Abstract

The waste from the river is one of the obstacles in managing the Bengawan Solo River, Surakarta City. River debris is usually collected in tributaries so as not to carry the pollutant load to the watershed, causing flooding, and then transported to the Final Processing Site (TPA). This study aims to analyze the waste transportation system from the source to the landfill. This research was conducted by direct observation and using Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) for determination. Alternative waste transportation used are haul container system (HCS) and stationary container system (SCS). The criteria used are the number of ritations, price, ease of transportation, potential damage, maintenance, and type of container. Based on the weighting results on the MAUT analysis, transportation with the SCS method has a higher weight than the HCS method.

Abstract

Dalam konteks peningkatan keberlanjutan lingkungan, biodiesel muncul sebagai solusi energi alternatif yang menjanjikan, diperoleh dari sumber terbarukan seperti minyak tumbuhan atau lemak hewan. Upaya pengurangan ketergantungan terhadap bahan bakar fosil di Indonesia dapat ditempuh melalui adopsi biodiesel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis potensi pemanfaatan minyak jelantah, yang merupakan limbah dari aktivitas memasak para pedagang kecil, sebagai bahan baku dalam produksi biodiesel. Dengan metode penelitian kuantitatif yang mengandalkan data survei dan tinjauan literatur, studi ini menyelidiki kebutuhan infrastruktur dan potensi konversi minyak jelantah menjadi biodiesel. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa dari data survei responden, minyak jelantah dapat dikonversi menjadi biodiesel dengan kapasitas sekitar 0,66 liter biodiesel per hari. Proses pengolahan minyak jelantah menjadi biodiesel ini berpotensi menggantikan penggunaan lampu 15 Watt selama sekitar 10 hari dengan biaya operasional sebesar Rp3.655 untuk dua orang. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa pengolahan minyak jelantah menjadi biodiesel tidak hanya mendukung inisiatif zero waste di kalangan rumah tangga tetapi juga menyajikan alternatif energi yang ekonomis dan ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Kendal District has two primary waste management facilities: the Pasar Kendal Composting House and the Jatirejo Composting House. This study meticulously evaluates the operational performance of these facilities throughout the 2021-2022 timeframe, uncovering a stark contrast in their waste processing achievements. In the year 2021, the Jatirejo facility managed to process only a paltry 0.35% of the total waste received, starkly juxtaposed against the Pasar Kendal facility, which impressively reduced 100% of its waste. The subsequent year, 2022, witnessed a dramatic shift in performance metrics: Jatirejo saw a significant uptick in its processing capacity to 50.00%, while Pasar Kendal experienced a reduction in efficiency, processing only 58.81% of its waste. This research accentuates the untapped potential for amplifying the capacity and effectiveness of composting as a waste management strategy in Kendal District, where a considerable volume of waste is composed of food remnants. The study proposes a series of solutions aimed at fortifying waste management capabilities, including infrastructure enhancement, comprehensive community education programs, and the enactment of more stringent governmental policies to facilitate improvement in waste processing rates.

Abstract

The escalating challenge of waste management in the context of increasing urbanization and changing consumption patterns has accentuated the need for effective waste separation and recycling practices. This research investigates the intricate waste separation processes within recycling facilities, specifically focusing on optimizing plastic waste recycling. Waste separation plays a pivotal role in resource recovery and minimizing environmental impact. Plastic waste, characterized by diverse polymer types and forms, requires specialized separation techniques. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the potential for waste separation within a recycling facility and to propose optimization strategies for plastic waste recycling. By comprehensively assessing the waste separation processes, this research aims to identify challenges, bottlenecks, and opportunities for innovation. Insights derived from data-driven analysis will guide the formulation of targeted optimization approaches, contributing to the transition towards a circular economy and sustainable waste management practices.

Abstract

This thorough analysis explores the situation of environmental education in Indonesia, looking at its historical development, present frameworks, and notable efforts. Effective environmental education is essential given the great variety and various ecosystems of Indonesia. Indonesia, the fourth most populated nation in the world, has environmental problems because of heavy resource exploitation, industrialization, and fast urbanization. There is an urgent need for strong environmental education since society needs to be raised with the information and abilities to actively support sustainable activities. This article tracks the development of Indonesia's environmental education policies, looking at their historical foundations and how they were incorporated into the country's formal educational system, including curriculum designs and instructional strategies. In addition to traditional schooling, the analysis highlights the roles played in raising environmental awareness by NGOs, neighborhood-based projects, and government cooperation. The review attempts to determine areas for improvement and evaluate the efficacy of current procedures by evaluating different approaches. Formulating ideas to improve environmental literacy and foster a more environmentally conscious society in Indonesia requires an understanding of the country's current strengths and weaknesses. This review contributes significantly to the current discussion on environmental education by highlighting the critical role that it plays in promoting a sustainable future for everyone, not just in Indonesia but also on a larger global scale.

