Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect and potential mechanism with the treatment of nanoparticles from andaliman fruit(Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) As an anti-inflammatory in atherosclerosis through the HSP70 route. Method, andalimanfruit dried in an oven at a temperature of 40ºC and powdered with nano technology using a High Energy Ballmill. This studyused 27 rat samples which were divided into 3 groups. The examination was carried out by routine histopathologicalexamination procedures for the assessment of atherosclerosis and immunohistochemistry HSP70. Assessment of HSP70immunoreactive cells is indicated by the expression of cells that appear reddish brown in the intima and endothelial media ofblood vessels. The result, of the total 27 samples found 8 atherosclerosis (29.7%) and 19 did not experience atherosclerosis(70.3%). The difference in HSP70 expression in the positive control group and the treatment group was statistically testedwith Chi Square and the result was p = 0.007 (p <0.05). Conclusion, the administration of Andaliman fruit nanoparticles hasan effect on the repair of blood vessel endothelium in atherosclerosis which is assessed by an increase in HSP70expression.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is an infectious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pulmonarytuberculosis is one of the ten diseases that cause the largest mortality rate in the world. In addition to the increasing numberof new tuberculosis cases, the high number of cases is also due to pulmonary tuberculosis cases which tend to recur. Todetermine the risk factors for relapse in pulmonary tuberculosis in RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan City. This type of research isdescriptive observational with the research design used is a cross sectional study. The research method used is logisticregression. Medical record data as a research instrument that has been validated is 94 research samples. Age ofrespondents in relapse cases where the most age was >45 years, based on gender the most were men as many as 37people (78.7%), based on smoking habits, based on a history of disease Most of them did not have a history of diabetesmellitus, based on adherence to taking medication, where the most patients were non-adherent to taking medication, basedon work where. Data analysis obtained p<0.05 on factors of age, gender, diabetes mellitus, smoking habits, medicationadherence and work status with a value of p=0.113 (p≥0.05) Factors that have an influence on the incidence of relapsepulmonary tuberculosis are diabetes mellitus, smoking habits and adherence to medication.

Abstract

Metabolic syndrome is accumulation of symptoms that induce cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is the first cause of death and has a high prevalence in the world. According to the study in Finlandia, people with metabolic syndrome will have 3,5 higher risk of cardiovascular disease. In metabolic syndrome the level of triglyceride will increase because of atherogenic diet, less of physical activity, and alcohol consumption. Honey is a sweet liquid that is produced by the bee from nectar and contains antioxidant. Objective : This experiment study the effect of honey for total cholesterol and triglyceride in Wistar male white rat (Rattus norvegicus L) induced by tuak. Method : this was true experimental study with pretest-posttest with control group design. Result : Based on data in hypothesis test from Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test, there were an effect of honey in mean of total cholesterol level and triglyceride that was showed by reduction of total cholesterol level and triglyceride with p<0,05.. Conclusion : there were an effect of honey in total cholesterol level and triglyceride from Wistar male white rat (Rattus norvegicus L) induced with tuak.

Abstract

DM is one of the greatest health problems around the world. Nowdays, we found many studies proved many plants whichcontain antioxidant have a potential as antidiabetic. Antioxidants are able to repair oxidative stress in pancreatic beta cellsthat overcome pancreatic tissues damage. One of the plant that contains rich antioxidant is purple passion fruit ( Passifloraeduils). This study used True Experimental method, with Post –Test Only Control Group Design, which only gave anobservation to a control group after being given a treatment. The sample of this study was white Wister strain male rats(Rattus Norvegisus L). The statistic study of this research used Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney with a significance level ofp > 0,05, because the data were not normally distributed. Pancreatic histopathology improvement in the first treatment groupshowed a non-significant difference compared with positive controlled group (p< 0, 05). Pancreatic histopathologyimprovement in the second treatment group showed a significant different compared with positive controlled group(p< 0, 05). There was an effect of giving purple passion fruit skin decoction (Passiflora eduils) as anti-diabetic to the ratpancreas histopathology that inducted by streptozotosin.

