Abstract

Generation Z exhibits unique learning characteristics, such as reliance on technology, a preference for interactive learning, and active engagement in the learning process. This study aims to identify effective strategies to enhance teacher professionalism in bridging the gap between traditional teaching methods and the needs of Generation Z. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method based on a literature review. Data were collected through the identification, selection, and in-depth analysis of 11 relevant scholarly articles. Content analysis techniques were used to categorize the data into main themes, such as digital literacy gaps, unequal technological infrastructure, resistances to change, and a lack of continuous professional training. The findings reveal that the primary challenges faced include digital literacy gaps, unequal technological infrastructure, resistance to change, and insufficient continuous training. Recommended solutions include implementing digital literacy training, developing innovative curricula such as gamification and flipped classrooms, improving technological infrastructure, and strengthening supervision by school principals. Furthermore, teachers are encouraged to collaborate through professional learning communities to share experiences and teaching strategies

Abstract

The digital era presents significant opportunities and challenges for the teaching profession, particularly in terms of recognition and appreciation for their contributions. Teachers are expected to adapt to technology to improve the quality of learning but often face obstacles such as lack of training, limited infrastructure, and non-inclusive reward systems. This article aims to explore the challenges faced by teachers in the digital era and propose strategies to enhance the dignity of the profession. The study was conducted through a literature review collected from academic databases such as Sinta and Google Scholar, covering the period 2018-2024, with a focus on sustainable technology training, holistic contribution-based reward systems, and cross-sector collaboration. Thematic analysis techniques were used to identify key themes such as the challenges of technology adaptation, unequal reward systems, and the humanistic roles of teachers. The results indicate that recognizing the humanistic roles of teachers, along with technological support and equitable rewards, is crucial for maintaining their dignity. This research provides concrete recommendations to support teacher professionalism in the digital era

Abstract

Abstrak. Rendahnya literasi sains di kalangan siswa sekolah menengah di Indonesia menjadi tantangan dalam pembelajaran kimia, terutama pada topik redoks yang kompleks. Kurangnya keterlibatan aktif serta lemahnya integritas akademik dalam proses belajar turut memperparah kondisi ini. Menanggapi permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penerapan model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) yang terintegrasi dengan nilai kejujuran akademik terhadap peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-eksperimen tipe pretest-posttest control group. Instrumen penelitian mencakup tes literasi sains dan lembar observasi kejujuran akademik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol, baik pada skor akhir maupun peningkatan N-Gain, disertai dengan nilai effect size yang besar. Penerapan model PBL yang mengedepankan integritas akademik terbukti mampu memperkuat pemahaman konseptual, membangun sikap ilmiah, dan membentuk perilaku belajar yang etis. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya integrasi nilai karakter dalam pembelajaran sains abad ke-21. Abstract

A bibliometric study provides a comprehensive mapping of a research field’s landscape and developmental trajectory. This article presents a bibliometric analysis of publications on local wisdom (local knowledge/ethnoscience/ethnochemistry) in chemistry education available on the ScienceDirect platform for the period 2014–2024. The initial dataset comprised 703 records; after screening based on predefined inclusion–exclusion criteria, 168 articles remained for analysis. The data analysis was limited to: (1) annual publication trends (number of documents), (2) the most productive authors based on publication counts, and (3) co-occurrence mapping of author keywords using VOSviewer. The results indicate an increase in publications after 2015, with emphasis on ethnoscience/ethnochemistry themes and cultural contexts such as batik as well as environmental practices. The co-occurrence map reveals thematic clusters consistent with the agenda of contextualising chemistry learning. These findings provide an empirical basis for formulating research agendas and developing local-wisdom-based instructional materials.

Abstract

This study aims to map global research trends and directions concerning the integration of local wisdom and sustainable chemistry education from 2014 to 2024 using bibliometric analysis. Data were collected through Publish or Perish (PoP) from Google Scholar using the keywords (“local wisdom” AND “chemistry education” AND “sustainability” AND “bibliometric analysis”). A total of 996 documents were retrieved, and after screening based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 230 articles were analyzed using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix (R). The results reveal that publications related to local wisdom and sustainable chemistry education experienced a fluctuating trend, peaking in 2020 and declining in subsequent years. The co-occurrence mapping identified three main clusters indigenous knowledge, local wisdom, and ethnoscience that are interconnected in forming a conceptual framework for culturally rooted and sustainability-oriented chemistry education. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating local cultural values with green chemistry principles and the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD 2030) agenda to enhance students’ scientific literacy and ecological awareness. This research provides a theoretical and empirical basis for developing chemistry curricula and educational policies that are responsive to socio-cultural contexts and global sustainability challenges.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam mengelola sitasi dan referensi ilmiah melalui pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Zotero. Pelatihan dilaksanakan secara terstruktur dengan pendekatan workshop yang mencakup penyuluhan, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung, diikuti oleh 30 mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Informatika semester 5. Data pretest dan posttest menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada aspek pengetahuan tentang Zotero, efisiensi pengelolaan sitasi, dan akurasi penyusunan referensi. Pengetahuan peserta meningkat dari 40% menjadi 90%, waktu pengelolaan sitasi menurun dari 45 menit menjadi 20 menit, dan akurasi sitasi meningkat dari 70% menjadi 95%. Selain itu, peserta menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dan perubahan perilaku positif dalam penggunaan teknologi akademik, termasuk meningkatnya kepercayaan diri dalam penulisan karya ilmiah. Pelatihan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Zotero mampu memberikan dampak nyata dalam meningkatkan kualitas dan efisiensi penulisan ilmiah mahasiswa. Hasil kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan bagi institusi pendidikan untuk mengintegrasikan pelatihan manajemen referensi dalam kurikulum penulisan ilmiah dan metodologi penelitian.

