Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of microwave power and solvent volume to the density of Frangipani essential oil, and to determine the yield effect of mass of raw material on Frangipani essential oil. Frangipani flowers that have been cut in the size of ± 2 cm are extracted in the microwave with a mass of 25 gr and 50 gr, volume of solvents is 300, 400, 500, and 600 ml. The extraction process uses microwave power of 300, 450, and 600 watt and the extraction time is three hours. The results showed that the effect of microwave power and the volume of solvent had a significant effect on the density of Frangipani flower essential oils. The result showed that the density is increase when the microwave power and the volume of solvent increase. The highest density is produced at 600-watt microwave power, 600 ml solvent volume, and 50 gram of Frangipani flower mass that is equal to 0.904 gram/ml. Yield decreases with increasing mass of raw material used. The highest yield was produced at 600-watt microwave power, 600 ml solvent volume, and 25-gram Frangipani mass, which is equal to 1.612%.C

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of KOH concentration and reaction time on the flash point and pour point of biodiesel from kapok seed oil. The biodiesel transesterification process is carried out in a batch reactor equipped with stirrer. The first step in this research is to reduce the free fatty acid content (esterification process). The second step is transesterification of biodiesel from kapok seed oil. The concentrations of KOH used in this research were 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0% by weight of the oil and the reaction time were 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 hours. The operating conditions used in this study were a temperature of 60 oC and a pressure of 4 bar. The results showed that the concentration of KOH and reaction time had a significant effect on the flash point and pour point of biodiesel. The best flash point and pour point were obtained at a concentration of 0.5% KOH and a reaction time of 1.5 hours, which were 163 oC and -8 oC.

Abstract

Bulu tangkis merupakan salah satu jenis olahraga yang memiliki banyak peminat khusunya anak – anak,  dan membutuhkan kemampuan fisik. Meskipun terbilang mudah untuk dilakukan, jika tidak dibekali teknik dasar yang benar, maka bulu tangkis dapat menyebabkan risiko cedera pada anak-anak. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pengenalan teknik dasar dalam bermain bulu tangkis pada anak – anak di Dusun Congkop, Desa Keboansikep, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan pelatihan. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu anak – anak dapat menambah wawasan dan skill mereka dalam bermain bulu tangkis. Kegiatan ini juga diharapkan mampu memotivasi mereka untuk menjaga kesehatan dengan rutin berolahraga

Abstract

UD. Rahayu Food was one of pioneer on the special tofu production with soft texture called “tahu susu”. During pandemic of Covid-19, the productivity of UD. Rahayu Food was decreased and it had an impact on their sales. Optimalization of its production process by technology application would be one of the solutions for UD. Rahayu Food. The aims of this community service at UD. Rahayu Food is upgrading their productivity rate by production tools improvement. The production tool that was developed on this activity is symmetrical tofu cutter. This equipment was utilized for cutting of tofu symmetrically before being processed into “tahu susu”. Moreover, this cutter could speed up the slicing step process and their product quantity would be raised. Hopefully, provision of this symmetrical cutting tool could increase the income of UD. Abstract

PT Petrokimia Gresik is the most complete fertilizer producing company and also produces fertilizer raw materials such as phosphoric acid. The process technology used in this company is Nissan C Process. One of the steps in this process is the phosphoric acid concentration unit. This unit consists of several steps such as evaporation, cooling, and fluorine scrubber. In the evaporation process, the most important equipment is the heat exchanger. As time goes by, it is necessary to evaluate the performance of this equipment. So, this case study aims to evaluate the performance of the heat exchanger, including the pressure of the heat exchanger the allowable pressure also to calculate the efficiency of the heat exchanger to determine whether the equipment is still suitable for use or not. Based on the calculation and analysis,  obtained the pressure drop on the shell is 0.8817 psi, the pressure drop on the tube is 4.549 psi, and the efficiency of the equipment is 82.7%. So, it can be concluded that the heat exchanger used by PT Petrokimia Gresik is still suitable for use.

Abstract

Briquette is an alternative energy source which is a non-renewable fossil fuel substituent. In addition, briquettes are also one of the products of biomass fuel which are currently widely used as alternative fuels. Organic waste from vegetables is one of the potentials that can be developed into fuel in the form of biochar. Giripurno Village is a village with quite large agricultural products, but the processing of agricultural waste in the village is still not carried out optimally. One of the agricultural commodities in Giripurno Village is carrots where organic carrot waste has the potential to be processed into biochar or briquette fuel products. The purpose of this carrot waste treatment is so that the village community understands the potential of organic waste produced from agricultural products in Giripurno Village. The method used is by compiling a module for making carrot organic waste briquettes and conducting socialization and submitting the module to village representatives in order to increase the wider economic potential of the village. The results of carrot briquettes have a burning time resistance of 51.05 minutes with an ash content of 18.12%. Thus, carrot briquettes are one of the potentials to improve the village economy and can be used as one of the main commodities of Giripurno Village.

