Abstract

Implementation of 2013 Curriculum which is able to form students who have the ability to think at a high level as the demands of the times. One effort to develop students' higher-order thinking skills is to use appropriate assessments so that students can get used to working on higher-order thinking skills. This study aims to produce an instrument for assessing high-order thinking skills about heredity material for students of class XII SMA / MA that are valid. This study uses a 4-D models development model consisting of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. However, the disseminate stage was not carried out due to limited time and money from the researchers. The subjects of this study were 3 validators, 2 biology subject teachers and 33 students of class XII MIPA 3 at SMAN 7 Padang. The data collection instrument was in the form of a validity questionnaire filled out by biology lecturers at UNP and biology subject teachers at SMAN 7 Padang. Data analysis using the ANATES 4.09 application. Based on the results of the data analysis instrument for the assessment of high-order thinking skills that have been tested, the results obtained are in the form of an instrument for assessing high-order thinking skills about heredity material for students of class XII SMA / MA that are logically very valid with a value of 93.14%, hight of empirical with a value of 74%, and very reliabel with a value of 8,4. Which can be used by teachers to measure and activate students' of higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

STEM literacy in education aims to be able to prepare students to be able to compete in the world of education in the world of work in the future. The benefit of STEM Literacy is that it makes students more skilled in all areas including science, technology, mathematics, and engineering. In ad- dition, STEM literacy can also make students improve their critical thinking skills and become crea- tive, logical, innovative, productive and relate directly to real conditions. This study aims to analyze the needs of students' STEM literacy achievement assessment in learning biology. The type of research used is descriptive, with data collection techniques carried out by conducting observations and inter- views. The results showed that biology learning has been implemented based on STEM literacy, stu- dents are still less enthusiastic in reading, students are more interested in learning related to technol- ogy, teachers do not know the assessment of students' STEM literacy achievement in biology learning.

Abstract

Climate change is a phenomenon that discusses in one of the topics of Science (IPA) that could be integrated with biotechnology. The topic might be studied further in terms of ecopedagogy. The purpose of this study was to measure HOTS with the Higher Order Thinking Assessment instrument based on the Environmental Problem of Climate Change (HOTS-AEPCC) and to analyze the relationship between ecopedagogy and biotechnology. The method used in this research was descriptive with the data collection technique using a survey. The results indicated that the students' HOTS scores as measured by HOTS-AEPCC were still in the low category. Therefore, the results of the analysis showed that the topic of biotechnology in science learning was suitable. It assumed that ecopedagogy could combine with biotechnology. This study concludes that the students' HOTS score is still low. Therefore it is necessary to develop science learning oriented to climate change.

Abstract

This study aims to produce an instrument for assessing high-order thinking skills about cell division material for students in class XII that are logically valid and empirically, practical and reliable. This study uses a 4D models development model consisting of the stages of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The dissemination stage was not carried out due to time and cost limitations. The subjects of this study were three validators consisting of two lecturers at the Department of Biology, Padang State University, and one teacher at Senior High School 2 Painan. Practicality was carried out by two biology teachers and 34 students of class XII of Senior High School 2 Painan. The data collection instruments were validation sheets and practicality tests. Data were analyzed using ANATES 4.09 application. The instrument for assessing high-order thinking skills about cell division material for class XII students who get an average logical validity value of 89.02% with valid criteria, the practical average value is 91.70% with very practical criteria. The empirical validity data analysis results obtained 37 questions out of 50 questions with a value of 74%, reliability of 0.89 with very high criteria. It can be concluded that an instrument for assessing the ability to think at a higher level about cell purchasing material is logically valid and empirically valid, practical, and reliable

Abstract

Pada abad 21 ini perkembangan teknologi sudah semakin pesat seiring dengan perkembangan zaman yang berpengaruh dalam segala aspek kehidupan, sehingga pentingnya  untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi peserta didik. Salah satu literasi yang penting dimiliki oleh pendidikan dalam manyangsang di revolusi industri 4.0 adalah literasi STEM. Literasi STEM merupakan kemampuan untuk mengenal pasti, mengaplikasikan, serta mengintegrasikan konsep atau komponen sains, teknologi, rekayasa, dan matematika untuk memahami masalah dan menyelesaikannya dengan inovasi dan kreatifitas. Literasi STEM dalam pembelajaran biologi berdampak positif dimana literasi STEM dapat membuat peserta didik menjadi lebih ingin mengetahui pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan untuk mengidentifikasi masalah maupun fenomena alam yang terjadi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan awal literasi STEM peserta didik. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif. Populasi dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Sutera yang berjumlah 68 orang dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu sampling jenuh. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan soal literasi STEM sebanyak 18 soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan awal literasi STEM peserta didik pada pembelajaran biologi kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Sutera berada pada kategori sedang dengan presentase rata-rata 60,43%. Presentase literasi sains 61,44%, literasi teknologi dan rekayasa 57,35%, dan literasi matematika 62,5%.