Abstract

Helminth infections remain one of the most common parasitic diseases affecting children, particularly at the primary school level, where awareness of personal hygiene is generally low. One of the main transmission routes of this infection is through unclean hands. This community service activity at UPT SPF SDN 258 Sakui-Kui aimed to enhance students' understanding of the importance of personal hygiene, specifically by educating them on proper handwashing techniques based on WHO standards. The tools used in this activity included a whiteboard, nail clippers, a camera, a microscope, test tubes, glass slides, cover slips, stirring rods, basins, beakers, petri dishes, test tube racks, and stationery, while the materials used included nail samples from students, water, and salt. The evaluation results indicated that this activity effectively increased students' understanding of personal sanitation by up to 90%, as evidenced by observational evaluations of direct practice. Additionally, students gained knowledge that helminth eggs adhering to nails could cause infections if ingested with food. This educational initiative had a significant impact on shaping students’ personal hygiene behavior, potentially reducing the risk of parasitic infections within the school environment.

Abstract

This blood type education and examination activity aims to raise students' awareness of the importance of knowing their blood type from an early age. The activity was conducted on March 8, 2023, at SDN 137 Caramming, Caramming Village, Bontotiro District, with 28 students and 4 teachers participating. The methods used were lectures and simulations, covering materials on the definition of blood types, the types of blood groups, and the technique of blood type examination. The blood type examination was carried out using an agglutination method with anti-A, anti-B, anti-AB, and anti-D reagents to identify participants’ blood types and Rhesus factor. The results show high levels of enthusiasm among participants, reflected in students' active questioning about different blood types and their characteristics. The examination results indicated a variety of blood types among the participants, including types A, B, AB, and O, all with a positive Rhesus factor. In conclusion, this education and examination activity successfully increased students' knowledge of blood types, which is expected to foster early health awareness.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease with increasing prevalence in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas with limited access to healthcare services. The low level of public awareness regarding early detection and healthy lifestyle practices further exacerbates this condition. This community service activity aimed to conduct blood glucose screening and provide health education for elderly residents in Buhung Bundang Hamlet, Bontotiro District, Bulukumba Regency. The method employed in this program was a participatory-educational approach based on the Participatory Action Research (PAR) model. The activity was carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Supporting tools included a digital glucometer, a simple screening form, and an educational leaflet titled “Beware of Diabetes! Recognize the Symptoms, Prevent Early.” A total of 20 participants, all elderly residents, were involved in the activity. Results showed that 95% of participants had normal blood glucose levels (<140 mg/dL), while 5% (1 participant) was found to have elevated levels (≥200 mg/dL), indicating potential undiagnosed diabetes mellitus. The educational session and the leaflet effectively improved participants' awareness of diabetes risk factors and preventive measures. This program demonstrated that a participatory and educational approach in community service can be an effective preventive intervention to raise health awareness and promote early detection of non-communicable diseases in rural communities. Similar activities are recommended to be conducted regularly, involving local health volunteers as community-based health educators.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan ibu rumah tangga (IRT) di Desa Batu Mila, Kecamatan Maiwa, Kabupaten Enrekang melalui pemanfaatan limbah usus ayam menjadi pupuk organik cair (POC) berbasis bio-konversi mikroba lokal. Permasalahan limbah jeroan ayam yang mencemari lingkungan dan belum dimanfaatkan menjadi latar belakang utama kegiatan ini. Program ini merupakan bagian dari kegiatan hibah pengabdian yang didanai oleh Direktorat Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (DPPM) Kemendiktisaintek, sebagai bentuk kontribusi perguruan tinggi dalam penyelesaian isu lingkungan dan ekonomi masyarakat berbasis ilmu terapan.Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dalam lima tahap, yaitu identifikasi masalah dan sosialisasi, pelatihan teknis pembuatan POC, penerapan mandiri di rumah peserta, monitoring dan evaluasi, serta perencanaan keberlanjutan dan pengembangan jejaring usaha. Sebanyak empat kelompok IRT terlibat aktif dalam proses pelatihan fermentasi limbah usus ayam menggunakan EM4 dan Bacillus subtilis. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta sebesar 56,7% serta keberhasilan produksi POC rata-rata 10 liter per kelompok per siklus. Produk yang dihasilkan memiliki karakteristik fisik dan aroma yang sesuai dengan standar kualitas secara kualitatif, serta telah digunakan pada kebun mini untuk pertanian rumah tangga. Selain aspek teknis, peserta juga dibekali dengan kemampuan manajerial, pencatatan produksi, dan strategi pemasaran digital melalui Shopee dan TikTok Shop.Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak signifikan pada peningkatan kapasitas teknis dan ekonomi IRT, pengurangan limbah organik rumah tangga, serta penguatan kesadaran lingkungan. Model agro-edukatif berbasis kimia terapan ini terbukti efektif sebagai strategi pemberdayaan masyarakat dan dapat direplikasi pada komunitas lain dengan karakteristik limbah serupa
