Abstract

Musik adalah hiburan yang digemari hampir semua orang, untuk itu musik banyak dicari. Harga yang mahal dan akses yang sulit untuk mendapatkan musik secara legal membuat pembajakan marak terjadi, bahkan menjadi kebiasaan masyarakat yang sulit untuk diubah dengan cepat. Layanan Over-The-Top(OTT) streaming audio/video hadir sebagai alternatif lain untuk memerangi kebiasaan konsumsi musik secara ilegal. Harga yang murah, user friendly, kuantitas musik yang lengkap, dan kualitas musik yang baik menjadi faktor mengapa layanan ini banyak digandrungi dan populer sekarang. Hadirnya layanan ini berdampak untuk penurunan jumlah konsumen musik ilegal dan berpotensi untuk menurunkan tingkat pembajakan secara signifikan.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship among reading app reviews, trying apps, attitude and intention to use the communication apps. Attitude towards apps and intention to use apps change as a result of app reviews and trials. An experiment was conducted in a rural area testing twelve communication apps with 80 participants who were not communication app users. The relationship of the variables was analyzed using statistical regression. This study found that treatments do not affect attitude or intention to use. Meanwhile, significantly, attitude can moderately predict intention to use. Intention to use communication apps was not related to app reviews and trials but related to participants' attitudes. The findings suggest that this experiment did not use an appropriate method to confirm theoretical modelling of the TAM, TRA and TPB. Future research involving other variables (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use etc.) is needed to reveal comprehensive modelling to predict the intention to use.  Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan membaca review aplikasi, mencoba aplikasi, sikap, dan niat menggunakan aplikasi komunikasi. Sikap terhadap aplikasi dan niat menggunakan aplikasi berubah sebagai hasil dari review dan mencoba aplikasi. Eksperimen dilakukan di wilayah perdesaan untuk menguji dua belas aplikasi komunikasi dengan 80 partisipan yang bukan pengguna aplikasi komunikasi. Hubungan antarvariabel dianalisis menggunakan regresi statistik. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan perlakuan pada eksperimen tidak memengaruhi sikap maupun niat menggunakan aplikasi. Namun, sikap dapat memprediksi niat menggunakan aplikasi pada level moderat. Niat menggunakan aplikasi komunikasi tidak terhubung dengan review dan mencoba aplikasi tetapi terhubung dengan sikap partisipan. Hasil temuan menunjukkan eksperimen ini tidak cocok untuk mengonfrmasi model teori TAM, TRA, dan TPB. Penelitian selanjutnya yang melibatkan variabel lain (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, dsb) diperlukan untuk membuat model komprehensif yang dapat memprediksi niat menggunakan aplikasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi: 1) motif individu dalam aktivitas Binge Watching (BW) yang membedakannya dengan menonton televisi 2) bagaimana teknologi memotivasi individu dalam praktik BW pada konteks Indonesia; 3) bagaimana individu mengevaluasi aktivitas mereka menonton binge. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa informan memiliki motif BW untuk memperbaiki suasana hati, mengalihkan perhatian, sebagai hiburan, kebiasaan, relaksasi, yang dibahas dalam penelitian Uses and Gratifications (U&G) mengenai motif khalayak dalam menonton televisi. Selain itu, ditemukan beberapa motif BW lain seperti menamatkan cerita, tidak mau ketinggalan mendapatkan informasi, terlibat lebih ke dalam cerita. Namun dalam penelitian ini ditemukan satu motif yang belum pernah dibahas dalam penelitian lain, yaitu inspirasi proyek fiksi. Kepraktisan dari sisi teknologi juga berperan dalam aktivitas BW, yang meskipun disadari oleh pengguna memiliki dampak buruk, namun dirasa memiliki manfaat lebih besar yang tidak dapat diabaikan.

Abstract

Abstract As a political communicator, members of the DPR RI need to realize good political communication for the sake of the continuation of democracy. The Indonesian Parliament as a political actor that has an important role in the sustainability of democracy needs to manage their political communication from the front stage, back stage, and impression management aspects according to Goffman's theory as well as possible. In this study, it was examined how the political communication of the Indonesian Parliament in revising Law No. 32 of 2002 using the Goffman drama theory. The method used in this research is qualitative research using observation data collection techniques to three groups of the Republic of Indonesia DPR. From this dramaturgical analysis the researchers found that DPR groups had three front stages and one backstage each. Also found was a shadowing stage faced by the DPR in carrying out political communication activities. Political communication behavior carried out at the front stage is more formal and prioritizes the interests of the community. As is the case at the back stage, political communication is more relaxed and personal and group interests emerge. Key words: Dramaturgy, Legislative Dramaturgy, Indonesian Parliament Dramaturgy Abstrak Sebagai komunikator politik, anggota DPR RI perlu mewujudkan komunikasi politik yang baik demi kelangsungan demokrasi. DPR RI sebagai aktor politik yang memiliki peran penting dalam keberlangsungan demokrasi perlu mengelola komunikasi politik mereka dari aspek front stage, back stage, serta impression management sesuai dengan teori Goffman sebaik mungkin. Dalam penelitian ini diteliti bagaimana komunikasi politik DPR RI dalam melakukan revisi UU No. 32 tahun 2002 dengan menggunakan teori dramatugri Goffman. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian kualitatif menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi kepada tiga kelompok DPR RI. Dari analisis dramaturgi ini peneliti menemukan temuan bahwa kelompok-kelompok DPR memiliki masing-masing tiga pangung depan dan satu panggung belakang. Ditemukan juga panggung bayangan yang dihadapi oleh DPR dalam menjalankan kegiatan komunikasi politik. Perilaku komunikasi politik yang dilakukan pada front stage bersifat lebih formal dan mengutamakan kepentingan masyarakat. Lain halnya dengan yang dilakukan pada back stage, komunikasi politik bersifat lebih santai dan muncul kepentingan-kepentingan pribadi maupun kelompok. Abstract