Abstract

Tuberculosis the infectious disease found most commonly in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. Increase of coinfectionTB-HIV is the main cause of Drug Resistance TB in Indonesia. High mortality of TB-HIB in the world and Indonesiawith Increase MDR-TB case. This study used descriptive analytical method with retrospective design. Data processed useFisher Exact Test. The result showed that the relationship of TB-HIV with MDR-TB at Medan in 2019 show p value of 0.026(p<0.05). There is a significant relationship between the co-infection TB-HIV with MDR-TB at Medan in 2019.

Abstract

Malnutrition and tuberculosis are common problems in most developing and underdeveloped countries, including Indonesia. These two problems tend to interact with each other. Significantly lower nutritional status was found in patients with active tuberculosis (TB) compared to healthy people. Malnutrition can lead to the secondary immune deficiency that increases the host's susceptibility to infection. In patients with tuberculosis, malnutrition can cause decreased appetite, malabsorption of nutrients, micronutrient malabsorption, and metabolic changes that are detrimental to the patient. Protein-energy malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies increase the risk of tuberculosis. In malnourished patients, the healing process is relatively longer and the mortality rate is higher than in well-nourished patients. Knowledge of good nutrition and also economic status also affects the severity of tuberculosis. Partner problems that can be identified are as follows: (1) Increasing TB cases from day to day, (2) Low cure rates for TB patients, (3) Finding cases of death due to TB, (4) Finding cases of malnutrition and tuberculosis, Solutions to problems offered to solve the problems faced by partners are as follows: (1) Adequate counseling and debriefing to assist TB patients to achieve high cure rates. (2) Designing the “TBMenu” application program which introduces an android-based application about simple, inexpensive and useful nutrition options for TB patients with middle to lower economies. This application is made based on body weight, the length of treatment the patient has been on. In addition, it can also assess the nutritional status of patients in order to measure and control tuberculosis in the city of Medan. Health education and debriefing about the dangers of TB has been carried out to 20 TB patients at the Exemplary Health Center in Medan Kota District through a zoom meeting due to limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

The use of aspartame is still controversial, because there are studies stating that aspartame is safe to use, and there are studies suggesting aspartame has the potential to damage the liver, but aspartame has been approved by the FDA and BPOM in Indonesia with a daily dose of 50 mg / kg / day, the level of public knowledge we are still low to allow this dose to be overtaken, coupled with the presence of several food products that do not include the content of aspartame, basil leaves have been known to have hepatoprotector effect, but the dosage is still varied, and no researchers have compared curcuma Xanthoriza which is herbal medicine that has been quite well accepted in the community, Objective: to compare the hepatoprotector effect of basil leaf extract with xanthoriza curkuma, Method: Laboratory experimental study with posttest only with control group design. Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups and treated for 30 days. This study analyzed the histopathology of liver using paraffin histotechnics blocks, with HE staining and light microscopy. Analysis of degeneration degree using Kruskal-walis analysis post Hoc Mann-Whitney Results showed an increase in the degree of degeneration in the aspartame group at a dose of 100 mg / kgbb / day (p <0.05) compared to the normal group and treatment. Use of aspartame past the ADI dose damaged the liver, kurkuma and basil leaf extract at a dose of 300 mg / kg has the same protective effect on aspartame-induced rat liver, conclusions: aspartame is toxic for the liver, the use of basil leaf extract at a dose of 300 mg / kg / day or kurkuma xhantoriza extract can reduce the toxicity of aspartame.

