Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease mostly caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. There are various species of Mycobacterium, including Mycobacterium africanum, Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium leprae, known as Acid Resistant Bacteria (BTA). The recovery or success of this treatment is determined by several factors, especially adherence to taking medication. Family support greatly supports the successful treatment of pulmonary TB patients by always reminding sufferers to take medicine, deep understanding of patients who are sick and encouraging them to remain diligent in treatment. This study used a purposive sample technique with a cross-sectional study design. The sample size in this study was 76 people. The results of the statistical test using the chi-square test obtained a p-value = 0.033 (Knowledge on Medication Compliance), p-value = 0.002 (Family Support with Medication Adherence). There is a relationship between Knowledge and Family Support with Compliance with Taking Medication for TB Patients at Kudungga Hospital.

Abstract

One of the obstacles to the treatment of tuberculosis (TB) patients is the sideeffects of anti-tuberculosis drugs (ATDs) which cause patients to be reluctant to continue the medication. The elderly experience various physical and physiological changes in the bodysystem, including susceptibility to drug side effects, decreased knowledge and memory, resulting in non-compliance with taking the medication. This study aims to determine therelationship between ATDs side effects and compliance with taking medication for elderlypatients at the Tanjung Selor Health Center, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan Province. This study used a quantitative cross-sectional approach. The sample was taken by totalpopulation, namely elderly tuberculosis patients undergoing tuberculosis treatment as many as30 respondents. The research instrument was a questionnaire of drug side effects and ATDscompliance. Statistical test used Fisher's Exact. The results showed that most patients (76.7%)complained of OAT side effects and the rest without OAT side effects (23.3%). Treatmentcompliance was 20% compliant, and 80% were non-compliant. Fisher's Exact statistical testobtained p-value = 0.016 (< α = 0.05). It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between OAT side effects and treatment compliance in elderly patients with tuberculosis. Recommendations for health workers to give special attention to elderly patients with medication monitoring and compliance motivation. Future researchers should identify the involvement of family and health workers to monitor the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs.

Abstract

High levels of anxiety or depression during pregnancy can pose risks such as stunted fetal growth and premature birth. Music is believed to be used for relaxation, stress relief and anxiety reduction because music is an organized auditory stimulus consisting of melody, rhythm, harmony, shape and style. Aromatherapy is also a non-pharmacological treatment that uses essential oils and stimulates the olfactory system to reduce stress and create a sense of calm. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of classical music therapy and aromatherapy candles on the anxiety level of third trimester pregnant women. This research method is a pre-experimental quantitative type. The design used in this study was one group pretest posttest, the population in this study were third trimester pregnant women in the Karangan Health Center area. The sampling technique was simple random sampling of 44 third trimester pregnant women. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the level of anxiety before the intervention experienced by most of the respondents was moderate anxiety in the number of 21 respondents (47.7%) and the level of anxiety after the intervention was mostly with mild anxiety in the number of 20 respondents (45.5%). The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was an effect of classical music therapy and lavender aromatherapy candles on reducing the anxiety level of third-trimester pregnant women with a result (p=0.000) smaller than (<0.05). The anxiety level score in the pre-test measurement is higher than the post-test measurement, indicated by the mean value in the pretest (23.57) higher than the posttest (19.16) which means there is a decrease in the anxiety level score in the respondents before and after intervention.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between chemotherapy frequency and albumin levels and weight loss in breast cancer patients. The research was conducted in September 2023. There were 33 respondents. The instruments used are digital scales and medical records. Data analysis used the chi-square test (α<0.050). The results of the study showed that there was no relationship between the frequency of chemotherapy and albumin levels (p=0.084) and there was a relationship between the frequency of chemotherapy and weight loss (p=0.030) with a fairly strong relationship (r=0.441).

Abstract

Nutrition is a crucial element in food that plays a vital role in ensuring an individual's growth and development. Malnutrition is a common nutritional problem that affects children below the age of five. It occurs when the body lacks or has an imbalance of vital nutrients necessary for growth, cognitive development, and overall well-being. The preliminary study conducted at the Teratak Village Community Health Center found that some toddlers had a body weight that was below the recommended weight according to the age indicator in the KMS. The study had a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-and-post-test approach. A total of 20 toddlers aged between 24 to 60 months who were below the yellow line (BGK) and the red line (BGM) on the KMS graph were sampled during the weighing period between October 2022 – March 2023. The paired sample t-test method was used to analyze the changes in body weight. The study found that 16 toddlers experienced weight gain while two others did not show any increase in weight after the intervention. The statistical test resulted in a p-value of 0.000 (< α = 0.05), demonstrating that providing Moringa leaf tofu nuggets had a significant effect on the weight gain of toddlers. Providing additional food with tofu nuggets and Moringa leaves can increase toddlers' weight, with 50 grams of nuggets containing an additional protein intake of 5.65 grams.