The boundary conflict of Indonesia and Malaysia always related with the differences in perceptions, understanding and responses. Therefore, by using the concept of communicate conflict from Krauss and Morella, this study analyzes the new media and social media-based online discussion forums to find the border issue which often becomes discourse. By using nethnography, texts discourse that causes differences in perception, understanding, and construction is analyzed and then compared with the findings of the actual state of border areas with ethnographic methods. Combined nethnographic and ethnographic methods in collecting, processing, analyzing and discussing the data potential conflict border areas of Indonesia and Malaysia are expected to find and decipher the Indonesia-Malaysia conflict truth. This research shows that online discussion forum users do not understand the context of boundary, while the local community shows that the harmonization of interaction and communication. Conflict in the online community forum is an extension Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral conflict has actually been completed.

Abstract

Political candidates are actively using Facebook's social media as a political communication strategy, for which there is social interaction and interactive dialogues between the candidates and the public in  virtual space, where this is needed to influence public involvement in achieving their political missions. Therefore, the objective of this study is to describe the influence of the use of social media Facebook as a political communication strategy on the electability, effectiveness, and popularity of the candidates of the DPR RI members in 2019 legislative elections. The research used theories and concepts of political communication and the use of social media in political communication, using quantitative research methods and surveys of 30 Facebook user respondents and voters in the 2019 legislative elections. The results showed there was an impact of Facebook utilization on the electability by  16%, on effectiveness by  39.7%, and on the popularity of prospective members of the DPR RI in the 2019 legislative elections by  17.3%. Users can actively collect information and opinions using this site as a place of communication between themselves with the politicians or with fellow supporters. However, the use of Facebook is not the only effective political communication strategy, traditional media such as television, radio, billboards, stickers are still effective to reach the public who do not always use social media.

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic as the background of the Work From Home (WFH) policy is believed to have increased major participation in communication technology and changed communication patterns. The research aims to know the implementation of WFH during the pandemic, the use of communication technology, the communication patterns during WFH have changed from face to face to Computer Mediated Communication (CMC), and the important factors for the success of WFH. A qualitative method with a descriptive case study approach and a semi-structured interview technique are used. The theory is media richness theory. The results showed that WFH offered advantages and disadvantages for employees and organizations. WFH featured various types of technology/media, from lean to rich. Communication technology plays an important role during WFH which causes changes in communication patterns. Different technologies/media vary in its ability to reproduce messages. During WFH, CMC creates a different climate than face to face communication, because CMC is not as rich as face to face communication. In implementing WFH, even after the pandemic, it is necessary to pay attention to the needs of organizations and employees and the main factors of successful WFH implementation so that WFH can be as effective as working in an office.

Abstract

Instagram as a social media network has produced influencers who are influential in disseminating information and messages digitally. Influencers are considered capable of impacting their followers through photo uploads and electronic word of mouth (EWoM) which they post on their social media feeds. This study was conducted qualitatively with a literature review approach and indirect interviews with influencers and their followers. The results show that the role of influencers has an impact on followers based on what they upload and what they write about on Instagram.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Media sosial Instagram telah melahirkan para influencer yang berpengaruh dalam penyebaran informasi dan pesan secara digital. Influencer dinilai mampu memberikan dampak bagi para pengikutnya melalui unggahan foto dan electronic word of mouth (EWom) yang mereka sampaikan di media sosial mereka. Penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan pendekatan literature review dan wawancara tidak langsung kepada para influencer dan juga pengikutnya. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa peranan influencer memberikan dampak bagi pengikutnya berdasarkan pada pada apa yang mereka unggah dan apa yang mereka tulis di sosial media Instagram.

Abstract

The research provided a descriptive analysis of six articles published by Magdalene, an Indonesian publication that resonated with feminists, pluralists, and progressive voices, to identify the subtle tactics men used to silence women. The idea of neutrality in language endured a long-standing debate between scholars in the communication field. In the perspective of feminist thinkers, language served a function of sexual division, placing men in domination and women in oppression. Women were constrained by a social system governed and communicated through a language that did not represent their experience and perspective. Men’s language denied and negated women’s authenticity. Women were only authentic when their voice was narrated by the language unfamiliar to the scream of their anguish and struggles. The language was not only a medium of expression but also a method of silence. In order to resist oppression, one must be critical of the technique men use in silencing women. Using silence methods from Muted Group Theory provided by Cheris Kramare, the research finds that silence dominantly occurs in the form of violence. The overlap of silence methods is mostly followed by censorship towards women. In one case of sexual harassment towards a female university student, the educational institution is considered the embodiment of patriarchal social construction for coercing silence to victims and doubling its function as sources of knowledge and sexual harassment perpetrators. Lastly, another finding suggests that men who strongly associate with feminist traits and whose sexual identification is against the dominant masculine norm are also disempowered.

Abstract

The advancement of technology and society has led to innovations, including in the field of media. Media convergence has given birth to a novel audiovisual medium called Video-on-Demand (VOD), which combined the logics of television, film, home video, the internet, as well as technology. This conceptual research applied a literature review method to discuss the journey of the logic of watching television with a specific schedule and a particular medium to the understanding that television, after all, is just an artifact. The paper also discussed new habits that are developed due to the birth of VOD and how VOD branding worked. This research aimed to look at how the development of media convergence in the form of VOD brought new trends, especially in Indonesia. The paper concluded that many new opportunities were ready to be utilized by VOD platforms to develop their content and reach Indonesian audiences. However, it was also necessary to consider that Indonesia’s regulations still were not utterly supporting the development of VOD.
