Abstract

Until now, the problem of theft of motorbikes and livestock in North Sumatra is still quite high.  Locations for motorbike theft can occur in many places such as schools, homes, parking lots, offices and so on, while for livestock it can occur on pastures and in pens during the day or night and the perpetrators are men. To make this theft a success, various modes are used in varying human positions, from sitting, squatting to standing. To help overcome this, several object detection methods have been developed such as Background Subtraction, Template Matching, Histogram Oriented Gradient (HOG), Deformable Part-based Model (DPM) and Viola Jones (VJ).   Of the many methods that have been used, there are still shortcomings, namely in terms of time, accuracy and various human positions.  For this reason, research was carried out with the aim of improving the time and level of accuracy in detecting human objects using the YOLO method. The research stages carried out in this research include literature study, collecting data, determining training and test data, creating programs, training, and testing. From the trials carried out, it is known that YOLO can detect humans in various positions with a mAP value of 0.99 and an average detection time of 810.01 ms.

Abstract

The school library serves as a vital facility in educational institutions, providing a wide range of materials including books and non-books for teaching and learning purposes. SMP Negeri 18 Medan, located in North Sumatra, Indonesia, is equipped with its own school library. However, the management of these libraries is currently manual, with borrowing and returning recorded transactions using traditional methods, resulting in time-consuming processes for both recording and retrieving book data.

Abstract

Leaf diseases in tomato plants can significantly reduce crop yields and threaten agricultural sustainability. This study proposes a multi-class classification approach for tomato leaf diseases using transfer learning with pre-trained CNN architectures, specifically DenseNet121 and DenseNet169. The dataset used is a subset of PlantVillage, consisting of six disease classes and healthy leaves, with preprocessing steps including image augmentation and resizing. The training strategy involves two phases: feature extraction and fine-tuning, optimized using the Adam algorithm and categorical cross-entropy loss function. Evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score show that the DenseNet121 model achieves the best performance, reaching an accuracy of 96.23%, followed by MobileNetV2 with 92.89%. Loss curves and confusion matrix analysis confirm that the model performs classification tasks with stability and high precision, despite some misclassifications between visually similar disease classes. This study demonstrates that transfer learning with DenseNet—particularly DenseNet121 is effective for automatic and efficient classification of various tomato leaf diseases, offering potential for real-world implementation as a computer vision-based plant disease diagnosis system.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang dan membangun sistem informasi aset berbasis web pada Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Laut (Ditjen Hubla) Sumatera Utara untuk mengatasi kelemahan pengelolaan aset yang masih dilakukan secara manual menggunakan buku dan spreadsheet terpisah. Kondisi tersebut menimbulkan risiko kesalahan pencatatan, duplikasi data, keterlambatan pelaporan, serta kesulitan pemantauan kondisi dan mutasi aset secara akurat dan real-time. Solusi yang diusulkan adalah pengembangan sistem informasi manajemen aset berbasis web dengan metode Waterfall melalui tahapan identifikasi masalah, studi pustaka, pengumpulan data, analisis kebutuhan, perancangan menggunakan Data Flow Diagram dan Entity Relationship Diagram, implementasi dengan PHP dan MySQL, serta pengujian menggunakan metode blackbox. Sistem yang dihasilkan menyediakan fitur autentikasi pengguna, pengelompokan aset, pendataan aset, pengadaan, mutasi, dan penyajian laporan terpusat bagi admin dan pimpinan instansi. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan seluruh fungsi utama berjalan sesuai kebutuhan pengguna, termasuk validasi input, keterkaitan antar data, dan kemudahan akses laporan. Implementasi sistem ini mampu meningkatkan efisiensi operasional, akurasi data, dan transparansi pengelolaan aset, sekaligus menjadi dasar pengembangan lanjutan, seperti integrasi barcode/QR code dan analitik aset untuk mendukung pengambilan keputusan strategis organisasi.

Abstract

The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced various aspects of daily life, including the field of education. While generative AI offers substantial benefits in enhancing creativity, learning efficiency, and access to information, its uncontrolled and unethical use may negatively affect users’ critical thinking abilities, academic integrity, and moral responsibility. This community service activity aims to increase awareness of ethical considerations and critical thinking skills through educational programs on the responsible use of generative AI. The implementation methods include educational seminars, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations on the proper, ethical, and critical use of generative AI tools in learning activities. The program targets community members and learners, emphasizing the importance of understanding both the advantages and potential risks of generative AI. The results of the activity indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of ethical AI use, increased awareness of the limitations of generative AI, and enhanced critical thinking in evaluating AI-generated information. This activity is expected to contribute to the development of responsible, ethical, and reflective AI users, thereby supporting the improvement of learning quality in the digital era.

Abstract

The use of the Internet of Things is currently very useful for the plantation sector, especially mustard greens. The Smart Garden System is still not widely found on plantation land. Smart Garden comes from English which means garden or smart garden, which is a system design created to make work in plantations easier. The aim of making this tool is to help in managing the plants, apart from helping in managing the plants, this Smart Garden can also be used to measure the humidity/air content in the soil, because some people who are cultivating do not know/cannot distinguish which soil is good for certain crops are planted and which are not, resulting in many crops failing to harvest and being detrimental because they wither and die. So it is hoped that this smart garden system can help many farmers in maintaining soil moisture conditions and can minimize damage to plants. "Smart Garden System" Refers to the concept of technology integration in garden or agricultural management to increase efficiency, productivity and loss. Abstract

In today’s digital era, student attendance systems have become a crucial aspect of education management. This research aims to design and build a QR Code and Firebase-based student attendance information system at UNITAR Penang, Malaysia. This system is expected to improve efficiency and accuracy in the attendance process. The method used in this research is the Agile software development method, which allows for iterative and incremental development.
