Abstract

The incidence of non-communicable diseases in Indonesian society, especially in big cities like Tangerang, is still relatively high. Non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and cholesterol, especially in adults over 18 years old, are high. Community service will be conducted in Tangerang City, especially in Porisgaga Village, where hypertension and cholesterol occur. Hypertension and cholesterol problems can be identified by first conducting an examination. Examination by health workers is one of the parameters to determine the normal limits of the disease. Cholesterol is often considered harmful because of its association with cardiovascular disease, even though it has a vital role in various biological functions. Therefore, an initial examination is needed to determine the disease suffered. This activity was carried out on 17 people by examining blood pressure and cholesterol. This community service found that 52.9% of people had high hypertension, and 23.5% had high cholesterol. There needs to be an effort to educate people and change their lifestyles to prevent more serious diseases in the future.

Abstract

Adolescence is a phase in which adolescents enter an unstable age regarding behavior and attitude. This is due to the adolescent's personality type, which will influence how they behave. One of the adolescent ages is someone who enters high school (SMA). The method used in this community service involved 77 adolescents who attended senior high schools in Tangerang City. Furthermore, the community service conducted online screening of adolescent personality types using e-forms. The results obtained from 77 adolescents were that 38 adolescents (49.3%) had extrovert personality types, 27 adolescents had introvert personality types, and the remaining 12 adolescents (15.6%) had ambivert personality types. The activities carried out in this community service included conducting personality screening, counseling on adolescent age and psychological problems in adolescents, and FGD (Forum Group Discussion). It was found that adolescents with personality types need assistance from health workers or teachers to express good attitudes. Furthermore, there needs to be collaboration between schools, health centers, and health services to carry out further activities, especially to strengthen adolescents' mental health.

Abstract

Background: Earthquakes impose both physical injuries and psychological disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of exercise therapy in preventing and managing physical and psychological trauma among populations in these regions. Methods: The protocol was registered in PROSPERO (registration number: CRD420251130734) and followed the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A literature search was conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, and ProQuest (January 2014–August 2025) using MeSH terms and Boolean operators. Eligible studies included the randomized control trial (RCT), quasi-experimental, cohort, and controlled field trials examining exercise interventions for trauma-related outcomes in earthquake settings. Two reviewers independently screened studies, extracted data, and assessed quality using the PEDro scale. Results: Nine studies met the criteria, covering adolescents, older adults, disaster survivors, and refugees. Interventions ranged from yoga and aerobic training to strengthening and community-based rehabilitation. Exercise therapy consistently improved physical (pain, mobility, function) and psychological outcomes (PTSD, anxiety, depression), but methodological flaws, lack of blinding, concealed allocation, and intention-to-treat analysis limited the evidence to moderate quality. Conclusion: Exercise therapy supports both physical recovery and psychological resilience in earthquake-affected populations, but more high-quality RCTs with standardized protocols are needed to strengthen evidence and inform its integration into disaster management.

Abstract

Background: Nursing students have a higher risk of depression due to their high academic burden, social isolation, pandemic loneliness, abrupt online learning, and financial difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Although the disruption of social network patterns during the pandemic has been observed in previous studies, it is still not fully understood which source of social support is associated with depression among nursing students.Purpose: This study aimed to assess the correlations between sources of social support and depression among nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: An online cross-sectional study was conducted between May and September 2021. Nursing students (n=734) from seven universities across four provinces in Indonesia were recruited as participants using convenience sampling methods. Data were obtained through online questionnaires consisting of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) to assess social support and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) to assess depression. Spearman-Rank correlation tests were used to examine the correlations between sources of social support and depression.   Results: Most of the nursing students (85.1%) were female, with a mean age of 19.94 years (SD=1.42). Many nursing students (n=313; 42.6%) experienced depression. Most of the students (n=465; 63.4%) perceived high family support, moderate friends (n=415; 56.5%) and significant others’ support (n=437; 59.5%). Of the three sources of social support (family, friends, and significant others), only family support had a significant inverse correlation with depression (Rho=-0.492, p<0.001).Conclusion: Family support had a significant inverse and moderate correlation with depression among nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our findings provided information to nursing educators to incorporate a strategy to maintain robust family support and regular depression assessments as part of the online learning curriculum. Therefore, it can be used to ameliorate depression among nursing students.

Abstract

Background: Young people often face challenges in determining their life goals due to various influencing factors. This issue is a major problem for young people living in earthquake-prone areas. Purpose: This study aims to develop and test a structural equation model (Structural Equation Modeling/SEM) of life goals in young adults in areas prone to earthquake disasters. Methods: The model used in this study is SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) which is operated through the Smart PLS program. SEM data processing builds a measurement model and a structural model. The SEM process involved three key steps: confirmatory factor analysis to test the instrument's validity and reliability, path analysis to evaluate the relationships between variables, and structural model analysis to assess and predict the model's overall suitability. Results: Most of the study participants were female (87.2%) aged 18-21 years (67.5%). More than half of the respondents were undergraduate students (68.9%) who were single (96.5%), and respondents who had no history of trauma (66.1%). Normality analysis showed that the absolute values of skewness and kurtosis of all variables did not exceed 1.97 and 2.58, respectively, thus meeting the recommended criteria for a normal distribution. In this study, the fit index of the hypothesized model met the recommended criteria so that the overall model fit was considered acceptable. This indicates that the hypothesized life purpose model for young adults in areas prone to earthquake disasters is appropriate. Path analysis showed that 10 of the 15 paths were statistically significant. Conclusion: Model development shows variables that are quite effective in forming a model to improve the life purpose of young adults in areas prone to earthquake disasters.

Abstract

Hypertension is a serious medical condition that may increase the risk of heart disease and stroke, and is one of the global health priorities. In Indonesia, many people suffer from hypertension, and they are unaware of the problem because it may have no warning symptoms. So to minimize the impact, a hypertension diet needs to be done. Counseling really needs to be conducted to help increase public knowledge regarding the implementation of the hypertension diet. The results of the counseling showed that people were aware of the importance of a hypertension diet, because this disease may trigger other diseases. Undergoing a low-sodium diet and avoiding foods that trigger hypertension need to be accompanied by regular exercise. The results of the counseling showed that 70% of the counseling participants had knowledge of the hypertension diet, so that the counseling could be said to have been maximized. However, similar counseling needs to be further carried out on a wider scope to generate greater benefits.
