Abstract

Various studies showed that there are some points which affect students’ achievement; one of them is mathematics self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is feeling, trust, and confidence of affective behavior of students toward their ability. In learning process, the students find obstacles in solving their problem such as relating one representation to another representation. Previous studies indicated that students’ achievement of mathematical representation ability have obstacles because the students did not understand relationship between concepts, ideas, and materials to be represented. The other studies claimed that the higher students’ self-efficacy, the higher mathematical multiple representation ability (MMRA). It means that self-efficacy has positive correlation with mathematic ability. This article will discuss about role of mathematics self-efficacy toward ability achievement of mathematical multiple representation ability (MMRA) in solving mathematics problem in order to increase students’ achievement.

Abstract

Teacher communication plays an important role in the effectiveness of mathematics learning, especially in helping students understand abstract concepts. This study aims to analyze the role of teacher communication in improving students' understanding and motivation in mathematics learning. The method used is a literature review by analyzing various studies that discuss teacher communication in the context of mathematics education. The results of the study show that effective communication allows teachers to create an inclusive learning environment, increase student interaction, and build higher learning motivation. Verbal and nonverbal communication, the use of technology in teaching, and interpersonal communication strategies have been proven to have a positive impact on students' understanding of concepts and participation in learning. The implications of these findings emphasize the importance of communication training for mathematics teachers to optimize interaction with students. The recommendations given include the development of technology-based communication strategies, the application of more interactive communication methods, and the improvement of teachers' communication skills through continuous training.

Abstract

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in mathematics learning at the high school (SMA) level is now an important innovation in the world of education. AI brings a number of benefits such as the ability to personalize the learning process, increase efficiency, and provide broad and fast access to learning materials. However, its utilization is inseparable from various challenges. This study aims to identify and analyze the problems of the use of AI in high school mathematics learning systematically through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA approach to 15 selected scientific articles. The results of the study show that the use of AI raises problems at various levels, especially in students who experience a decrease in critical thinking skills, creativity, and learning independence due to dependence on technology and an increasing tendency to plagiarism and procrastination. Meanwhile, from the side of teachers and educational institutions, obstacles were found in the form of low digital skills, limited training, lack of infrastructure, and the absence of a curriculum that accommodates the use of AI to the maximum. Although AI is well received by students, its use in schools is still very limited, reflecting a gap between potential and implementation. In addition, ethical aspects, data privacy, and changes in the role of teachers are important concerns. Therefore, collaboration across teachers, educational institutions, policy makers, and parents is needed to ensure the use of AI that is wise, ethical, and able to support the development of students' character and thinking abilities optimally.

Abstract

The ability to think logically and draw conclusions using logic is known as mathematical reasoning. Students understand how to use mathematical reasoning to manipulate formulas and properties, construct proofs, and explain ideas in mathematical statements. Answering HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions improves mathematical reasoning. HOTS questions are higher-order thinking skills questions that require a reasoning process to be demonstrated when knowledge and skills are applied in new or more complex contexts. The purpose of this research was to determine the results of an analysis of HOTS type questions that could aid students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This study takes a qualitative approach, with content analysis serving as the descriptive research method. The HOTS type of question was found in 9 of the 40 Madrasah Exam questions examined. HOTS questions are those that assist students in developing their mathematical reasoning skills. Keywords: Mathematical Reasoning Ability, HOTS Type Questions, Madrasah Exam Questions.

Abstract

Abstract

The difficulty of students understanding algebra material is a very important problem to overcome. This is because algebra material is so important which is very useful in every science, one of which is economics. To find out the practicality of mathematics learning media in algebra material based on the PMRI approach is the aim of this research. The methodology in this research is development research using the Tessmer method. In the Tessmer method, there are two research procedures, namely, the preliminary (preparation) stage and the formative evaluation stage. Practicality lies in the formative evaluation stage in the small group section. At the small group stage, prototype II was tested on five class VII middle school students. The data collection technique in this research is a student response questionnaire and documents. Based on the results of the student response questionnaire, an average score percentage of 88,575 % was obtained, which means it falls within the very practical criteria. Apart from that, it is also strengthened by the results of researchers' observations which show that students can use mathematics learning media on PMRI-based algebra material easily and well.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of gamification in STEM education by focusing on student motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. Gamification, or the use of game elements in non-game contexts, is applied in STEM education to enhance more engaging and interactive learning experiences. The literature review is carried out in a narrative manner by analyzing relevant research in the last 10 years obtained from various databases, such as Google Scholar and IEEE Xplore. The results of the study show that gamification elements, such as leaderboards, points, and badges, are effective in increasing student motivation and engagement, especially in subjects that tend to be difficult. In addition, gamification plays an important role in the formation of collaborative skills through activities such as "escape rooms" and gamification-based project simulations. However, the implementation of gamification is faced with challenges, such as adaptation to the institutional context and the need for adequate design to sustain long-term impacts. This review recommends the implementation of planned gamification, contextual adjustments, and continuous evaluation to improve the effectiveness of gamification in STEM education. Thus, the results of this study provide guidance for educators in integrating gamification as a relevant and adaptive learning strategy in the modern education era.
