Abstract

Final-year students at Teuku Umar University often experience stress while writing their thesis. This study examined the relationship between psychological well-being (PWB) and academic stress using a cross-sectional design. A total of 93 students from six faculties participated. PWB was measured with the Ryff Psychological Well-Being scale, and academic stress was assessed using the DASS-42 stress subscale. Results showed that 57% of students had high PWB, especially in personal growth, while 57% experienced moderate stress and 13% reported severe stress. On average, PWB scores were 78.7 ± 7.8 and stress scores were 33.9 ± 7.5. Students with higher PWB generally had lower stress, but some still felt pressured due to deadlines, workload, or family responsibilities. Support from supervisors, friends, and family helped, along with personal coping strategies like time management and short breaks. Overall, strong PWB can reduce stress but does not remove it completely, highlighting the need for both personal effort and institutional support during the thesis-writing period.

Abstract

ABSTRACT West Aceh Regency continues to report a high prevalence of stunting cases, with one of the highest incidences found in Bubon Subdistrict, registering at 36.9%. In response, the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) has implemented various interventions aimed at reducing stunting rates, including the Toddler Family Development Activity Group Program (POKTAN BKB). This study aims to analyze maternal participation in the POKTAN BKB program as a preventive measure against stunting, utilizing the Health Belief Model (HBM) framework. This research employed a quantitative approach with an observational design and a cross-sectional methodology. The study was conducted in Bubon Subdistrict, targeting a population of 269 mothers with toddlers, from which a sample of 147 respondents was selected. The findings revealed that among the independent variables—namely perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy—there was a statistically significant correlation between perceived severity and maternal participation in the program (p-value = 0.027), as well as between self-efficacy and participation (p-value = 0.003). Conversely, no significant correlation was observed between program participation and the variables of perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, or cues to action. It is recommended that future research undertakes a more in-depth exploration of participation levels within the POKTAN BKB program. A comprehensive and integrative study is essential to elucidate the interactions among perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, cues to action, self-efficacy, and other contributing factors that may influence maternal engagement in the POKTAN BKB initiative Keywords: Health Belief Model, Family, Toddler, Participation, Stunting.  ABSTRAK Aceh Barat masih menduduki angka kasus stunting yang tinggi, salah satu nya di Kecamatan Bubon yaitu dengan persentase (36,9%). Abstract

Coal loading and unloading workers at Meulaboh Seaport are at high risk of accidents and health problems due to dust exposure, heavy workloads, and unsafe working conditions. Although the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management program has been implemented, its execution remains low. Many workers are not disciplined in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), OSH training is not optimal, and supervision is still weak. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the implementation of OSH management programs among loading and unloading workers at Meulaboh Seaport. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design and involved 32 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate techniques. The results showed a significant relationship between work discipline (p = 0.005), training (p = 0.010), supervision (p = 0.022), and OSH evaluation (p = 0.010) with the implementation of the OSH management program. It is recommended that the management of Meulaboh Seaport, as the company’s policy maker, continuously improve the existing OSH management system to ultimately enhance worker performance, which will bring both financial and non-financial benefits to the seaport. For workers, it is advised to prioritize occupational safety and health by complying with the established OSH management system.

Abstract

In palm oil mill processing companies, workers do a lot of activities using tools and machines that have a high frequency of vibration so that there is a risk of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) complaints in PT Beurata Subur Persada (BSP) Nagan Raya workers. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with HAVS complaints in workers at PT Beurata Subur Persada Nagan Raya. This research method uses quantitative analytics with a crossectional design. The results of bivariate analysis showed that age was associated with HAVS complaints p-value=0,05 while the last level of education p-value=0,99, unit/section p-value=0,31, and knowledge p-value=0,22 were not associated with HAVS complaints. Based on these results, the company is expected to provide safety antivibration gloves that meet safety stnadards and pay attention to comfort aspects, schedule regular health screenings for each worker so that they can detect HAVS complaints early.