Abstract

Pada infeksi tuberkulosis, sitokin mempunyai efek biologis metabolik seperti hipoglikemia, pireksia, inflamasi, dan dalam kadar tinggi dapat merusak sel terutama endotel, bahkan dapat menguntungkan pertumbuhan kuman karena meningkatkan sitoadherens. Pada kadar yang tepat bersifat protektif namun pada kadar yang berlebihan justru berefek patologis  Timbulnya  tuberkulosis  ekstra  paru  ditentukan oleh  keseimbangan  antara  kadar sitokin proinflamasi dan anti-inflamasi, yaitu berupa rasio Interleukin 4 (IL-4) rendah dan meningkatnya produksi IFN-γ. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) membuktikan dan menganalisa peran Interleukin 4 sebagai   faktor   resiko   kejadian   limfadenitis   tuberkulosis, (2) menjelaskan patogenesis terjadinya limfadenitis tuberkulosis  berdasarkan ekspresi Interleukin 4 yang tertampil pada aspirat limfadenitis tuberculosis Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel 25 slide yang diperoleh dari pasien pembengkakan kelenjar getah bening leher dan didiagnosis sebagai limfadenitis tuberkulosis. Dilakukan pewarnaan imunositokimia dengan antigen Interleukin 4. Limfadenitis TB berupa badan-badan  kecil  berbentuk  oval  gelap  di  dalam  kelompokan  makrofag dijumpai 6 kasus positif (67%) dan 3 kasus negatif (33%), sedangkan limfadenitis TB berupa bercak bercak gelap dengan massa amorf eosinofilik 14 kasus positif (88%) dan 2 kasus negatif (12%). Dari analisa data memiliki nilai yang bermakna. Tampilan IL-4 pada badan- badan kecil oval berwarna gelap di dalam kelompokan beberapa makrofag dan bercak-bercak gelap dengan massa amorf eosinofilik merupakan proses imunologi terhadap bakteri basil yang masuk kedalam tubuh manusia dan dapat dipakai sebagai petanda faktor resiko kejadian limfadenitis tuberkulosis. Kata kunci: Interleukin-4, aspirat limfadenitis, faktor resiko, tuberkulosis ekstra paru

Abstract

Tujuan jangka panjang penelitian adalah untuk (1) membuktikan dan menganalisa potensi antikanker dari ekstrak etanol buah legundi (V. trifolia) pada tikus putih yang diinduksi benzoalphapyrene, (2) membuktikan adanya hubungan antara molekul protein p53 dengan kejadian sel kanker kulit, (3) membuktikan dan menjelaskan patogenesis terjadinya kanker kulit dengan melihat ekspresi protein p53 yang diduga kuat mengalami mutasi dan kerusakan gen.Target khusus yang ingin dicapai dari penelitian ini adalah memperoleh data yang valid dan akurat tentang potensi ekstrak buah legundi (V. trifolia) sebagai antikanker berdasarkan pemeriksaan biomolekuler protein p53 pada tikus putih yang diinduksi benzoalphapyrene.Metode yang dipakai adalah dengan menggunakan sampel 25 blok jaringan tumor kulit dari tikus putih jantan jenis Wistar yang dibagi atas 5 kelompok, yaitu (1) blok parafin K1 = blok histologi kelompok kontrol negatif yang diambil dari jaringan kulit tikus normal (tikus hanya diberi diet standar tanpa induksi benzoalphapyrene), (2) blok parafin K2 = blok histologi kelompok kontrol positif (tikus diberi diet standar, diinduksi benzoalphapyrene pada lapisan subkutan, setelah timbul massa tumor tidak diberi ekstrak buah legundi, dan diterminasi pada minggu ke-3 untuk melihat jenis tumor kulit secara mikroskopik), (3) blok parafin P1 = blok histologi perlakuan 1 (tikus diberi diet standar, diinduksi benzoalphapyrene pada lapisan subkutan bersamaan dengan pemberian ekstrak buah legundi0,5g/kgBB/hari selama 2 minggu secara oral), (4) blok parafin P2 = blok histologi perlakuan 2 (diberi diet standar, diinduksi benzoalphapyrene pada lapisan subkutan, setelah timbul massa tumor diberi ekstrak buah legundi0,5g/kgBB/hari selama 2 minggu secara oral), (5) blok parafin P3 = blok histologi perlakuan 3 (diberi diet standar, diinduksi benzoalphapyrene pada lapisan subkutan, setelah timbul massa tumor diberi ekstrak buah legundi1g/kgBB/hari selama 2 minggu secara oral).Hasil penelitian didapatkan 3 slide (60%) dari kelompok kontrol yang diinduksi benzoalphyrene adalah tumor ganas (non keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma), 1 slide (20%) adalah lesi atipik, dan 1 slide (20%) adalah lesi jinak. Dengan menggunakan pewarnaan imunohistokimia p53 didapatkan bahwa 2 tumor ganas menunjukkan ekspresi protein p53 kuat sedangkan 1 tumor ganas menunjukkan ekspresi sedang. Pada sel atipik menunjukkan ekspresi lemah sedangkan lesi jinak tidak menunjukkan ekspresi protein p53.

