Abstract

This study was driven by the tendency of students with hearing impairments to improve their skills in creating epoxy clocks. These students possess artistic talent in painting that can be further developed through three-dimensional media such as epoxy-based clocks. Therefore, the researcher sought to implement the project-based learning method to enhance these students’ painting skills. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the project-based learning method in improving the skills of making epoxy clocks among students with hearing impairments at SLB Negeri 1 Pariaman. This research adopts a quantitative approach using an experimental method known as single subject research (SSR) with an A-B design. Data were collected through observation using instruments and documentation in May 2025 with one subject. Data analysis was carried out using the visual graph method. The results revealed that the skills of making epoxy clocks among students with hearing impairments improved following the intervention with the project-based learning method, as indicated by an increase in skill frequency both within and across conditions.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problems found in SLB YPAC West Sumatra. There is a girl with the initials K who has physical and motoric problems. This condition is further exacerbated by the lack of ergonomic learning aids, such as wheelchairs that cannot be adjusted to the needs of the user. This study aims to develop an adjustable wheelchair that supports the optimization of the learning process for children with cerebral palsy at SLB YPAC West Sumatra. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Successive Approximation Model (SAM) approach, through three stages, namely preparation, iterative design, and iterative development. The trial subjects included disability experts, design experts, engineering experts, and one cerebral palsy student as a user. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and validation questionnaires and practicality tests. The validation results from the experts showed that the feasibility level was 87% with the category "very good". Meanwhile, the results of the practicality test showed an average score of 87% with the highest value in the comfort aspect (95%) and effectiveness in learning (90%). The response from homeroom teachers and parents was also very positive with an average satisfaction rate of 88%. Overall, this product has proven to be able to improve students' comfort, safety, and concentration during the learning process. Thus, this adjustable wheelchair is an innovative solution that supports the implementation of inclusive education for children with special needs.

Abstract

Indonesia is the world's largest palm oil producer, but this industry presents environmental challenges such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Enhancing students’ environmental literacy, particularly those living near oil palm plantations, is key in fostering ecological awareness. This study aims to analyze students' environmental literacy levels based on gender and grade level at Puspita Senior High School, South Sumatra. This research employs a descriptive design using a survey method with an environmental literacy questionnaire measuring knowledge and attitudes toward environmental issues. The study involved 244 students categorized by gender and grade level. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and the Kruskal-Wallis test to determine differences in environmental literacy across variables. The findings indicate that students’ overall environmental literacy is very good, with an average score of 54.36. There is no significant difference in environmental literacy between male and female students, although females scored slightly higher in attitude. Similarly, no significant difference was found based on grade level. Factors such as an inclusive curriculum, uniform learning experiences, and students' residential environment near oil palm plantations are believed to contribute to these findings. In conclusion, students living near oil palm plantations exhibit high environmental literacy, with no significant differences based on gender or grade level. These results highlight the importance of equitable environmental education in fostering ecological awareness among young generations.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the ability to write currency values in mildly mentally retarded children at SLB N 1 Lubuk Sikaping by using wordwall quizzes learning media, namely website-based quizzes that enable the creation of interactive learning. With this media, teachers can create various types of learning such as quizzes, pair matching, random word games, word searches, and grouping. This research uses an experimental method with a single subject research (SSR) approach and an A-B-A design, involving three conditions: baseline (A1), intervention (B), and baseline (A2). Data was collected through observations and tests which were analyzed based on two categories, namely analysis within conditions and visual analysis between conditions. During 16 meetings, the research results showed that in the baseline condition (A1) which consisted of 4 meetings, the percentage of child stability was only 14%. However, in the intervention condition (B) which consisted of 8 meetings, stability was achieved at the 9th to 12th meeting with a percentage reaching 100%. In the baseline condition (A2), which also consists of 4 meetings, the stable percentage remains 100%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of wordwall quiz media is effective in improving the ability to write currency values in mildly mentally retarded children