Abstract

Indonesia is the fourth country worldwide regarding smartphone use, reaching 100 million users. The use of cell phones has a negative effect called phone addiction, which can lead to further health problems, both physical and non- physical health problems. This study aimed to model the incidence of phone addiction in students in suburban areas. The population of this study were students of Muhammadiyah University Gresik who were 17 years old, had a smartphone, used a smartphone for> 2 years, and had internet access. Data was collected online from March - April 2020 with 101 respondents. Samples were selected using simple random sampling. The condition of phone addiction was measured using the Smartphone Addiction Scale Short Version (SAS-SV) questionnaire. Analysis was carried out using Pearson chi-square and multiple logistic regression. The results of the bivariable analysis obtained variables associated with the onset of phone addiction, namely age, last education, residence, location of residence, and faculty of origin of respondents. The results of the multivariable analysis that was carried out obtained several significant variables, namely the age of the respondent (0.09; aPR 0.393) and the duration of daily cellphone use (0.05; 1.543). Students are a population with a high risk of developing phone addiction. One of the most critical factors for the onset of phone addiction is the high duration of cell phone use. Preventive measures need to be taken to reduce and prevent the onset of phone addiction in students before it causes further health problems.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health threat in South Aceh, Indonesia. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the DHF control program at Lhok Bengkuang Health Center using input, process, output, outcome indicators. A descriptive qualitative study was conducted from December 2024 to January 2025. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with officers from the South Aceh Health Office, the health center chief, program coordinators, and affected community members. Thematic analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s approach. Triangulation and member checking ensured data validity. DHF cases declined from 22 in 2023 to 7 in 2024. Control activities included source reduction (PSN), larviciding, fogging, health education, epidemiological investigations, and vector surveys. However, the Larvae Free Index (ABJ) remained below the national target of 95%. This indicates partial effectiveness, constrained by limited entomology staff and inadequate personal protective equipment for fogging. Strengthening resources and aligning local implementation with national standards are essential to sustain progress. The DHF control program effectively reduced cases but requires reinforced human resources, adequate equipment, and improved community engagement to meet national targets

Abstract

Flood disasters in Pidie Jaya Regency adversely affect food security and the nutritional status of toddlers due to disrupted access to essential nutrients. This community service aimed to provide local food-based Supplementary Feeding (PMT) in the form of mung bean porridge and soy milk to toddlers in Blang Cut Village. The methods included field observations, nutritional education using visual media, and PMT distribution. The results showed an increase in mothers' nutritional literacy regarding processing affordable local food rich in protein, iron, and zinc. The PMT products had high acceptability as children liked the taste and texture. In conclusion, pulse-based PMT intervention is an effective solution for emergency nutritional fulfillment for flood survivors to prevent stunting risks. Program sustainability is supported by the community's enthusiasm for replicating food processing independently to strengthen post-disaster health resilience.

Abstract

Floating houses have become a unique attraction in Kuala Bubon Village, Samatiga Subdistrict, West Aceh Regency. Following the tsunami, the fishing community in Kuala Bubon Village received housing assistance in the form of houses built on water, often referred to as floating houses. These floating houses present both a challenge and an opportunity for use in freshwater fish farming.  Utilizing the space beneath floating houses for freshwater fish farming can provide fishermen with an alternative livelihood beyond open-sea fishing. This study on the use of the space beneath floating houses for fish farming aims to examine the utilization of this space for fish farming, along with its challenges and potential. The study was conducted through the 2026 Student Impact Program using a qualitative descriptive method, involving interviews and observations during the implementation of fish farming assistance to the Kuala Bubon fisherfolk partner group, who utilize the spaces beneath floating houses for fish farming. The spaces beneath floating houses can be productively utilized for the cultivation of gurami, tilapia, and catfish using the fixed-net cage system. Challenges in utilizing these spaces for fish farming include the potential for heavy metal bioaccumulation, difficulties in implementing water quality management, and lower productivity compared to artificial ponds. Fish farming under the house is recommended for gurami, tilapia, and catfish, considering consumer safety regarding heavy metal bioaccumulation.