Abstract

Penghambat Aktifitas Proliferasi Sel dan Perubahan Histopatologi Epitelial Jaringan Paru dengan Pemberian Ekstrak Buah Pare ( Momordica Charantia )                                                   Abstrak: Indonesia  merupakan  negara  tropis  yang  mempunyai  dua  iklim,  yaitu musim panas dan musim hujan. Hal ini menyebabkan perkembangan nyamuk di Indonesia  semakin  meningkat,  terutama  selama  musim  pancaroba. Hal ini dimanfaatkan oleh produsen obat nyamuk terutama obat nyamuk bakar oleh karena daya beli masyarakat yang kurang. Padahal obat nyamuk jenis ini sangat berbahaya bagi kesehatan paru. Banyak tanaman herbal yang sudah diteliti untuk kesehatan manusia, salah satunya adalah tanaman pare yang memiliki kandungan antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh  pemberian  ekstrak buah pare (Momordica charantia) terhadap aktifitas proliferasi sel dan perubahan histopatologi epitelial jaringan paru tikus Wistar yang diinduksi obat nyamuk bakar. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua perlakuan yaitu kelompok kontrol dan kelompok yang dipapar asap obat nyamuk selama 6 jam perhari. Nekropsi untuk pengambilan sampel dilakukan setelah 1 bulan perlakuan pada tikus dan dibuat sediaan histopatologi. Analisis berupa nekrosis, perdarahan, peradangan dan kongesti yang dilakukan dengan pengamatan histopatologi jaringan dibawah mikroskop dengan pembesaran 100x dan 400x pada empat lapangan pandang. Data hasil penelitian ditabulasi, diskoring,dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji non parametrik Kruskal-Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nyata antara skor nekrosis, perdarahan, peradangan dan kongesti antara kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbaikan pada gambaran histopatologi parenkim paru.Kata kunci: aktifitas proliferasi sel, ekstrak buah pare,, epithelial jaringan paru, histopatologi, obat nyamuk bakar. The Effect of Giving Pare Extract (momordica charantia) to Cell Proliferation Activity and Epistastial Histopathological Changes of Wistar Lung Tissue Abstract: Indonesia is a tropical country that has two climates, namely summer and rainy season. This causes the development of mosquitoes in Indonesia is increasing, especially during the transition season. It is utilized by mosquito repellent manufacturers, especially mosquito coils, because of the poor people's purchasing power. Though this type of mosquito repellent is very dangerous for lung health. Many herbs that have been studied for human health, one of them is a pare that has antioxidant content. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving pare extract (Momordica charantia) to cell proliferation activity and epistastial histopathological changes of Wistar lung tissue. This study consisted of two treatments, namely control group and the group that exposed the smoke of mosquito coil exposed for 6 hours per day. Necropsy for sampling was performed after 1 month of treatment in mice. Sample organ taken in the right and left lung for histopathology making process. Analysis of necrosis, bleeding, inflammation and congestion is done by histopathological observation of tissue under a microscope with 400x and 1000x magnification with four field of view. The research data was tabulated, diskored, and analyzed using non parametric Kruskal-Wallis test. The results showed that there were significant differences between necrosis score, bleeding, inflammation and congestion between treatment group and control group. It can be concluded that there are improvements in the histopathology of the pulmonary parenchyma.Keyword: cell proliferative activity, histopathology, pulmonary tissue epithelial, smoke of mosquito coil.
