Abstract

Pindang, as one of Bali’s strategic fishery commodities, has yet to be supported by proper architectural facilities. Current production areas are often located within residential neighborhoods, leading to pollution and limited accessibility. The existing buildings are generally simple, unsanitary, and lack efficient spatial organization in accordance with hygienic workflow standards. Therefore, the establishment of the Pindang Center in Sudimara Village, Tabanan, with a community-centered sustainability concept, aims to address these issues and support the development and continuity of the pindang industry, which represents a traditional fish preservation technique. The integration of this center with educational tourism serves to introduce traditional fish preservation methods and promote the benefits of fish consumption to the public—an effort to help address low fish consumption rates in the community. The research methodology includes data collection methods (literature review, field observation, interviews, and precedent studies), data presentation methods (descriptive narratives, tables, and visual documentation), and analytical methods (comparative analysis, general analysis, and synthesis). The research results in a design concept encompassing outdoor spatial planning, pindang processing facilities, and supporting utilities, placing pindang production activities at the core of architectural considerations in line with the fundamental concept of community-centered sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract

The Special Needs Child Development Group is an educational service center for children with autism located in the PLA (Autism Service Center) Denpasar City. In the learning process, children with autism have special characteristics and characteristics in observing and responding to something and tend to capture information or learn faster by using visualization. One of the interesting ways to improve children's storytelling skills is to provide picture books. Because picture books have a visualization effect that can stimulate the eyes to enjoy the picture and understand the text that explains the picture. There are several important problems regarding visual media which consist of the need for alternative visual media products to train children's sensory which is still limited to seeing sensory stimuli, media that can train other sensory types such as audio, taste, and touch, Adjustment of Visual Media Products to psychological growth and development are needed. autistic children and locality characteristics of the types of visual media objects that are used as teaching materials do not characterize the regional environment in Indonesia because some of the visual media come from abroad. Visual media products for learning media can be in the form of books and types of interactive games with the aim of providing cognitive and motoric impact, with content that will be adapted to the psychological condition of the child, of course, by highlighting elements of local characteristics in the object design to facilitate the learning process for children with autism. In developing visual media products that are intended as learning media for autistic children, the method used is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) which is a learning model based on which each phase of the implementation process produces learning stages designed with specific objectives The sustainability aspect of this PKM program is the development of advanced visual media products and the design of special facilities for autistic children. So that gradually the needs and access to better education can be obtained by all children with special needs on a city and regional scale.

Abstract

Educational facilities in Karangasem Regency face significant risks from environmental factors such as seismic activity, unstable soils, and extreme weather, which contribute to structural damage. This study aims to assess the extent of building damage in these facilities and understand its relationship with surrounding environmental conditions to inform risk mitigation strategies. A comprehensive method was employed, combining field surveys, structural inspections, and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping. Damage levels were classified into minor, moderate, severe, and total destruction, based on structural and non-structural indicators. Disaster risk, including potential strong winds, potential floods, potential landslides, potential droughts, and potential earthquakes, were integrated to identify patterns and correlations with building damage. The findings revealed that 16.7% and 7.7% of facilities experienced light damage and moderate damage respectively, predominantly in areas with high winds, landslides, and earthquakes potential. Additionally, topographical challenges, such as slope instability, were identified as major contributors to damage severity. GIS analysis highlighted clusters of high-risk zones, underscoring the spatial relationship between environmental conditions and damage distribution. The study concludes that the integration of structural assessments with environmental analysis provides a robust framework for evaluating building vulnerabilities. Recommendations include the adoption of disaster-resistant construction materials, enhanced maintenance protocols, and strategic land-use planning. These measures are essential for mitigating risks and ensuring the safety and sustainability of educational facilities in Karangasem Regency. This research offers valuable insights into disaster risk management and contributes to developing resilient infrastructure in hazard-prone regions.

Abstract

Outdoor spaces for persons with physical disabilities are often designed merely to satisfy minimum accessibility standards, without providing opportunities for participation or equal spatial experience. Meanwhile, Denpasar records 623 individuals with physical disabilities who require inclusive and sustainable rehabilitation facilities. This study aims to identify and implement the concept of equality in the design of outdoor areas for disability service facilities in Denpasar as a foundation for creating an inclusive and equitable environment. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, site observation, and comparative study of disability service facilities. The findings indicate that the implementation of the equality concept can be realized through three key aspects: equal access and movement provided by a single circulation route accessible for wheelchairs, equal activity and independence facilitated by hydroponic gardens and therapeutic pools that can be used without assistance, and equal social relations supported by communal activity spaces that encourage interaction between disabled and non-disabled users. These results demonstrate that the equality concept can serve as a humanistic design approach for outdoor spaces, enhancing independence and social engagement among people with physical disabilities.

Abstract

Celuk Village in Gianyar Regency, Bali, has evolved organically into a prominent silver craftsmanship corridor, forming a unique creative economy ecosystem where production workshops, commercial galleries, and tourist interaction spaces coexist within an interconnected spatial hierarchy. This study employs a spatial quantitative approach to analyse distribution patterns, spatial relationships, and functional hierarchies among 70 silver workshops and galleries across a defined 6-month research period. Spatial point data were collected through GPS-based field surveys, validated with positional accuracy tolerance ≤ 3 m, and processed using QGIS software to perform Point Pattern Analysis (PPA) and Kernel Density Estimation (KDE). The analysis identifies clustering tendencies and spatial density hierarchies, revealing a linear aggregation pattern concentrated along the primary west–east corridor connecting Gianyar and Denpasar. Statistical spatial correlation was measured using Nearest Neighbour Index (NNI = 0.69), indicating clustered distribution, supported by strong positive spatial autocorrelation (Moran’s I = +0.89, p < 0.05), confirming significant spatial dependence between neighbouring business units. To clarify the term functional mapping, field observations incorporated structured indicators of Building Function (production, exhibition, mixed use), Architectural Typology (traditional workshop, modern gallery, hybrid façade, adaptive building), and Activity Intensity Level (frequency of visible workers, visitor presence, façade permeability, sidewalk spill-out, and temporal peak markers). The findings demonstrate that spatial configuration in Celuk is shaped not only by economic efficiency and proximity, but also by symbolic cultural markers—such as temples and traditional ornaments—that reinforce spatial identity and distinguish the district from purely commercial corridors. While clustering supports collaborative resource sharing and visibility, the study also detects spatial imbalance between the main spine and peripheral lanes, signalling emerging commercial pressure and declining activity on secondary routes. For sustainable creative district growth, a scale-sensitive integrated spatial planning framework is recommended, applying thematic production–display–tourism zoning supported by community-based governance to maintain economic–cultural balance, walkability, and cultural authenticity. This research contributes empirical spatial metrics and a replicable methodological structure for developing culture-based creative districts in Bali and Indonesia.
