Abstract

Based on PISA data, it shows that the scientific literacy position of Indonesian students is still in the last 10th rank compared to other countries. This shows the lack of skills of Indonesian students in solving PISA questions because in the learning process the assessment instruments used in schools have not reached the criteria for scientific literacy competence. This study aims to produce an assessment instrument based on environmental-change science literacy in class X students that is valid, practical, has varying levels of difficulty, has good discriminatory power, and is reliable. This type of research is research and development with a 4-D development model. The research subjects consisted of 47 students of class X of SMAN 16 Batam and the validators consisted of 2 lecturers of FMIPA UNP and 1 teacher of SMAN 16 Batam. This study resulted in a logically valid scientific literacy-based assessment instrument (85.26%). The results of the practical test of scientific literacy-based assessment instruments by teachers and students respectively were an average score of 82.77% (teachers) and 82.44% (students). The results of the analysis of instrument items using ANATES Version 4.09 are: on multiple choice questions of 0.40-0.69 (medium to high correlation), and very high reliability (0.90); on the questions of description, compound, and attitude of 0.34-0.80 (low to high correlation), and very high reliability (0.81). In the test of discrimination power of questions and the level of difficulty of the questions, the scores are quite varied.

Abstract

The low critical thinking skills of students in the human skeletal system material, due to Biology learning has not implemented learning models and teaching materials that facilitate students to practice critical thinking skills. This type of research is development research using 4-D models (four-D models), which is limited to the development stage. The research subjects were two Biology lecturers, FMIPA UNP, two Biology teachers, and 31 students of Class XI Science at SMAN 2 Lintau Buo. This study uses data analysis techniques, namely descriptive statistics. The results showed that the LKPD based on the RANDAI model from the validity test was very valid with a value of 94.25%. While the readability test by the teacher was very well read with a value of 92.26% and read very well by students with a value of 92.69%. LKPD based on the RANDAI learning model has been produced on the Human Movement System for Class XI SMA/MA which is very valid and reads very well.

Abstract

The low problem solving skills of students is caused by the ongoing learning process that is not yet fully centered on students and the learning model used is not optimal and varied. This study aims to determine the problem solving skills of students in class X IPA SMAN 1 Matur. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of class X science at SMAN 1 Matur in the academic year 2021/2022. The research sample was students of class X IPA 1 as the control class and X IPA 2 as the experimental class. Sampling using total sampling technique. The instrument used is a question sheet in the form of an essay question consisting of 6 questions. The results showed that the problem-solving skills of the experimental class were higher than that of the control class with an average pretest of the experimental class (66.71), the posttest of the experimental class (77.84), the pretest of the control class (59.13) and the posttest of the control class ( 68.55). Data analysis was carried out by using paired sample t-test which showed that the significant value of the sample class was <0.05, namely 0.00. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of applying the RANDAI learning model to the problem solving skills of students in class X IPA SMAN 1 Matur.

Abstract

One of the lessons that answers the needs of 21st century students is learning by applying the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) approach. The form of integrating the STEM approach in learning can be done through learning resources such as LKPD. This study aims to analyze the application of the STEM approach to biology learning. This research method uses a descriptive research type and uses a 4-D model. Data collection was carried out by observing 30 students and interviewing 1 Biology teacher. Qualitative data analysis was carried out by interviewing, collecting data, analyzing and concluding. The results of this study indicate that students need worksheets with an attractive appearance, besides attracting students they also need worksheets that demand critical, creative, innovative and collaborative thinking skills with the aim of directing students to solve problems in a project assignment that is in the worksheets, and the results appropriate to meet the needs of students, namely by analyzing the application of the STEM approach to biology learning.

Abstract

Utilization of the laboratory through practical activities is important to carry out in the learning process because it can support students' understanding of the subject matter so that it is hoped that learning outcomes in the form of Science Process Skills will increase. This study was conducted to collect sufficient information on the analysis of the relationship between the use of laboratories and the Science Process Skills of students. The method used in this study is through a literature study that collects several previous studies to answer the relationship between the use of laboratories and the Science Process Skills of students. The results of the study mostly stated that the use of laboratories had a considerable influence on the Science Process Skills of students. Based on the results of this literature study, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the use of laboratories and the science process skills of students.Keywords: Laboratory, Science Process Skills, Literature Study

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to provide scientific information and knowledge concerning to the update of the immune system topic which is closely related to COVID-19. This activity provides health information toward science and biology teachers regarding efforts to maintain immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers need to develop the learning process, so that teachers are able to present learning that is innovative, interactive, interesting, meaningful, and fun. The approachment taken by providing training in the case method learning, case method provides stimulation to teachers on how to create development in the learning process. This activity took place in Aka Barayun, Harau, Lima Puluh Kota regency. This activity was attended by 50 teachers of Science and Biology Lima Puluh Kota regency. Most of the teacher's agree with the implementation of the case method as an innovative learning method integrated with the COVID-19 pandemic phenomenon. This case method training can increase teacher knowledge in developing learning method. Based on the results of the pre-test questionnaire given to teachers before the training began, 64% of teachers did not know the case method learning. Most of teacher 57% strongly agree and the rest of the teacher 43% agree to integrate cases in the learning process as the starting point of the learning process.