Abstract

Jumlah penduduk yang semakin meningkat berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan timbulan sampah dari tahun ke tahun. Salah satu komposisi sampah yang paling banyak dihasilkan adalah sampah organik. Sampah organik adalah sampah yang berasal dari makhluk hidup dan dapat terurai secara alami. Menurut DLH Provinsi Lampung, timbulan sampah sepanjang tahun 2021 di Provinsi Lampung mencapai 2,1 juta ton, di mana lebih dari 50% termasuk ke dalam jenis sampah organikĀ  Tanpa adanya pengolahan yang baik, sampah organik dapat menimbulkan berbagai masalah baik bagi lingkungan maupun kesehatan manusia. Salah satu upaya dalam penanganan sampah, termasuk sampah organik, adalah melalui bank sampah. Tujuan dari kajian ini adalah mengidentifikasi kondisi eksisting pengolahan sampah organik serta mengevaluasi efektivitas pengolahan sampah organik yang ada di Bank Sampah DLH Kota Bandar Lampung. Kajian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode komperatif deskriptif, yaitu membandingkan hasil pengamatan dengan kajian literatur mengenai proses pengolahan sampah organik. Pengumpulan data primer diperoleh dari observasi serta wawancara sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari arsip atau dokumen yang ada di Bank Sampah DLH Kota Bandar Lampung. Aspek yang dikaji dalam laporan ini adalah fasilitas serta teknis pengolahan sampah organik di Bank Sampah DLH Kota Bandar Lampung. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan di lapangan, terdapat dua jenis pengolahan sampah organik yaitu pengolahan sampah organik kering melalui proses pengomposan dan sampah organik basah menggunakan drum komposter. Secara keseluruhan, pengolahan sampah organik sudah berjalan dengan baik namun terdapat beberapa fasilitas dan teknis pengolahan yang belum digunakan atau dilakukan secara optimal.

Abstract

Kabupaten Situbondo memiliki banyak potensi sumber daya batuan, salah satunya adalah sumber daya berupa batuan andesit. Keterdapatan batuan andesit berasal dari produk gunungapi berjenis batuan beku yang terbentuk oleh aktivitas vulkanik intermediet dengan tipe magma andesitic. Penelitian ini dilakukan di wilayah IUP Eksplorasi Daerah Rajekwesi, Kecamatan Kendit, Kabupaten Situbondo untuk mengetahui kondisi geologi, petrografi batuan, dan volume sumberdaya dari batuan andesit yang terdapat dalam WIUP Eksplorasi. Berdasarkan hasil pemetaan geologi dan analisis petrografi menunjukkan bahwa Satuan Lava Kendit di daerah WIUP hadir seluas 100%, merupakan produk lava dari Gunungapi Ringgit, berisi batuan beku andesit dan sedikit tanah sebagai produk ubahan pelapukan dari batuan tersebut. Lebih detail lagi ditunjukkan dari hasil sampel batuan yang dianalisis menggunakan analisis petrografi terdapat kehadiran mineral plagioklas, kuarsa, feldspar dengan total komposisi 60% yang menunjukkan bahwa sampel tersebut berjenis batu andesit. Estimasi volume sumberdaya mengacu pada tiga jenis sumberdaya yaitu tereka, terunjuk, dan terukur. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan sumberdaya didapatkan volume sumberdaya batu andesit tereka sebesar 267.555.503 Ton, terunjuk sebesar 23.129.687 Ton, dan sumberdaya terukur sebesar 1.227.962 Ton

Abstract

Wastewater available through the sewerage system can be reused as a daily need. With a sewer system, the Universitas Pertamina Area can utilize water according to Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 82 of 2001 Class 4. Reuse of wastewater within this scope can improve sustainable development goals. This study aims to analyze the decision-making of sewerage water treatment so that it can be reused according to the class 4 quality standard. The first alternative consists of a collection tank, bar screen, pre-sedimentation, rapid sand filter (RSF), and disinfection. The second alternative consists of a collection tank, bar screen, horizontal roughing filter (HRF), RSF, and disinfection. The two alternatives provided have met the required quality standards. However, the area of land required in alternative one is too large compared to the second alternative. This causes the second alternative to be more appropriate to be applied in the Universitas Pertamina Area. Analysis of decision-making on the use of RSF media is carried out using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The alternative media for RSF are sand, granular active carbon (GAC), and zeolite. The criteria for BOD removal, total coliform removal, cost, headloss, and replacement period of the most appropriate zeolite media for use in the RSF unit process.

Abstract

Urban public health initiatives rely heavily on community participation to ensure success and sustainability. This study explores the socio-demographic determinants of community engagement in the public health initiatives of Koja Subdistrict, Jakarta. A cross-sectional survey was conducted, employing both qualitative interviews and quantitative questionnaires to gather data from a representative sample. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the data, focusing on aesthetics, public health sanitation performance, community socialization, gender, age, and education. The findings reveal that aesthetic considerations, perceived sanitation performance, socialization practices, and demographic factors significantly influence the willingness to participate. Aesthetics and community socialization positively impacted engagement, while perceived high sanitation performance paradoxically discouraged individual participation. Furthermore, demographic factors such as gender, age, and education level showed varying degrees of influence, with gender disparities and higher education correlating with increased engagement. This study contributes to understanding public health participation dynamics and offers insight into designing tailored community engagement strategies. Policymakers and health officials can leverage these insights to effectively enhance community involvement and address public health challenges.

Abstract

Kecamatan Pantai Labu, Sumatera Utara menghadapi masalah pengelolaan sampah yang mempengaruhi kesehatan dan ekosistem. Solusi berkelanjutan diperlukan untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Penelitian mengenai larva lalat tentara hitam/black soldier fly (BSF) terbukti efektif mengolah sampah organik. Studi ini ingin mengetahui faktor apa yang memotivasi masyarakat untuk mengolah sampah. Dengan menggunakan software SPSS, dilakukan terhadap 10 pertanyaan untuk mendapatkan faktor utama yang berpengaruh. Hasil menunjukkan tiga faktor: perencanaan pengelolaan sampah, urgensi masyarakat, dan pengetahuan saat ini. Faktor-faktor tersebut penting untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dalam pengelolaan sampah dan pengembangan manajemen proyek BSF. Sistem Pengelolaan Sampah Berbasis Masyarakat merupakan solusi alternatif di Pantai Labu. Dengan memahami faktor-faktor ini, dapat dilakukan komposting berbasis BSF yang paling tepat di daerah tersebut.
