Abstract

ABSTRACT West Aceh Regency continues to report a high prevalence of stunting cases, with one of the highest incidences found in Bubon Subdistrict, registering at 36.9%. In response, the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) has implemented various interventions aimed at reducing stunting rates, including the Toddler Family Development Activity Group Program (POKTAN BKB). This study aims to analyze maternal participation in the POKTAN BKB program as a preventive measure against stunting, utilizing the Health Belief Model (HBM) framework. This research employed a quantitative approach with an observational design and a cross-sectional methodology. The study was conducted in Bubon Subdistrict, targeting a population of 269 mothers with toddlers, from which a sample of 147 respondents was selected. The findings revealed that among the independent variables—namely perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy—there was a statistically significant correlation between perceived severity and maternal participation in the program (p-value = 0.027), as well as between self-efficacy and participation (p-value = 0.003). Conversely, no significant correlation was observed between program participation and the variables of perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, or cues to action. It is recommended that future research undertakes a more in-depth exploration of participation levels within the POKTAN BKB program. A comprehensive and integrative study is essential to elucidate the interactions among perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, cues to action, self-efficacy, and other contributing factors that may influence maternal engagement in the POKTAN BKB initiative Keywords: Health Belief Model, Family, Toddler, Participation, Stunting.

Abstract

Toddler immunization is an important effort to prevent infectious diseases and improve children’s health. However, immunization coverage in Tenom District is still low, at 25.6%. This study aims to analyze toddler immunization behavior based on the Theory Planned Behavior (TPB). The method used is quantitative with a cross-sectional survey design, involving 180 respondents from 18 villages selected by cluster random sampling. Inclusion criteria include mothers with toddlers aged 0-5 years, living in the Teunom health center area, being able to speak Indonesian, not using a caregiver, and willing to be respondents. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires and direct observation of toddler KIA books. Data analysis using the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that bivariately there was a significant influence between attitude (OR = 2.128; P = 0.017), perceived behavioral control (OR = 2.577; P = 0.003), and intention (OR = 2.652; P = 0.002) on the type of immunization. However, subjective norms had no effect (OR = 1.706; P = 0.094). Multivariately, the intention variable became dominant with OR 2.241 and P = 0.019, indicating that respondents with bad intentions were twice as likely to not receive complete immunization. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between attitude, perceived behavioral control and intention towards the type of immunization in toddlers. While there is no relationship between subjective norms and the type of immunization in toddlers.

Abstract

Coal loading and unloading workers at Meulaboh Seaport are at high risk of accidents and health problems due to dust exposure, heavy workloads, and unsafe working conditions. Although the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management program has been implemented, its execution remains low. Many workers are not disciplined in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), OSH training is not optimal, and supervision is still weak. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the implementation of OSH management programs among loading and unloading workers at Meulaboh Seaport. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design and involved 32 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate techniques. The results showed a significant relationship between work discipline (p = 0.005), training (p = 0.010), supervision (p = 0.022), and OSH evaluation (p = 0.010) with the implementation of the OSH management program. It is recommended that the management of Meulaboh Seaport, as the company’s policy maker, continuously improve the existing OSH management system to ultimately enhance worker performance, which will bring both financial and non-financial benefits to the seaport. For workers, it is advised to prioritize occupational safety and health by complying with the established OSH management system.