Abstract

Biologi merupakan salah satu cabang ilmu yang memiliki peran dalam kehidupan, khususnya dalam bidang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi (IPTEK). Salah satu model pembelajaran yang mampu mendorong siswa memahami dan meningkatkan kreativitas pembelajaran adalah model pembelajaran berbasis proyek yaitu project based learning (PjBL). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran PjBL terhadap kreativitas siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi-eksperimen, menggunakan teknik posttest only control design. Lokasi penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 12 Padang dengan populasi penelitian siswa kelas XI IPA. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 1 untuk kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas XI IPA 2 untuk kelas kontrol. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran berbasis proyek berpengaruh positif terhadap pengembangan kreativitas siswa dalam penguasaan materi biologi hasil signifikan (2-tailed) < 0,05 yaitu 0,000 yang berarti hipotesis diterima. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model PjBL berpengaruh positif terhadap kompetensi keterampilan siswa.

Abstract

This study aimed to investige the gap between teachers' perception and practice of implementing the learning models by biology teachers. This article applied descriptive quantitative research design, with the Learning Models Questionnaire (LMQ) used to collect the data. The research subjects were 78 teachers who are members of Science Subject Teachers’ Meeting (SSTM) and the object of research was the understanding and application of learning models. The results showed that there were three gaps related to the understanding and implementation of the biology learning model. First, there was around 70% of biology teachers stated that they understood learning models, however just only 25% of teachers understood the need for rational selection of models, building reaction systems, providing learning tools, and managing time. Second, teachers have good knowledge of learning models, but less than 35% of teachers implement them in class. Third, teachers have perceptions about the characteristics of the learning model, namely syntax, objectives, and learning tools, but in practice some teachers still do not understand syntax, do not know the purpose of the model being applied, and do not prepare learning tools that support the implementation of the learning model. There are a number of gaps between the understanding and practice of learning models by biology teachers, it is important to follow up as an indication of the teacher's pedagogical competence is still weak in understanding and applying learning models. These insights will impact the development of teachers' understanding of the learning models.

Abstract

The RANDAI learning model is one of the learning models that can be used in biology learning. This model can be applied by using learning media that supports the implementation of the syntax of the learning model, one of which is in the form of a digital book. This study aims to produce an Integrated RANDAI-Based Digital Book on Local Potential on Biodiversity Materials for Class X SMA/MA. This research is a research and development research using the Plomp development model. The subjects in this study were 3 biology lecturers, 1 biology teacher and 31 students. The data obtained in this study are in the form of validity and practicality data. This study resulted in a very valid and practical RANDAI-Based Digital Book Based on Local Potential on Biodiversity Materials for Class X SMA/MA with a validity value of 92.53% meeting the very valid criteria and the practicality value by the teacher with a value of 91.91% meeting the very criteria. practicality and practicality scores by students with a value of 86.93% meet the practical criteria. Key words: Digital Books, RANDAI Learning Model   Abstrak. Model pembelajaran RANDAI adalah salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran biologi. Model ini dapat diterapkan dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran yang mendukung pelaksanaan sintaks dari model pembelajaran tersebut, salah satunya dalam bentuk buku digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Buku Digital Berbasis RANDAI Terintegrasi Potensi Lokal pada Materi Keanekaragaman Hayati untuk Kelas X SMA/MA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (research and development) dengan menggunakan model pengembangan Plomp. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 3 orang dosen Biologi, 1 orang guru biologi dan 31 orang peserta didik. Data yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini berupa data validitas dan praktikalitas.  Penelitian ini menghasilkan Buku Digital Berbasis RANDAI Terintegrasi Potensi Lokal pada Materi Keanekaragaman Hayati untuk Kelas X SMA/MA yang sangat valid dan praktis dengan nilai validitas 92,53% memenuhi kriteria sangat valid dan nilai praktikalitas oleh guru dengan nilai 91,91% memenuhi kriteria sangat praktis dan nilai praktikalitas oleh peserta didik dengan nilai 86,93% memenuhi kriteria praktis.