Abstract

Creating a valid and reliable instrument is very necessary to produce a quality and accountable research. A research instrument must also be able to meet the requirements so that what you want to measure can produce accurate data. This study aims to develop a standard and quality instrument for measuring students’ s self-efficacy in Biology learning. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with the aim of knowing the quality of the items on the three dimensions of self-efficacy, namely the dimensions of level, strength, and generality, that it can be used to measure the self-efficacy of students in learning biology. The instrument used is a self-efficacy questionnaire consisting of 40 statements. Sample in this research is 20 students in grade XI MIPA SMAN 2 Hiliran Gumanti. The items in instrument analysis test, was conducted by a validator, namely through professional judgment or expert review. The data analysis technique used is the validity test using Pearson's Product Moment analysis and the reliability test using the Chronbach Alpha technique. The results of the study and data analysis showed that the instrument for measuring students' self-efficacy was valid and reliable. So it can be concluded that the research instrument meets the criteria for use in the next analysis, because it can measure students' self-efficacy even though there are several items that must be revised first.

Abstract

Salah satu media pembelajaran yang bisa digunakan untuk membantu proses pembelajaran adalah modul. Modul dapat membuat peserta didik lebih tertarik untuk mengikuti proses pembelajaran karena mempermudah peserta didik dalam memahami materi dan juga penggunaan modul sebagai media pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pengembangan modul biologi menggunakan pendekatan saintifik dilengkapi kartu bergambar pada materi hewan invertebrata untuk kelas X di SMA Pertiwi 2 Padang. Studi dilakukan dengan menggunakan survei menggunakan angket yang disebarkan kepada 23 orang peserta didik kelas X IPA dan satu orang guru Biologi SMA Pertiwi 2 Padang. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik membutuhkan sumber bahan ajar pada materi hewan invertebrata. Kriteria bahan ajar yang dibutuhkan oleh peserta didik yaitu materi disajikan lengkap, singkat, padat, jelas, dan disertai gambar yang menarik. Pengembangan modul kartu bergambar sebagai sumber bahan ajar yang dapat mengatasi permasalahan yang dihadapi guru dan peserta didik khususnya pada materi hewan invertebrata.

Abstract

One of the efforts to improve students' argumentation and critical thinking skills in 21st century learning is to apply problem solving learning models by paying attention to students' academic abilities. The type of research used is quasi-experimental with a 2x2 factorial design. The study population was students of class VIII SMPN 18 Padang, while the research sample was students of class VIII.8 and class VIII.7 by taking samples based on certain criteria. The instrument is a data collection technique with a written test. Data analysis was performed by testing the two-way ANOVA hypothesis using SPSS. The results showed that: (1) the problem-solving learning model affected students' argumentative skills and critical thinking. (2) the problem-solving learning model affects the argumentative and critical thinking abilities of students with high and low academic abilities. (3) there is no interaction between the problem-solving learning model and the academic ability of students 'argumentation skills (4) there is an interaction between the problem-solving learning model and the academic ability of students' critical thinking skills. To sum up, problem solving learning model is able to realize students who have critical thinking skills and arguments that can compete in the era of globalization needed in this 21st century education

Abstract

Online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic is an educational innovation that involves elements of information technology in learning. This online learning is one of the unavoidable efforts for educational institutions so that the learning process continues during the Covid-19 pandemic in order to maintain health and prevent the spread of the virus by continuing to study from home. This study aims to describe the biology learning of students through online learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The population of this study were all students of class X science. The research sample amounted to 162 students consisting of 6 classes. The sampling technique is a total sampling technique. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Where after the data that has been obtained collected is classified according to a predetermined formula, which is described in words or sentences according to predetermined categories to obtain a conclusion. The results of this study indicate that there is an online biology lesson for students. Biology learning through online learning for students shows the highest score of all students using 100% Handphone devices and the lowest score of 0%.

Abstract

Pada era 4.0 ini mengharuskan sumber daya manusia untuk berkompeten agar mampu bersaing. Pada saat sekarang ini peserta didik banyak yang tidak mampu untuk menerapkan hasil pembelajaran biologi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, hal itu dapat dipicu oleh pemilihan sumber belajar yang kurang memadai, sehingga mengakibatkan rendahnya literasi sains peserta didik. Hal tersebut mengharuskan kekreativitasan seorang guru dalam proses pembelajaran agar kualitas belajar peserta didik dapat meningkat. Cara yang dapat dilakukan salah satunya yaitu mengaitkan materi pembelajaran dengan budaya lokal yang nantinya dapat menambah pengetahuan sains peserta didik serta dapat meningkatkan literasi sains peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui modul pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pembelajaran etnosains pada materi biologi. Metode yang dilkukan pada penelitian ini adalah Literatur Review. Berdasarkan literatur review yang telah dilakulan dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemilihan sumber pembelajaran yang tepat serta berbasis etnosains dapat meningkatlan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik.