Abstract

Desa Giripurno yang berada di Kecamatan Bumiaji, Kota Batu, memiliki banyak potensi yang masih dapat dioptimalkan, salah satunya air. Desa Giripurno memiliki 12 sumber mata air yang memiliki kegunaannya masing-masing dan masih ada beberapa mata air yang belum maksimal dalam pemanfaatannya. Hal tersebut menjadi perhatian utama untuk dapat menjadikan mata air tersebut sebagai salah satu bahan baku utama dalam produksi air minum dalam kemasan (AMDK). Tujuan dari pemetaan sumber mata air ini dilakukan dalam rangka membangun dan memaksimalkan potensi sumber mata air di Desa Giripurno serta menentukan sumber mata air yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku memproduksi air minum dalam kemasan (AMDK). Metode yang digunakan dalam proses pengambilan data pada pemetaan ini yaitu metode deskriptif dan kualitatif dengan survei lapangan untuk mendapatkan titik sebaran sumber mata air. Hasil dari survei lapangan dan pemetaan yang dilakukan, terdapat 7 sumber mata air yang dapat dioptimalkan dari 12 total sumber mata air. Sumber mata air tersebut tersebar di 4 dusun (Sabrangbendo, Sawahan, Krajan, dan Kedung) dari 6 dusun di Desa Giripurno. Pemanfaatan mata air tersebut diantaranya sebagai MCK, keperluan air bersih, irigasi perkebunan, dan pengolahan air minum. Dari beberapa sumber air yang dipetakan, sumber air Kijan, Umbul, dan Soyi yang memiliki debit diatas 1000 ml/detik. Berdasarkan pemanfaatannya oleh masyarakat Desa Giripurno, sumber mata air Umbul digunakan untuk irigasi perkebunan sedangkan Soyi digunakan untuk kebutuhan MCK. Namun, sumber mata air Kijan belum dioptimalkan kegunaannya oleh warga. Oleh karena itu, sumber mata air Kijan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku untuk memproduksi air minum dalam kemasan (AMDK) pada Desa Giripurno.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought many people who have businesses out of their businesses. Therefore, the community is required to be able to adapt to the conditions that occured, by making efforts to renew or rebrand their business to be better and be able to survive in the market. In addition, rebranding can generate brand awareness and product brand image. The general purpose of this rebranding program or logo creation is to make UMKM have their own characteristics and become a differentiator between fellow UMKM. As well as in terms of promotion, consumers can also easily recognize a product. The existence of a logo also makes a business product attractive to attract more customers. By using field survey methods and online surveys through WhatsApp media as well as discussions with UMKM owners, it was found that the existence of a new logo made consumers interested in buying and products that were rebranded became more easily known by consumers because of uniqueness and attractiveness of the logo. Abstract

Pandemi covid-19 memberi dampak pada berbagai macam aspek kehidupan. Salah satunya pada aspek pendidikan, pemerintah menetapkan kebijakan School From Home (SFH) atau sekolah dari rumah sehingga kegiatan pembelajaran dilaksanakan menggunakan media online. Kegiatan ini diadakan untuk meningkatkan semangat belajar berbahasa inggris di masa pandemi, menggunakan media Zoom yang dikhususkan pada kegiatan sehari-hari (daily activities). Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh anak SD dari berbagai macam sekolah. Kegiatan ini berhasil membuat peserta kegiatan mampu menyampaikan kegiatan sehari-hari dalam bahasa inggris dengan baik dan benar.

Abstract

In a process, industrial plants have several tools that require steam to help run the processing of a material. For the heating process, PT. Petrokimia Gresik requires steam. Sometime the steam leak during the process, so it reduces the productivity of this industry. For that reason, the purpose of this calculation is to find out the steam loss during the process, especially in urea globe control valve (PV-723, PV-726, PV-735). The result show that the upstream pressure and temperature at PV-723 are 21 kg/cm2G and 307 oC, upstream pressure and temperature in PV-726 are 5 kg / cm2G and 158 oC, upstream pressure and temperature on PV-735 of 2.5 kg / cm2G and 138 oC. For downstream pressure on all valves is 1.03323 kg/cm2G. The obtained mass flow (F) in each valve is 0.514 tons / hr, 0.86 tons / hr and 1,902 tons / hr. The value of the input mass balance of steam in the system is 82.70 tons/hour and the overall output is74.11 tons/hour. Therefore, the total steam loss in PV-723, PV-726, and PV-735 is around 8.59 tons/hour which mean there are some leak during the process that need to do further investigation.
