Abstract

This study was motivated by the research problem concerning how the implementation of graduate profile dimensions contributes to students’ character development from a philosophical perspective at UPT SPF SDN Mattoangin II, as well as the strategies, student responses, and challenges encountered during the process. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of graduate profile dimensions, analyze the strategies employed by teachers, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in students’ character development. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of teachers and sixth-grade students selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was conducted through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out descriptively to obtain an in-depth understanding of the phenomena being investigated. The findings revealed that the implementation of graduate profile dimensions had been integrated into the learning process through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. The main strategies applied included modeling, habituation, and the use of active learning methods such as discussions and question-and-answer activities. Students demonstrated positive responses through behavioral changes, including increased discipline, responsibility, independence, cooperation skills, and the development of critical reasoning abilities. However, several challenges were identified, including the lack of consistency between school and home environments and the influence of digital media. The study concludes that the implementation of graduate profile dimensions provides a positive impact on students’ character development. Nevertheless, further reinforcement is still needed through stronger collaboration between schools and parents, as well as the improvement of students’ digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of practicum-based science learning evaluation at UPT SPF SDN Mongisidi 2, the assessment instruments used by teachers, as well as the challenges and effectiveness of its implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis to provide an in-depth description of the learning evaluation process. The results showed that the practicum-based science learning evaluation was implemented systematically, starting from the planning, implementation, and reflection stages. In the evaluation process, teachers used various assessment instruments to evaluate students' participation, group collaboration, skills in using tools and materials, observation abilities, conceptual understanding, and practicum outcomes. Several challenges were identified, including limited practicum tools and materials, time constraints, and the lack of experience among some students in conducting practicum activities. Nevertheless, practicum-based science learning was found to be effective in improving students' understanding of the subject matter because it provides direct, active, and meaningful learning experiences. Therefore, practicum-based science learning evaluation can effectively support the achievement of learning objectives.

Abstract

The increasing generation of used cooking oil (UCO) as food waste presents significant environmental challenges while offering opportunities for value-added utilization within a circular economy framework. This study evaluated the effect of potassium hydroxide (KOH) concentration on the quality and microbial characteristics of liquid soap produced from UCO with added orange essential oil. Prior to saponification, UCO was purified using 2% activated charcoal to reduce impurities and undesirable odors. Liquid soap formulations were prepared using three KOH concentrations (20%, 30%, and 40%) and three oil types, namely fresh cooking oil, untreated UCO, and purified UCO. The quality of the liquid soap was assessed based on physicochemical parameters, including homogeneity, pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and total plate count. Antibacterial activity was evaluated against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus using standard microbiological assays. The results showed that increasing KOH concentration was associated with higher pH, viscosity, and improved homogeneity of the liquid soap. Soap formulated with 40% KOH exhibited more stable physicochemical characteristics compared with those of the lower concentrations. Purification of used cooking oil appeared to enhance oil reactivity during saponification, resulting in more consistent soap properties. The addition of orange essential oil did not produce a clear inhibition zone. It was, however, associated with lower total plate count (TPC) values, indicating a potential role in microbial growth suppression.
