Abstract

Mangrove forest conservation requires effective volunteer management and technological support. This study developed the Roveteer application, a specialized digital platform designed to optimize volunteer coordination and engagement in mangrove conservation efforts at Kota Pari Village. The research employed a user-centered design approach, integrating technological innovation with local ecological conservation needs. Through systematic analysis of volunteer management challenges, the application was developed to streamline recruitment, task allocation, tracking, and impact assessment of conservation activities. The Roveteer platform features include real-time volunteer registration, activity scheduling, performance monitoring, and geographical mapping of conservation zones. Prototype testing demonstrated the application's potential to enhance volunteer participation, improve communication efficiency, and provide data-driven insights into conservation efforts. Results indicated a 35% improvement in volunteer coordination and a 40% increase in documented conservation activities compared to traditional management methods. The Roveteer application represents a significant technological innovation in local environmental preservation, offering a replicable model for community-driven conservation technology that can be adapted to similar ecological contexts.

Abstract

Kota Pari Village has a strategic coastal area but faces the challenge of degradation of mangrove ecosystems. Kota pari Village has the potential for mangrove forests that can be used as tourist attractions in coastal areas. This research aims to design a Geographic Information System (GIS) to support appropriate and sustainable mangrove planting planning. The research method uses a quantitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through field observation, interviews, and spatial analysis. The research stages include collecting geographic data, mapping ecosystem conditions, analyzing land characteristics, and identifying potential zones for mangrove planting. The Geographic Information System is developed using Web-based software by considering parameters such as topography, soil type, salinity, and abrasion rate. The results of the study show that GIS has successfully identified 15 potential zones for mangrove planting with different levels of land suitability. This system is able to provide recommendations for planting locations, appropriate types of mangroves, and appropriate conservation strategies. This research makes a significant contribution to supporting mangrove ecosystem restoration efforts, sustainable development planning, and coastal area management in Kota Pari Village.

Abstract

The use of information technology in education continues to evolve, including in the analysis of vocational school department selection. This study aims to apply Business Intelligence (BI) to analyze admission opportunities in the most popular departments at SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Pura. The data used is secondary data from SMK applicants between 2020 and 2024, processed using Tableau software for data visualization. The results indicate that the Motorcycle Engineering and Business department is the most favored choice, while the Accounting department has the fewest applicants. BI implementation enables more accurate and informative data presentation, aiding schools in student admission strategies and providing clearer information for prospective students in choosing a department.

Abstract

Politeknik Negeri Medan, like many higher education institutions in Indonesia, encounters persistent challenges in managing non-academic student activities due to fragmented data repositories, inconsistent reporting mechanisms, and manual administrative workflows. This study proposes the design of a cloud-native Student Activity Management Information System (SAMIS) engineered to streamline the processes of planning, monitoring, verification, and evaluation of extracurricular activities. The system adopts a microservices-based architecture supported by containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency. Key functional modules include proposal submission, multi-level review workflows, real-time activity tracking, and centralized document management. Although the system has not yet been implemented, architectural simulations, workflow modelling, and comparative analysis with previous studies indicate strong potential for improving institutional governance and supporting data-driven decision-making. The proposed design also aligns with contemporary digital transformation initiatives in higher education. Future work includes prototype development, pilot testing, and comprehensive user evaluation to validate performance in real-world contexts.

Abstract

Price competition on increasingly competitive e-commerce platforms requires businesses to implement pricing strategies that are adaptive and responsive to market dynamics. Static pricing strategies have proven to be unable to accommodate changes in demand, competitor prices, and consumer perceptions in real-time. This study aims to develop a Dynamic Pricing model based on Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) using the Deep Q-Network (DQN) algorithm that integrates the sentiment analysis of consumer reviews with the IndoBERT model and competitor prices obtained through web scraping. The research data was collected from the Tokopedia marketplace in the electronic product category for six months (January-June 2024), including 12,450 product reviews and 3,200 snapshots of competitors' prices from 45 sellers. The fine-tuned IndoBERT model achieved an accuracy of 91.2% and an F1-score of 0.89 in the three-class sentiment classification. The results of the experiment showed that the proposed DQN model increased total revenue by 18.7%, profit margin by 14.3%, and conversion rate by 11.2% compared to the static pricing strategy. This model also outperformed rule-based pricing by 8.1% and Q-Learning tabular by 3.3% in revenue metrics. The Ablation study confirmed that the sentiment feature contributed 6.3 percentage points to the increase in revenue. This study proves that the integration of consumer sentiment signals and competitors' prices within the framework of DRL provides a more optimal and adaptive pricing strategy in the e-commerce environment.

Abstract

This study aims to apply and compare the performance of two data mining algorithms—Random Forest (RF) and K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN)—in classifying poverty status among residents of Labuhanbatu Regency. The dataset includes information on occupation, income, housing, and education from 21,137 individuals. After undergoing preprocessing, model training, hyperparameter optimization, and evaluation, both models were assessed using five key metrics: accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC. The results show that Random Forest performed slightly better than KNN, achieving an accuracy of 0.6023, precision of 0.4827, recall of 0.4177, F1-score of 0.4479, and an AUC of 0.5681. In comparison, KNN obtained an accuracy of 0.5990, precision of 0.4771, recall of 0.4006, F1-score of 0.4355, and an AUC of 0.5622. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Random Forest is more effective for poverty classification on this dataset, although the performance difference is relatively small.

Abstract

The gap between vocational graduates’ competencies and labor market demands remains a pressing issue in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze alumni perceptions regarding the alignment between competencies acquired during their studies at LP3I Banda Aceh and real-world job requirements. A quantitative approach was adopted using a deep learning method based on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). Data were collected through an online survey containing open-ended responses from 934 alumni, followed by preprocessing, tokenization, lexicon-based sentiment labeling, and data splitting into training and testing sets. The models developed included pure LSTM, LSTM with class weights, and Bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM). Results indicate that BiLSTM achieved the highest performance with 90% accuracy and a weighted F1-score of 0.91. Additionally, 44.5% of respondents expressed neutral or negative sentiments, highlighting a mismatch between acquired competencies and industry demands. These findings underscore the urgency of curriculum evaluation and stronger collaboration between vocational institutions and the labor market. This study demonstrates that deep learning offers an efficient and objective tool for competency mapping in vocational education.
