Abstract

The adaptive behavior of students struggling with reading is very important to discuss because it reveals a phenomenon that is often overlooked in the education world. At the age of grade 3 elementary school, children's reading ability is at a crucial stage, and the adaptive behaviors that arise from reading difficulties can provide important insights into their educational needs. The objective of this research is to observe and examine the adaptive behaviors of students experiencing reading difficulties in grade 3 at one of the schools in Padang City. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data was obtained through observations, interviews, direct tests on students, and documentation. The data analysis technique employs qualitative data analysis through steps of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The analysis results show that this article demonstrates 5 adaptive behaviors of students facing reading difficulties in 3rd-grade elementary students. Teachers are strongly advised to develop teaching approaches that cater to the individual needs of students in relation to the 5 adaptive behaviors of students with reading difficulties.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of modeling techniques in improving ironing skills in students with mild intellectual disabilities. This study used a quantitative approach with the Single Subject Research method with an A-B design, where the ability to iron school clothes in baseline conditions (A1) was measured three times and showed the same results, namely 55%. Data analysis showed a stability range of 8, an average value of 55, with an upper limit of 59 and a lower limit of 51, and stability reaching 100%. In the intervention condition (B), which was carried out for eight sessions, the scores obtained by student G were 61%, 72%, 78%, 78%, 83%, 86%, 86%, and 86%. The stability range in this phase was 13, with an average value of 79, an upper limit of 86, a lower limit of 72, and a stability level of 88%. The findings of this study indicate an increase in ironing skills after the implementation of the modeling technique, which means that the technique has proven effective in improving the ability to iron school clothes.

Abstract

This research aims to Improving Shoelace Skills Through Direct Instruction in Children with Moderate Intellectual Disabilities in Grade VIII at SLB YAPPAT Lubuk Sikaping. This research was motivated by a problem the researcher encountered at the YAPPAT Special Needs School in Lubuk Sikaping. A child with a moderate intellectual disability was unable to lace up shoes independently. This study aimed to improve shoelace skills through direct instruction. This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental approach in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR) using an A-B design. The data collection technique used was an action test. The data analysis technique in this A-B design SSR research involves several stages. The subjects were eighth-grade children with moderate intellectual disabilities at the YAPPAT Special Needs School in Lubuk Sikaping. The results showed that in the baseline condition (A1), which was conducted in three sessions, a stable percentage of 37.5% was achieved, and in the intervention condition (B), which was conducted in 11 sessions, a stable percentage of 93.75%. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the direct instruction model can improve lace-up shoe-wearing skills in children with moderate intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to recognize consonants using the VAKT method. The method used is a quantitative method with an experimental research type in the form of a single subject research (SSR) using an A-B design. The subjects in this study were children with mild intellectual disabilities in grade V at SLBN 1 Muaro Sijunjung. The data collection technique in this study was a test consisting of several questions. The data obtained were then analyzed using visual graphic analysis techniques. The results showed that the ability to recognize consonants in children in the baseline condition (A) obtained a percentage of 26.7%, 26.7%, 26.7%. In the intervention condition (B) obtained a percentage of 66.7%, 66.7%, 73.3%, 80%, 86.7%, 86.7%, 86.7%. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the ability to recognize consonants in children with mild intellectual disabilities has increased after using the VAKT method.

Abstract

Anak disabilitas intelektual ringan mengalami hambatan dalam memahami dan mengingat konsep bilangan karena kemampuan intelektual yang berada di bawah rata-rata. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa disabilitas intelektual ringan kelas I di SLB Negeri 1 Painan dalam mengenal angka 11 hingga 20 dengan memanfaatkan media sempoa numerik. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat 1 subjek yang diamati dan dinilai. Pelaksanaan tindakan penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan total empat kali pertemuan. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan model simultan terintegrasi dimana peneliti berkolaborasi dengan guru kelas. Peneliti sebagai pengamat dan guru sebagai pemberi tindakan. Setiap siklus dibagi menjadi empat tahapan yaitu tahap perencanaan pelaksanaan tindakan,pengamatan dan refleksi. Tindakan atau proses antara siklus I dan siklus II tidak terlalu berbeda,hanya saja pada tindakan siklus II kegiatan berfokus kepada latihan berulang yang dilakukan anak secara mandiri tanpa adanya bantuan dari guru seperti pada siklus I. Kemudian didapatkan hasil dari penelitian yakni, meningkatnya kemampuan anak pada setiap siklusnya. nilai yang diperoleh anak pada setiap siklus yaitu BKA memperoleh nilai 21% disiklus I dan nilai 80% disiklus II. Melalui penggunaan media ini, diharapkan proses pemahaman konsep angka dapat berlangsung secara bertahap, lebih mudah dimengerti, dan memberikan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan bagi anak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan media pembelajaran Geometry Rotation Wheel yang ditujukan untuk membantu peserta didik dengan disabilitas intelektual dalam mengenal bentuk geometri bangun datar. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada hasil studi pendahuluan di SLB Amal Bhakti Sicincin yang menunjukkan rendahnya partisipasi siswa serta kurangnya efektivitas media konvensional seperti flash card dalam pembelajaran geometri. Metode yang digunakan yaitu Research and Development (R&D) model Richey and Klein dengan tiga tahap perencanaan, produksi, dan evaluasi. Media yang dikembangkan kemudian divalidasi oleh ahli media dan ahli disabilitas intelektual serta diuji kepraktisannya melalui uji coba terbatas pada siswa. Dari proses validasi yang dilakukan oleh ahli memperoleh skor 91,25% kategori sangat valid, sedangkan uji praktikalitas memperoleh nilai 100% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa Geometry Rotation Wheel layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran karena tidak hanya sesuai dengan standar kelayakan media, tetapi juga mampu menarik minat siswa dalam belajar. Dengan demikian, media ini dapat menjadi alternatif pembelajaran interaktif yang mendukung pemahaman konsep geometri dasar. Penelitian lanjutan disarankan untuk mengembangkan cakupan bentuk geometri yang lebih kompleks serta menambahkan fitur interaktif agar dapat menjangkau kebutuhan siswa secara lebih luas.

Abstract

Preliminary studies found one child who was not optimal in recognizing numeral symbols from 1-10, in addition to the use of still conventional media to enhance the child's ability to recognize numeral symbols from 1-10. This research aims to explore the child's ability in learning to recognize numeral symbols in accordance with the principles of learning through work and solving problems for children with intellectual disabilities. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental type in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR). The design used is A-B design which consists of two phases, namely baseline (A) and intervention (B). The subject of this research is a child with mild intellectual disability, initialed AS, who is in class III/Phase A at SLB YPPC Painan. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, tests, and documentation. The results of the study, conducted over 10 meetings divided into 2 phases, show that in the baseline phase (A) consisting of 3 meetings, outcomes were 50%, 53%, and 53%. In the intervention phase (B) consisting of 7 meetings, the outcomes were 57%, 63%, 70%, 77%, 87%, 97%, and 97%. Based on the research results, it is proven that educational sound poster media is effective in improving the ability to recognize number symbols for children with mild intellectual disabilities, as the research results indicate an improvement.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pasir berwarna dapait mieningkatkan keimampuan peseirta didiki dengan Down Syndrome dalam menulis bilangan 1-5. Hal ini terlihat dari peserta didiik MAR yanig memiiliki kemampiuan awial menulis bilangan 1-5 sebanyak 10%, diakhir siklus II kemampuan peserta didik meningkat menjadi 80%. Demikian juga dengain pesierta didik AKM yaing memiiliki kemaimpuan aiwal 10% dan diakhiri siklus II kemampuannya meningkat menjadi 90%.
