Abstract

The role of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is increasingly pivotal in enhancing the performance and effectiveness of educational institutions, yet there remains a gap in understanding how cultural values rooted in local wisdom influence OCB. This research explores the effects of spiritual beliefs, cooperative behavior, and perceptions of organizational justice on OCB, with job satisfaction positioned as a mediating factor. A mixed-method design was utilized, combining quantitative survey data and qualitative interview findings involving educators in West Java. Analytical techniques included structural equation modeling for the quantitative data and thematic analysis for the qualitative responses. The study reveals that job satisfaction plays a crucial mediating role, particularly amplifying the influence of organizational justice, which was found to be the most dominant factor impacting OCB. These outcomes highlight the importance of nurturing a work culture that emphasizes fairness, collective harmony, and internalized values to foster higher levels of job satisfaction and discretionary behavior. The findings offer practical recommendations for educational organizations to implement policies that support psychological well-being, shared values, and organizational transparency in order to optimize positive employee contributions.

Abstract

Nurse engagement is an important factor in improving the quality of health services, patient safety, and hospital performance. The level of nurse engagement can differ between public and private hospitals due to differences in organizational characteristics, management systems, work culture, and leadership styles. This study aims to explore strategies for increasing nurse engagement based on the context of both types of hospitals. The study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through literature review and observation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show differences in the level of nurse engagement between government and private hospitals. Government hospital nurses have high engagement indicators in productivity, ownership, loyalty, vigor, and absorption, while private hospital nurses excel in career development and dedication. Perceived organizational support, self-efficacy, and servant leadership had a positive and significant effect on nurse engagement in both types of hospitals, both partially and simultaneously. However, the difference in the effect of each variable partially was not significant between the two hospitals. This study recommends the formulation of strategies to increase engagement through socialization programs, organizational support and self-efficacy training, and strengthening servant leadership.

Abstract

This study investigates the direct and indirect effects of organizational culture and teamwork on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative survey was conducted with 197 employees from BPJS Kesehatan Head Office, Indonesia, using validated questionnaires measuring organizational culture (33 items, α=0.906), teamwork (38 items, α=0.936), work motivation (35 items, α=0.936), and employee performance (37 items, α=0.942). Path analysis revealed that organizational culture significantly predicted employee performance (β=0.250, p<0.001) and work motivation (β=0.384, p<0.001). Teamwork significantly influenced employee performance (β=0.256, p<0.001) and work motivation (β=0.388, p<0.001). Work motivation exhibited the strongest direct effect on employee performance (β=0.365, p<0.001). Sobel tests confirmed significant mediation effects of work motivation on the relationship between organizational culture and employee performance (z=6.729, p<0.001), and between teamwork and employee performance (z=6.667, p<0.001). These findings demonstrate that work motivation serves as a crucial psychological mechanism through which organizational culture and teamwork influence employee performance. The results validate the Integrative Model of Organizational Behavior within a non-Western public sector context and provide evidence-based recommendations for performance enhancement strategies emphasizing integrated interventions targeting culture, teamwork, and motivation simultaneously.

Abstract

This research examines how servant leadership influences employee performance and organizational commitment within the Indonesian public sector, with work motivation as a mediating factor. Using a quantitative approach and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) on 157 employees, the study develops a framework for enhancing employee outcomes. The results indicate that servant leadership has a positive impact on both performance and commitment, through direct and indirect channels. Work motivation proved to be a critical mediator, explaining 38.95% of the total effect of servant leadership on performance and 24.68% of the effect on commitment. The main contribution of this study is its integrated model, which explores the synergy between servant leadership and motivation within the bureaucratic and collectivist setting of Indonesian public enterprises. These findings strengthen existing motivation theories, while practically, they underscore the necessity for public organizations to adopt an approach that cultivates servant leaders and strengthens motivation through supportive systems. In summary, servant leadership and work motivation function together to improve performance and commitment. Future studies are encouraged to extend this model to other industries and use mixed-methods research for deeper contextual understanding.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the suboptimal Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of private vocational high school education personnel in Bogor Regency, which is reflected in low work initiative, extra-role behavior, and participation in supporting organizational effectiveness. This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of Transformational Leadership and Emotional Intelligence on OCB with Job Satisfaction as an intervening variable, as well as formulating strategies for improving OCB. The results show that Transformational Leadership has a direct positive and significant effect on OCB (β = 0.371), Emotional Intelligence has a direct positive and significant effect on OCB (β = 0.396), and Job Satisfaction has a direct positive and significant effect on OCB (β = 0.171). Transformational Leadership has a positive effect on Job Satisfaction (β = 0.127), and Emotional Intelligence has a positive effect on Job Satisfaction (β = 0.607). The indirect effects of Transformational Leadership and Emotional Intelligence on OCB through Job Satisfaction were β = 0.022 and β = 0.103, respectively. These findings indicate that strengthening transformational leadership, developing emotional intelligence, and increasing job satisfaction are important strategies for improving OCB.

Abstract

This study aims to identify strategies for increasing organizational commitment thru programs that strengthen perceived organizational support, job satisfaction, and work motivation. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a sample of 93 respondents. The respondents are civil servants holding non-managerial positions at the Bogor City Environmental Agency. The data was processed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The research results indicate that perceived organizational support has a direct negative and insignificant impact on organizational commitment, but it has a positive and significant impact on job satisfaction and work motivation as mediating variables. Perceived organizational support was found to indirectly influence organizational commitment thru job satisfaction. However, perceived organizational support was not found to indirectly influence organizational commitment thru work motivation. The findings of this study confirm that perceived organizational support does not directly increase organizational commitment, but plays an important role thru increased job satisfaction. Conversely, work motivation is not an effective mediating path, so job satisfaction emerges as the main mechanism explaining how perceived organizational support can strengthen employes' commitment to the organization
