Abstract

Interreligious relations require wisdom to foster social harmony. Interfaith dialogue is an essential effort in achieving this goal. This study extends previous discourses by elaborating on the concept of fiqh al-harmony (jurisprudence of harmony) as developed by Shaykh Wasil, analyzed through Jasser Auda’s framework of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. Employing a qualitative, library-based method with both conceptual and historical approaches, this research explores the contributions of Shaykh Wasil, a 12th-century Persian scholar who came to Kediri at the invitation of King Jayabaya. Through his work Musarar, he promoted Islam using a harmony-based approach. When analyzed through Auda’s six features of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, Shaykh Wasil’s jurisprudence of harmony reveals significant relevance: cognitive nature classifies it within political jurisprudence (fiqh al-siyāsah); wholeness emphasizes conflict resolution through a comprehensive framework; openness integrates jurisprudence with Sufism, positive law, and the sociology of law; interrelated hierarchy identifies his harmonious da‘wah strategy as a manifestation of both maqāṣid al-ummah and maqāṣid al-insāniyyah; multi-dimensionality fosters common ground in interreligious conflict; and purposefulness demonstrates that his ultimate aim was to promote Islam as a mercy for all creation. This model of fiqh emphasizes tolerance, honesty, and rationality as essential dimensions of religious life. Keywords: Jurisprudence of harmony; Jasser Auda; Maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah; Shaykh Wasil; Religious tolerance

Abstract

Technological advancements hold immense potential for transforming teaching and learning, yet many students struggle to effectively harness digital tools, especially in creative writing. Assemblr EDU (edu.assemblrworld.com), an application that leverages 3D and Augmented Reality (AR) technology, enables users to craft interactive and engaging educational content. Despite its availability as a free resource, a persistent gap in students’ digital literacy prevents them from fully exploiting tools like assemblr EDU for academic purposes. This study explores how assemblr EDU can spark interest in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learning and elevate learning outcomes. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research involved 38 university students and found that assemblr EDU significantly enhances the development of captivating, interactive learning materials. Students reported that visualizing characters and story elements through the platform made creative writing more enjoyable, effectively bridging the digital literacy divide while cultivating an immersive and motivating learning environment. Ultimately, this approach markedly improves students’ creative writing abilities and overall EFL proficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perspectives of Madurese scholars on the application of collective ijtihad (ijtihad jama’i) as a method for determining halal product fatwas. This method is viewed as an effective solution to address the complexity of contemporary issues that cannot be resolved individually. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study collected data through in-depth interviews with scholars from Bangkalan, such as Kiai Ma’ruf Khozin and Kiai Nur Hasyim, complemented by observation and documentation techniques. The findings reveal that Madurese scholars strongly support the implementation of collective ijtihad in halal product fatwa issuance, as it enhances the accuracy of rulings, reinforces their legitimacy, and preserves the values of maq??id al-shar?‘ah. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, including limited access to contemporary references and the need to strengthen scholarly capacity. The study recommends optimizing the role of bahtsul masail forums, enhancing collaboration among scholars, academics, and halal certification institutions, and expanding the practice of collective ijtihad to the district level. These findings are expected to contribute significantly to strengthening collective-based halal fatwa determination methods amidst the growing demands of the halal industry in Indonesia   [Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pandangan ulama Madura terhadap penggunaan ijtihad jama’i sebagai metode penetapan fatwa produk halal.

Abstract

This research was conducted to provide an overview of the radical Islamic movement that followed the WTC tragedy. This movement had a tremendous impact on Indonesia as a country with a majority Muslim population. The impact of this radical movement has made Islam's image less good in the eyes of the world and it is considered a terrorist who preaches violence. It is hoped that this research will be able to provide an overview of the radical movement carried out by ISIS which has had an impact on the worldview of Muslims in Indonesia. This research with a qualitative descriptive design uses library research by looking for references from books and journals that are relevant to contemporary Islamic radical movements. The results of this research show that ISIS is part of the dark history of Islam which grew and grew out of political-based radicalism as a continuation of the violent and intolerant ideology of neo-khawarijism. Therefore, it is necessary to have a genuine understanding of Islam so that radical movements that are detrimental to Islam will no longer emerge in Indonesia or in the world.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis methods on novels translated from English into Indonesian. This study was conducted to investigate the type of translation deviation at the syntactic level, in the question sentences used in dialogue of Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse novel. The source data on the study was taken from Eclipse novel as the source text and Gerhana novel as the target text. The novel has a good translation result, but there are some grammatical deviations when translated into the target text. Translation deviations by using Newmark’s theory. The results of the study showed that (1) translation deviations found in question sentences that are syntactic, lexical, and word arrangement deviations; (2) the causes of such deviations are (1) the presence of untranslated words, grammatical errors, and the use of individual languages; (3) the impact of these deviations is that the sentence becomes ungrammatical, the sentence is not commensurate, there is interference in Indonesian, the text is impolite, the text is ambiguous, and the text is unclear. In general, it can be concluded that the occurrence of deviations at this syntactic level has more influence on the grammatical aspect due to the difference in sentence structure in two different languages. Translators strive to translate the text so that it is easily understood by the reader and adapted to the target reader so that many grammatical aspects are not translated.
