive sampling. The findings of this study identified seven species of nuisance animals in edible bird’s nest cultivation in the area of Tanjung Subdistrict. The following animals are included in this category: snakes, rats, geckos, owls, bats, cockroaches, and ants. These animals have the capacity to exert a direct influence on the swiftlet population, thereby diminishing edible bird’s nest production, particularly within the confines of the Tanjung Subdistrict.

Abstract

Hypertension is a global health issue that often goes unnoticed due to its lack of symptoms and poses a risk of serious complications such as heart disease and stroke. One food frequently associated with elevated blood pressure is goat meat. This article aims to review various research findings regarding the relationship between goat meat consumption and the risk of hypertension. The method used is a literature review of 20 scientific articles published between 2001 and 2022, obtained from databases such as Google Scholar and PubMed. The findings indicate that consuming goat meat in moderation does not cause hypertension, primarily due to its lower saturated fat content compared to beef and chicken. Hypertension is more influenced by genetic factors, high-sodium diets, and unhealthy lifestyles. Excessive salt used in the preparation of goat meat dishes may trigger high blood pressure, particularly in individuals with impaired kidney function. From an Islamic perspective, moderate meat consumption was also exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions. Therefore, goat meat can serve as a nutritious food source if consumed wisely in appropriate portions and frequency.
