Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to describe the role of canva-based visual learning media in increasing the learning interest of 4-5 years old children in Tunas Bakti Kin-dergarten. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research subjects con-sisted of teachers and children aged 4-5 years at Tunas Bakti Kindergarten who were involved in learning activities. Data were collected through inter-views, observations and documentation. Results: Canva-based visual learning media was able to significantly increase the learning interest and engagement of 4-5-year-olds in the learning process. With its attractive and interactive design, Canva is able to change the dynam-ics of learning at Tunas Bakti Kindergarten. Children who initially had a low interest in learning and often felt bored showed increased focus and enthusi-asm for learning activities. In addition, participation that was previously pas-sive has transformed into more active, where children interact more, both with teachers and peers. Applications/Originality/Value: This research is useful in utilizing Canva as a creative solution for visual learning media, in order to increase the learning interest of 4-5 years old children. The results support educators in creating more interesting and ap-propriate materials for children's development while improving teachers' competence in utilizing technology as part of the learning process.

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes how different parental parenting styles—authoritarian, permissive, and democratic—contribute to the social‐emotional development of 4–5‑year‑old children at Aisyiyah Pucangan Kartasura Kindergarten, with a focus on skills such as empathy, cooperation, and emotional regulation. Methodology: Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom and home observations, semi‑structured interviews with teachers and parents, and documentation of parent–teacher communications. Participants included kindergarten teachers and Group A children along with their parents, ensuring a comprehensive view of both home and school influences on child development. Results: The findings indicate that democratic parenting most effectively supports children’s social‐emotional growth, fostering empathy, cooperative behaviors, and self‐regulation. Although many parents reported practicing a democratic style, observations revealed occasional tendencies toward permissiveness or authoritarianism—either pampering or pressuring children during activities. Active parental involvement at home and in school events emerged as a critical factor in enhancing social‐emotional skills. Additionally, teacher‐designed play activities proved effective in stimulating critical thinking and creativity. Applications/Originality/Value: By highlighting the interplay between parenting styles and structured school activities, this research underscores the importance of consistent, collaborative partnerships between parents and teachers. Its insights advocate for improved communication channels and joint training programs to ensure cohesive, supportive environments that optimize children’s social‐ emotional and cognitive development.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores how daily habituation practices—specifically the morning pledge—can strengthen moral and religious values in early childhood. Conducted at Aisyiyah Bustanul Atfal Padang Panjang Kindergarten, it aims to demonstrate the pledge’s role in embedding core virtues such as discipline, gratitude, and belief in Allah, alongside moral qualities like respect and cooperation. Methodology: Employing a descriptive qualitative design, researchers gathered data through direct classroom observations of the morning pledge ritual, semi‑structured interviews with teachers, and review of relevant documentation (attendance records, lesson plans, and behavioral logs). This triangulated approach ensured a rich, multi‑angled understanding of how the practice is implemented and received. Results: Findings reveal that the morning pledge serves as a powerful, ritualized entry point for instilling both religious and moral values. Teachers’ active participation—leading the pledge, modeling respectful posture, and reinforcing its meanings—and their consistency in practice were identified as critical factors. Children who regularly engaged in the pledge displayed heightened awareness of discipline (arriving and standing neatly), expressed verbalized gratitude, and demonstrated cooperative behaviors during subsequent classroom activities. Applications/Originality/Value: By highlighting the pledge’s efficacy as a daily character‑building tool, this study offers a practical model for early‑childhood educators seeking to integrate value education seamlessly into routines. Its insights underscore the importance of teacher commitment and consistency and can inform teacher‑training programs and curriculum guidelines aimed at nurturing both spiritual and moral development in young learners.
