Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of three factors, leadhersip role modeling, work-life balance, and a spirit of collaboration on lecturers' professional commitment. To achieve this objective, a descriptive survey was conducted, using Cresswell's (2018) descriptive survey theory. Data were collected through a questionnaire, and the results are presented as percentages to provide a clear and straightforward depiction of the findings. This approach allowed for a systematic understanding of the factors influencing professional commitment within the context of higher education. The study was conducted with a sample of 15 permanent lecturers, representing six faculties at Pancasila University. The research was carried out during January 2024, providing a snapshot of the current perceptions of faculty members. These subjects were selected to provide insight into the specific dynamics at Pancasila University, which may reflect broader trends in academic institutions. By focusing on a relatively small sample, this study aimed to provide in-depth, detailed insights into the personal and professional factors influencing lecturers’ commitment to their work. The data analysis began by determining the ideal score for each variable and measuring the level of lecturers' perceptions using a percentage formula. This method helped to quantify the perceived impact of leadership, work-life balance, and collaboration on lecturers' professional commitment. The results indicated that exemplary leadership and a collaborative environment had the most significant influence on lecturers' motivation, job satisfaction, and commitment to the institution. Work-life balance was also found to positively affect professional commitment, but to a lesser extent compared to leadership and collaboration. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of leadership, work-life balance, and a spirit of togetherness in strengthening lecturers' professional commitment. The findings suggest that universities should invest in leadership development, foster a collaborative academic environment, and support work-life balance initiatives to enhance faculty engagement and retention. Future research could expand the sample size and examine additional factors that may contribute to professional commitment in higher education settings.

However, in practice, there are still many organizations that face the problem of low employee commitment, which is marked by low loyalty, a lack of sense of responsibility, and an increasing desire to change jobs. This research aims to formulate improvement strategies for organizational commitment through strengthening leadership authenticity, integrity, teamwork, and trust. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method. Data collection in this study was done through a field survey. The data analysis method in this study uses path analysis and SITOREM analysis (Scientific Identification Theory to Conduct Research, Operation Research in Education Management). The research results show that leadership authenticity, integrity, and teamwork have a positive and significant influence on organizational commitment, both directly and indirectly through trust. Therefore, trust is proven to play a role as an effective mediator in strengthening the influence of leadership authenticity, integrity, and teamwork towards organizational commitment.

Abstract

In the world of education, teachers have a very large and important role in teaching and learning activities because teachers are educators who are directly related to students, so teachers are required to have good performance in order to teach students who have good quality as well. One of the educational problems faced by the Indonesian people is the low quality of education at every level and unit of education, especially primary and secondary education. Various efforts have been made to improve the quality of education, among others through various training and improvement of teacher qualifications, procurement of books and learning tools, improvement of facilities and infrastructure, and improvement of the quality of school management. However, various indicators for improving the quality of education have not shown an even increase. Based on preliminary research, it is known that the performance of SDN teachers in West Jakarta City has a teacher performance problem, namely that teacher performance has not been achieved in accordance with the target, therefore research is needed to obtain information on variables related to teacher performance. This study aims to find efforts to overcome teacher performance problems by knowing the strength of the variables that are thought to affect teacher performance. In this case, it is the organizational culture, transformational leadership and personality and together with the related variables, namely teacher performance. The research population consisted of all teachers from elementary schools in Jakarta Barat City. The sampling technique used Multistage Proportional Random Sampling, and the Slovin formula was used to determine the number of samples in order to obtain 589 samples. The results of the study found that all variables had a significant positive relationship with teacher performance towards the organization, in order based on the strength of the relationship as follows: organizational culture (ry1 = 0.996, ρ <0.05), transformational leadership (ry2 = 0.976, ρ <0, 05), and personality (ry3 = 0.993, ρ <0.05).The results of the SITOREM analysis show that the components of teacher performance that have priority improvements that need to be improved are: (1) Stable, Implementation of the concept of teacher performance related to quality in the implementation of learning, (2) Quantity, Implementation of Teacher Performance Concepts specifically related to Quantity in the implementation of learning, (3 ) Innovation, Implementation of Teacher Performance Concepts specifically related to Quality in implementation in learning, (4) Agreeableness, Implementation of Teacher Performance Concepts specifically related to Quality in implementation in learning. The suggestions that can be submitted for principals and teachers are to maintain indicators that have a fairly good score.

Abstract

The demands of 21st-century learning and the characteristics of vocational education place teacher innovation as a key factor in improving the quality of learning. One important determinant of teacher innovation is teaching effectiveness, which reflects the teacher's ability to plan, implement, and evaluate learning systematically and adaptively. This study aims to analyze the influence of teaching effectiveness on teacher innovation in private vocational high schools (SMK) in Bekasi Regency. The study used a mixed methods approach with a sequential exploratory design. The qualitative phase was conducted through structured interviews with 30 teachers in five private vocational high schools to explore in-depth the practice of teaching effectiveness and its contribution to the emergence of learning innovation. The qualitative findings were used as the basis for developing a conceptual model and formulating research hypotheses. The quantitative phase involved 124 permanent foundation teachers selected through multistage random sampling and proportional random sampling techniques from a population of 180 teachers in nine accredited private vocational high schools. Quantitative data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The analysis results show that teaching effectiveness has a positive and significant effect on teacher innovation with a path coefficient value of 0.514, a T-statistic of 6.100, and a p-value of 0.001. This finding confirms that teachers with a high level of teaching effectiveness tend to be more innovative in developing learning strategies, methods, and media. This study provides theoretical contributions by strengthening the role of teaching effectiveness as a determinant of teacher innovation, as well as practical implications for teacher professional development and policies to improve the quality of learning in vocational schools.
