Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of physical education on the social-emotional development of children at SD Inpres Pa'Baeng-Baeng, Makassar City. Using a quantitative research design with a quasi-experimental approach, as many as 60 students in grades IV and V were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group that participated in a structured physical education program and a control group that participated in a standard physical education program. Data were collected through social-emotional development questionnaires, observations, and interviews before and after the implementation of the program. The results of the analysis showed that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in social-emotional development compared to the control group (t = 3.45, p < 0.05). Observations and interviews supported these findings by showing improved positive social interaction, cooperative skills, and emotional management in the experimental group. These findings confirm that structured physical education can effectively improve children's social-emotional development and, therefore, should be integrated into the primary school curriculum. This study provides the basis for further research on the impact of physical education on other aspects of child development.

Abstract

Abstract

This article reorganizes and strengthens the analysis of intercultural communication among Togale women in South Halmahera. The term Togale refers to a relational social category connecting Tobelo and Galela communities. It does not name a homogeneous ethnic block. The study examines how women negotiate gendered authority through adat, religion, kinship, livelihood, education, and post-conflict memory. The revised argument uses communication ethnography with a critical-postcolonial orientation. It also strengthens the discussion with recent literature on gender norms, women's empowerment, intercultural identity negotiation, indigenous relationality, religious communication, and peacebuilding. Field data came from interviews, participant observation, and documentation conducted in 2025. The analysis follows reflexive thematic analysis and uses Hymes's Speaking model, high-context communication, face negotiation theory, and communication accommodation theory. The findings show that Tobelo and Galela women share relational agency, but they use different symbolic resources. Tobelo women's public authority often grows through education, health work, church-related service, and family mediation. Galela women's public authority often grows through Islamic moral discourse, taklim participation, modesty norms, garden economy, and everyday da'wah. Adat practices such as salay, bobangu, sa'ali, and o dailako protect women's dignity while also regulating speech, mobility, and bodily conduct. The article develops the concept of indigenous gender negotiation to describe culturally grounded agency that works through tradition, religion, and relational ethics rather than outside them. This concept contributes to intercultural communication and multicultural da'wah studies by showing how women sustain moral identity, social coexistence, and practical authority in a post-conflict Muslim-Christian setting.

Abstract

Scientific argumentation is an essential competency in Biology education, particularly in genetics, which requires students to analyze evidence, construct logical reasoning, and draw conclusions based on scientific concepts. However, students' scientific argumentation skills remain relatively low, highlighting the need for innovative instructional approaches that effectively facilitate scientific reasoning. This study aimed to analyze the effect of ChatGPT integration on students' scientific argumentation skills in genetics learning. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two twelfth-grade science classes at MAS Firdaus Tompobalang, designated as the experimental and control groups. Data were collected through a Toulmin-based scientific argumentation test, classroom observations, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Independent Samples t-test, Paired Samples t-test, normalized gain (N-Gain), and effect size analysis. The results revealed that the experimental group achieved a mean N-Gain score of 0.65, which was higher than that of the control group (0.35). Hypothesis testing indicated a statistically significant difference (p = 0.001 < 0.05) with a Cohen's d value of 0.96, indicating a large effect size. Improvements were observed across all components of scientific argumentation, including claim, evidence, reasoning, backing, and rebuttal, although the rebuttal component still requires further enhancement. Therefore, the integration of ChatGPT had a positive and significant effect on students' scientific argumentation skills and is recommended as an innovative approach to Biology instruction, while maintaining the teacher's central role in guiding the critical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the phenomenon of declining politeness among students in the digital era, which is reflected in the gradual disappearance of the “Tabe” cultural practice within the school environment. The main problem identified at UPT SPF SDN Pampang is the low level of students’ ethics, both in behavior and speech, caused by the influence of social media content and the lack of filtering toward external cultures. This study aimed to formulate concrete and systematic strategies to revitalize the culture of Tabe’ through the perspective of Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s educational philosophy in order to restore students’ character and moral values. The methodology employed in this study was qualitative research with a phenomenological approach to explore more deeply the authentic experiences of teachers regarding changes in students’ behavior. The research subjects were selected through purposive sampling, namely classroom teachers who interact daily with students and thoroughly understand the students’ character conditions at school. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participatory observations of students’ spontaneous behavior, and documentation of habituation activities. The findings revealed that the consistency level of students in practicing the Tabe’ culture ranged only from 10% to 40%. Efforts to revitalize this culture were carried out by providing direct role models (Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha), in which teachers consistently used expressions such as “Please,” “Sorry,” “Thank You,” and “Excuse Me.” In addition, the use of video and audio technology to introduce local songs containing moral messages, as well as collaboration between schools and parents, became key factors in guiding children according to their natural development and character. Therefore, it can be concluded that the revitalization of local wisdom integrated with the philosophy of national education can serve as an effective moral safeguard for students amid the challenges of social change and the digital era. Keywords: Ki Hadjar Dewantara, character education, politeness, elementary education, Tabe’ culture.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence in elementary education presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly because its use is not only related to learning effectiveness but also concerns the development of students’ character, learning ethics, and humanistic values. This study aims to describe and understand the ethical dimensions and educational philosophy underlying the utilization of Artificial Intelligence at UPT SPF SDN Tamamaung I. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, as it focused on the experiences, perspectives, and interpretations of participants regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence in the context of elementary education. The research subjects were selected purposively, consisting of the principal and teachers who possessed experience or knowledge related to the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in teaching and learning activities. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, while the data were analyzed using phenomenological analysis through meaning categorization, identification of essential themes, and interpretation of the core experiences of the participants. The findings revealed that Artificial Intelligence is perceived as a supportive learning tool that can assist teachers in searching for information, developing teaching materials, and enriching instructional variations. However, its implementation also raises ethical concerns, such as the potential for student dependency, decreased learning autonomy, issues of academic honesty, and the protection of personal data. From the perspective of educational philosophy, Artificial Intelligence is not viewed as a replacement for teachers, but rather as a tool that must be utilized selectively, responsibly, and consistently oriented toward character building, human values, and pedagogical relationships. Therefore, the use of Artificial Intelligence in elementary schools should be guided through teacher supervision and clear school policies to ensure alignment with the humanistic goals of education.
